It looks like a 100 year old watch with modern reliability. I like this direction. I like the lack of the Islander logo on the dial with these models too. Beautiful watches!
I really like the watches but the choice of a canvas strap is mind boggling to me. It’s like your leather strap on your dress watch cracked when you went to work, so you pillaged the canvas strap from your field watch. The Islander logo haters will appreciate the brand name written out in letters. Keep up the excellent work Marc.
Well, it seems like his response to everyone that doesn't like the canvas strap is to go buy another one! Really?! How about supply a nice one in the first place so we don't have to buy another one!
LOVE THIS!!! But, an Islander Flighty? I feel like Judge Smails, "Well...........we're waiting!" LOLOL Keep up the good work. so nice to see someone who does it right succeed.
as a dress watch guy i see this as a v good watch especially for the price , the only thing i would change is the strap , i guess it would look marvelous in black crocodile leather strap .
That is so close to perfect!! Love it. No logo, smaller, dress watch. All great. Do you have any plans to release a version without lume? I like lume on most watches but if you are going for a vintage look and a dress watch I can't understand why there would ever be lume on it. That blue dial with a nice leather strap would look so good.
@@islandwatch That's fair. It would be interesting to see if the next time you make a dress watch you make one from the beginning with no logo and no lume along side of the ones with lume how that would sell from the begining if everything was available at once. Good looking watch!
Nice nod to Cartier with the Islander name making part of the V at 6 o'clock. Great aesthetic and dimensions. Has my interest. At this point I believe that I have been tuning in to your channel for 5-6 years. Always enjoy the content. Proud owner of two Islanders, a watch tool set, and some straps. Have always been pleased with the product quality, prices and customer service.
Beautiful. Great prices. Cool texture and colours. The minute hand is a bit short tho isn't it ? Very tempting anyhow, I'm really impressed with the watches you keep coming up with.
Cool, very cool Marc. Great shape and i do appreciate lume on a dress watch! Solid movement choice also. I hope the solar diver is coming soon thats the ultimate set and forget tool watch imo
Mark I have a suggestion. To go with the no logo theme, remove the automatic print on the dial and use the model name. It wild look so cool with Astoria on the dial instead
Oh my goodness. I love this watch. I’m actually going to budget this into my collection. There is a few things I would nit pick but this is exactly how I would design a watch. Do you sell other straps at 18mm? A dark green gator leather watch strap would go great with the egg shell dial.
Those are lovely indeed! I really like them, particularly the antique white variant. Wonderfully classy, nostalgic and very attractive. Well done Marc! Cheers!🙂👍
You knocked the case shape out of the park. Just not crazy about the dial. The dials are not bad looking, just a little plain. The texture of the dial is cool. If this watch had a sector dial with the white and silver and not Roman numerals, it would be a must buy. I am nitpicking, this is a great design. Seiko level case shape design.
I enjoy the fact that its a dress watch and has lume. Theres been so many times i was wearing a dress watch and couldnt tell the time in a dimly lit room or i fell asleep with the watch on and wanted to check the time in the middle of the night.
I don’t even like this style of watch but this is really really nice. The choice of strap is a little surprising IMHO. I do believe I might purchase one of these!
Very vintage flair, nice! Definitely a great one Marc, although too small for me, which is unfortunate, but the size makes sense. You're a true master these days. I'm wearing your brand all week this week! 👍
Love the watch, and at first thought strap was too casual. But the strap makes this dress watch also work as an everyday watch. Can always add a formal black alligator strap to get a really versatile watch.
This is my favorite yet!!! I can't think of anything quite like it. It'll be perfect for my wrists and style. And I still can't believe you always use sapphire and a Miyota 9 series at this price range.
That's a solid hit here, Marc - the black-dial version looks nicest to me, but the way the dial texture presents itself on the blue version is seriously nice. (Also dig the Easter egg at 6 o'clock.)
Well done! Awesome design and attention to detail. No logo on the dial works better for this design. The white one is my favorite. Reminds me of the Seiko presage tonneau that I always wanted, but this Islander costs way less and has a better movement in my opinion!
The watch looks good. Yes to leaving off the logo. The straps are cool for a sportcoat and open shirt look, but IMO for a suitcoat I think you’d need to go with leather. (I like the black best FWIW.) And by the way, thank you so much for acknowledging that many of us enjoy dressing appropriately at cocktail parties, fine dining establishments, and the like.
Great job on the new watch. I wanted to also say that I think, if memory serves, that the ISL-32/33 were the first Islander dress watches not the ISL-97. Only bringing it up because I always loved the ISL-33 and it's often forgotten about LOL. In all examples of the dress watches you have done they are well executed, classic with out being totally boarding.
Stunning watch Marc. I like at the VI mark, the Islander name on the V part. A nice touch and all about the details ! No chance of a green dial in the future ?
This is a gorgeous watch. Really elegant. I love the name; Astoria sounds very ritzy and a great match for this dress watch. The leather/canvas strap reminds me of some of the straps on JLC's Reverso. I think you've taken on Cartier and JLC and beat them at their own game! Bravo you guys.
I love this Marc. This watch has everything going for it. You are so good at emptying my bank account! The only decision is white or blue. The blue has a lovely pattern on the dial. Well done team.
superb release, I have an 8" wrist, too small? I'll need to study the dims again-- love them, white dial is my fav, but that blue... you guys are killing it!
the crown doesn’t appear as if it might have accidentally been replaced with a small rotary tool cutting wheel, and the lume application is helpful for determining how long I have until intermission. The strap is a miss, but I have about a dozen 18mm straps so 🤷🏻♂️
@@islandwatch you’re welcome Marc. The Astoria will have to hold for a few bills to clear the budget environment, but then it is cleared direct to the last slot in my box.
The "Islander" name in the roman V (6 o'clock) is just "chef's kiss!" Well done! Now why aren't there more Islander strap options to buy for this already? :) Gorgeous!
Nice watch, similar to the Lorrier Grand Central that came out a few years ago. In fact the case lools identical. The addition of lume is an interesting differentiation to similar watches. The only question is the fabric strap. Not getting the connection to this type of watch.
At first, I thought it was St Petersburg on the back. Haha I prefer round watches, but everything about this one makes me like it! No date, small, decent movement, and logo on the back. The small portion of lume breaks with no-lume tradition.
Light blue is very different to others out there. My first thought was a dark blue would be nicer, but the light blue is lovely. I have a Lorier Zephyr white dial, which I love as a modern affordable dress piece that compliments my 6 vintage square/rectangular pieces. May be tempted to add this too…great price, very competitive.
Islander has gone from homage brand to micro brand to not so micro brand over a few years. So much variety from the brand at this point. This looks great for a dress watch.
it took me 3 and half minutes to order both black and white version a few seconds ago. I have never been so sure to buy a watch in my life. These are masterpiece designs-perfect blend of dress and GADA, a Miyota 9039 with such outstanding specs for $329- just unbelievable! (yay, yay, I am getting a bit carried away but I don't care) and can't praise Marc enough for these brilliant releases. Only thing don’t like is the straps, a nicer, better matching and looking leather strap would look and pair a lot better for example, charging bit more but may be something like a Horween!
@@islandwatch I’ve bought some dress watches over recent years, but then I always end up flipping them to buy other watches because I rarely ever wear them past the honeymoon phase.

You're correct, The canvas strap is a poor choice for any of these. That is worrisome because any meticulous watch maker/designer should know this.
Absolutely Beautiful! My only nitpick is I think the white/silver dial version deserves a full black leather or croc style strap. 🤷♂️
I agree! The strap is completely wrong for a dress watch. It's not dressy at all.
No worries, thank you!
Well you could always change it, at least he's not charging you for an expensive strap that you might not like. 😅
The strap looks great 👍
@@sinjinadams2862jlc sells a very similar strap for the reverso. not sure i’d consider that dressier than this

No worries. It reminds me a Cartier.

Wow, Mark! Great watch design! I’m blown away that you have 9039 movement in it for such a great price, as well!
Really dope Marc. Great work team

This is gorgeous. For some reason, I feel like it would look fantastic on a Speidel expansion band. Awesome grandpa vibes.
Beautiful watch. I just wish the hands were different as it looks like pilot watch hands. Still great looking. Glad you are trying other case shapes!
Great addition! I lived in Astoria when I was in NY and have wonderful memories there. I gotta get one!
