Gus still has the same VA. He went through puberty between seasons so they used the "witch puberty" excuse to *avoid* replacing him. It's pretty cool of them.
Yeah, normally they'd just get another kid who sounds enough like the old VA. So glad Dana found a way for Issac to stay on board.
yep
I think Gus' VA went through puberty, and that's why they made Gus do it too.
Yup
He did.
Nah! That's his regular voice. They use filter to make him sound younger. They drop it for this season.
@@Notmyday2009 the use filter for the last part of season 1 the first part of season 1 wasn't using filter but he went though puberty mid recording.
1:50 Amity's been wearing this telepathy necklace since she was a kid, so Odalia's been invading her mind for *years!*
4:48 Gus still has the same VA, just that he went thru puberty between seasons, so they said that.
The thing with Alador is that he is very much the absent minded professor type. He's more negligent than outright abusive like Odalia. And while he does care about his kids and want them to succeed, he's just a bit too focused on his work to really pay as much attention to them as he should. Plus, he's just not aware of just how bad Odalia really is and so trusts her to handle the kids.
I still remember, when this episode first aired, that my own mental image of the Blight parents were similar to the Briarwoods in Vox Machina because of their shadows in the episode with Willow's memories.
But instead we got a Soccer Mom and the guy from the "Is this a pidgeon?" meme.
I think they just upped the image of Gus because his VA went through puberty, which is pretty cool of Dana to do
You can definitely see why Amity was under so much pressure with a mom like that.
And why Ed and Em were so angry at Amity for telling on them.
"I am your mother. You will obey me and die"
I rewound this so many times
she just like my mom fr
they didn't get a new voice actor and call it "witch puberty" to explain it, His voice actor went through REAL puberty and they called it "witch puberty" to explain it.
Amitys dad is very neglectful, which isn't AS bad as Odalia is, but he is still not a great parent.
Agreed. Granted he does stand up to her later in the series, but as of right now at this point in the series, he’s still problematic. Gotta have some growth. Lol
Not great, but he does grow during the show. Which is a Positive.
Its nice he learns though. Going from passive to "ready to possibly die to get your kids to safety"
yes.
Tbf, its not exactly entirely his fault. Odalia has him workinh 24/7
I really wish the ending of the show didn’t have to be as rushed as it was so we could’ve gotten a bit more of development on how amity’s parents work especially Odalia. Her dad is just entirely mentally absent, he’s quite literally off with the butterflies half the time.
when they explained the spell working like a language, all I could think of was the Words of Power from Skyrim.
gus has the same VA, his voice just dropped between seasons
*Amity does the "I'm watching you" gesture*
Me: Water Tribe
Odalia could probably hire someone to test her tech. Her using her daughter is probably just cost saving.
Ah yes Luz's ultra dense head is finally cracked
A lot of people, myself included, were scared that it would be Phineas levels of dense. And given the show being cut short, that would hinder that subplot a lot.
Considering how much of a nerd Luz is of very cliche and corny fantasy tropes. Amity swooping in and saving her like she did being what finally makes Luz realize "Wait heck, I think I'm falling in love with this girl" seems so super fitting for her lmao
the glyphs being words and working in combos felt to me like a combination of true name magic and symbolic alchemy *which uses symbols and has all things based on four elements*, but like Adventure Time the four elements are a little different than the standard (earth, air, fire, water), being here (ice, fire, plant, light), still better than Adventure time with (fire, ice, candy, slime).
3:01 oh my god I love my Lily so much. 🥰💚🖤
At 13:30, missed by most reactors to the Owl House, as while they watch Gravity Falls, so far ALL I've seen have given a pass to the third member of this set, Amphibia, the swamp frog on the cover is Hops, a character from Amphibia.
11:49 Mrs. Potts and Chip have seen better days.
Alador looks like he wants a divorce 24/7. Man just there for the ride at this point. 😂
13:29: a wild Hop Pop appears
Amity's dad is the passive type of parent. He's not a bad dude, but let's too much stuff happen with little resistance. Only thing he tends to put most effort in is his work, resulting in him being a rather neglectful parent.
The episode where Luz finally sees the light, and Lamity the Gay Calamity becomes Lumity.
Alador's situation is... complicated, as we find out later. Plus he gives off HEAVY ADD vibes (I've never felt so seen as when he just starts chasing butterflies and getting distracted by anything and everything), and is clearly overworked and exhausted. It's no excuse, though. He never should have let Odalia abuse the kids. But even that touches on complicated stuff that would be spoilers.
They had to have one bad mom in for contrast. Also Alador's fast change from season 1 might be due to Disney.
Her dad is more of an enabler of the abusive. Not good at all, but still better as her mother. Honestly sad that he can be this shitty and still be the way better parent.
From here on Gus improves so much. He becomes a fantastic character.
You're gonna love Alador. Alador Blight is everyone's baby.
Oh, she’s not ready for episode 5 👀
Odalia might be the worst mother butt damn is she a peak mommy like they must have gone out of their way to give her a dumpy probably her only legit good quality beyond probably not being bad as a kid. Alador definatley married her for the looks.
Gus's VA is the only one that was actually a child
13:28 Frog spotted
Gus’s VA just sounds a lot different now cuz there was almost an entire year hiatus between the end of recording season 1 and the beginning of season 2 production.
Alador is not a bad dad, he is just so brow beaten by his awful wife that he just goes “Yes, dear.” All the homies hate Odalia
True dude is just exhausted to the point he goes with whatever his wife says
So it's like that meme
Her: "It's 3am dear, time to torment the kids"
Him(tired): "Yes dear"
I wouldn’t go that far, yes he’s exhausted and brown beaten but he’s still neglectful
@@lordgeneralmilitantdeezy7550 I always felt that Alador has just a touch of the Tism (apologies if that’s not very PC of me.) but a lot of how he acts seems to line up with a lot of adults who have one form or other of high functioning neurodivergence which could account for his negligence simply because he does not see it as being negligent or comprehends he is being negligent because Odalia who has such a forceful personality orders him about or uses manipulative language towards him to steer him in the way she wants
Shoooot I didn't know we had luffy bomba in owl house
Tinker bell better not be in there 5:29
8:16 Alador's villain backstory (he will forever remember the death of that butterfly >:( )
Luz crush, activated.
I really appreciate you holding Alador accountable here. A lot of other reactors I've seen are way too quick when seeing this episode to let him off the hook for his role in the Blight family's dysfunction just because Odalia is more prominent and he's a little quirky.
Writing a comment
Ugh. Meet Odalia
Alicia has already finished Owl house on patreon but regardless:
Its the same VA for Gus, its just that he went through real life puberty so they aged him up to match.
You see a lot in the ways Willow's parents and Amity's parents are similar but completely different. Harvey and Odalia are both the sterner parents, but Harvey's sternness seems to come from the desire for Willow to excel for her own good, while Odalia wants Amity to excel for the Blight name. Gilbert and Alador are the more chill parents, but while Gilbert's more understanding and carefree, Alador is neglectful and absent-minded.
19:34 Alador approves of Lumity
13:05 I just adore Amity’s face here. That is the face that screams “goddamn it Luz!” 😂🤣
In science, like in art, you have to know the rules in order to break them.
If you do not know the rules, you are not thinking outside the box, because you do not know what the box is, you are just randomly failing.
P.S: This is also why art students want to draw manga style from the beginning, and their teachers do not like it.
Real good manga artists know all the basic rules of perspective, anatomy, etc. They then CHOOSE to break some of them for style.
But art students do not know them, that is why when they try to imitate the artist without knowing why they are doing what they are doing, you get the typical "cringe" manga drawing.
Amity shielding Luz at the end, with the stage-death at the hands of the abomaton, is interesting for several reasons. It's not just that it's cute, which it totally is. But also there's other layers. One obvious one is that of course Luz wouldn't know exactly how to fake defeat in that moment, since it was just negotiated on the spot by Amity with her mom, so Amity was guiding her. But even beyond that - I think this shows that Amity still didn't trust that her mom would pull the punch. After seeing the way Odalia had the abomaton beating the crap out of Luz, she seems to think it's possible that Odalia will still try to hurt her, or even both of them - even though she just agreed not to. This means that even though Odalia touts her "a Blight always upholds their bargain" philosophy, Amity knows her mother well enough to know her mother would betray her if it suited her.
THE GAYYYY
Odalia kinda bad tho...
I cannot wait for you to react to episode 14. We get to see a lot more of Amity's dad and understand his relationship with his kids!!
Gus’s voice actor actually went through puberty, and his voice changed, so they didn’t actually change his VA, so they then had to explain his change of voice by witch puberty…lol
I hope someone told her about the thing with Gus' VA after the episode, because it's actually a pretty neat thing to know about
14:59 Sokka: Water Tribe
Alador always throws me off because his VA is a character I both love and hate in World of Warcraft. So I keep picturing that character popping up when he talks lol
This show keeps getting better and better
And here we start seeing the real Lilith away from the Emperor's Coven. She's literally just an overachieving nerd that would be happier studying than doing anything else.
Nope, that is the same VA for Gus. You have to remember, a lot of animated shows have their first season made close a year before it premieres and season 2 is usually made after the first premieres. It was almost 2 years and Isaac Ryan Brown did go through a real puberty.
Yes neither are good parents but the way they are as people are very different.
Amitys dad is absent minded and neglectful which is why he cant see whats happening right in front of him but he does care for his kids.
For her dad he needs to develop more as a person and break free of odalias control like amity has, but until then hes not going to be a good parent.
Odalia dont expect anything from her she knows full well whats shes doing, just doesnt care.
Idk why it took me so long but hootys nick name is hootscifer and there is Lilith just like Lucifer and Lilith lol
If you haven’t seen gravity falls and you are enjoying owl house, I can’t recommend it enough it’s such a great show
It's on the list, so it will be watched, eventually
@@vdsora32 looking forward to it!

I don’t know about you guys, but when this episode aired, I immediately took away Lilith’s title as my least my favorite character and gave it to Odalia. I know it was far too early for some to think that same way, and I know Odalia technically made an appearance in “Understanding Willow” that was roughly enough to warrant that label too, but my God. When I actually saw Odalia, I fucking hated her and wished for nothing but unspeakably horrible things for her.
Erm ok but who asked tho.
Dont let that other comment mean anything. I like seeing what others think from the show. It's interesting
If husband is pasive in relationship then he is a wimp or he is abused by wife.
Taking bets: Alicia will at least somewhat like Alador by the end.
19;12 oh alicia you got more then you wished for hehe
Gus va grew up and went to actual puberty :)
White Woman
Crikey
👍
Can you watch Ultraman Blazar please?
Alador had no problem going along with Odalia or with what was happening around him. He didn’t care or get angry at Odalia for how she was treating Amity or for trying to kill Luz. You’d think seeing the way Amity was being treated and seeing Odalia trying to kill a child would’ve been the last straw for him and done something about her sooner.
He could’ve at least thought to tell Amity and warn her about what Odalia was going to do if he actually wanted to protect Amity from her. He didn’t even seem to feel bad for Amity and apologize to her for what Odalia did or for going along with her and doing nothing to stop her. You’d think he would have learned that lesson after what happened with Willow and felt bad about that.
He only told Odalia what he said at the end because he thought Amity being friends with Luz and the others would help Amity’s magic get stronger and benefit the family. It wasn’t because he wanted Odalia to back off or because she was going too far or even because he cared about Amity’s wellbeing.
The glyph system actually makes a lot of sense when you look at it through a (loose) physics perspective.
Fire = increasing energy, Ice = decreasing energy, Plant = generating life, and Light has no mass so requires it's own glyph to control.
With those elements in different proportions, you could theoretically do anything
i may have missed something what did the dad do cause out of this episode all i have been seeing so far is the dad just trying to get each day over with he does not look happy being with that mom
Ep. 15 flashback mostly. Odalia in this episode makes him look like a saint by comparison, but he’s still not a good father.
oh okay
@@EnderStinealso she explains it pretty well at 16:15 and onwards.
@emarusso5758 yeah though i still kinda see it like he is more afraid of the mom idk i hope he gets better as a character
don't care, post the one piece next episode!
