@@ArrowheadGarage Ahhhhh, so no symptoms.. I have a triple black 02 , I work in it myself, I am a Porsche guy, owned a couple air cooled and now this 986 for last 5 years... mine is surging as I cruise Down the street, running strong under acceleration, but just cruising it is surging.. Maybe a tps..then I watched your video and thought 🤷🤔
Impressive mileage, i followed your instructions and I replaced the fuel filter. I didn’t struggle to take the filter out but damn i struggled to find the grey clip to remove it. A bright brain put the clip facing right up and me underneath couldn’t see it. Took me an hour to see it. The rest was a 20 min job. At that mileage did you have any problems with the IMS? Thanks for the video!
Question, is 2001 Porsche Boxster S, a good daily beater. I found one setting for about two years, what things should I look for or what things should I do you first, if I purchase it?
Hi! What year model its your Porsche? Mine its a 2004 and doesn't have a filter, Don't know if some models came without it, or maybe Its located somewhere else. There's four black fuel lines that are together and one of them goes to the filter (on your video), my car only has three lines together. Any suggestions? please let me know. Thanks
Cesar Del Bosque only the early 986 models had the fuel filter mounted outside the tank. Run some Seafoam in your tank you should Be good! Thanks for watching
Hi Brian. Just working my way through your back catalogue. Haven’t seen anyone mention the fuel filter before, so I am curious to know how often it needs to be changed. I am just about to change the coolant so am wondering if mine is in the fuel tank, as you mentioned that some are. I have a 2003 3.2S model.
I can’t seem to find any official service mileage or time frame for the fuel filter. But I would change it out every 50,000 miles unless you live in an area that is known to have crappy gas... then maybe ever 30k miles. Thanks for watching and let me know if you have any questions.
I pulled the old engine out about four months ago and popped in a used 3.2 with around 110k on it until I can finish the rebuild of the original engine. The IMS bearing isn't that expensive, it's the labor to remove the trans and replace it that adds up.
Wow ! That’s a lot of miles ..original engine ? I own a 2001 986 S and has 97,000 miles and she runs sweet ,granted I’ve done clutch ,ims, rms, aos, new top ,some under carriage plastic change ,gas filter ,gas pump ...lil by lil I’m changing those things that wear out with age
Awesome, just the video I needed to change my fuel filter! Thank you
Dam that some miles, Porsche just keeps impressing me on their toughness!
If folks would just do the maintenance on these cars, they will last!
@@ArrowheadGarage Howdy, what were the failure symptoms of the fuel pump? Surging or just stopped working? Thanks
@@jeffjeff4477 low fuel pressure is what lead me to swap it.

I take it you've upgraded the ims bearing with that sort of mileage?? I want to do mine but I can't justify the extortionate price

@@ArrowheadGarage it looks like it'll save a lot if I do the work myself. Would be good if I can maybe rent the pulling and insertion tool though
Or buy the cherry picker used and resell it once done. Hell you might even make a buck or two.
Brian, was the check engine light related to the fuel filter change or something else.
No sir, I noticed the filter said PORSCHE and I was like yea I should change that lol
