"Don't try to stop me Smee! Stop me Smee. Smee... why aren't you stopping me?!" 🤣🤣🤣
Dustin Hoffman and Bob Hoskins have great comedic timing together as Hook and Smee.
And of course, Robin Williams is always fantastic. His pure joy at discovering who he is lights up my face every time 😄
Charlie Korsmo (Jack) was in a few more movies as a kid/teen, like Dick Tracy (1990), What About Bob? (1991), and Can't Hardly Wait (1998), before retiring from acting to become a lawyer.

It was such a big surprise finding out as an adult how this movie wasn't well received. Even Spielberg felt let down by the movie. Personally I've always held this movie in high regard.
    Great reaction as always:)

Home video really helped spread a lot of movies that didn't do great in theaters.

It still boggles me up to this day that this movie had such a low rating. But I'm guessing that, when this movie was released, people weren't ready of this kind of "retelling" and this was probably ahead of its time. All I can say is, the mash between childlike elements/lore and its adult theme gave this movie greater depth. So much so that the contrast between its childlike elements and the adult theme really reached into my inner child even more.

    • @Mr.Ekshin
      @Mr.Ekshin 2 роки тому +1

@@gundummies - Yeah, it IS very childish in parts... but it's always been a guilty pleasure of mine. There was a cringe factor in the skateboarding parts, and a few other scenes where it seems like Spielberg was pandering to whatever trends were happening at the time. I could have done without that stuff, but other than that, it holds up even today.

Robin Williams is one of my all time favorite actors. He was HILARIOUS! He was also a very good serious actor. If you haven't seen them yet, you should check out One Hour Photo, and also Insomnia. Those really show his range as an actor. Very serious and dramatic rolls for him.

The little guy's name is Pockets. And while that's a sweet sentiment, if you watch, Thud does a LOT more during the battle than Pockets does. He takes out a lot of the pirates and the other boys trust him already. He's more suited to a leadership role.

Dante Basco, who played Rufio, is most famous for voicing Zuko, the villain from the anime "Avatar: The Last Airbender". There is some internet debate whether it should be considered an anime or a cartoon. I consider it an anime personally, even if it wasn't made in Japan. The style is similar enough.

It's scrumptious knowing that you have yet to really witness Dustin Hoffman's acting enough for him to gain recognition in your mind, it means we get to see you enjoy his career with movies like Sphere (1998), Rain Man (1988), Tootsie (1982), Straw Dogs (1971) and Midnight Cowboy (1967) all of which are probably on your list to watch.

You're correct on the sensei in "Kung Fu Panda"; he's a red panda (Giant pandas like Po are related to bears, but red pandas are not closely related to any other animal species & definitely not giant pandas) and voiced by Dustin Hoffman. Dustin is best known for "Tootsie" and "Rain Man".
'McGonigall'/'Wendy-Lady' is Dame Maggie Smith. Actually, during the final Harry Potter film, she was secretly getting cancer treatments. She didn't tell the kids in the cast so they would worry or be distracted from their film roles.

    Interesting Fact for you James:
Because of how heavy Dustin Hoffman's costume was, he'd had to wear a suit that allowed the staff to pipe in cold water to keep Hoffman from passing out from heat exhaustion
I mainl remember that fact from when when Bob Hoskins, who played Smee, appeared as a guest on "The Arsenio Hall Show" and Bob was telling Arsenio about that during the interview
Btw: Bob Hoskins also was in "Who Framed Roger Rabbit" as the private detective who was trying to clear Roger of his accusations

Normally, I don’t like Peter Pan lore. That was one tale I never gravitated to when I was a kid. But, this movie was my whole childhood. Robin is sorely missed by all who loved him. ❤️

I'm pretty sure this was the film that introduced me to Robin Williams. I miss him!
A lot of nostalgia for this one for me! Some of the lines are a little corny, I don't think the lost boys are the greatest, but the lines in the script didn't give them much to work with. Even Speilberg himself has said he considers this film a failure, but for some reason it still works for me! I think a big part of it is the music, the score is just beautiful!

Yup Here We go again folks one of the best popular movies of the 90s with every popular actor in it back then like Robin Williams Julia Roberts Dennis Hoffman and many more like him playing the best captain hook ever and vice versa with Pam and Legendary MrFunny Robin Williams who dominated the best Disney and Comedy movies like Mrs Doubtfire and Jumanji and many more masterpieces like these that still got it in 2022.
Even as a adult I can still watch a movie 😂 like hook again over and over and still never gets old unlike most movies today are either remakes of these legendary masterpieces or trilogies that should be left alone and let the kids get that magic like we did so when there older they only understand it alot better like we do now as a adult every time we watch it now which makes it much much more interesting and better as adults perspective.
It Just shows us how much has changed on my view of things is absolutely amazing and thanks to reactions now on movies and music on UA-cam giving these legendary times and actors like Jaws the credit they deserve from 84 into the 90s which caused the Golden Age to happen the way it did wether it was John Candy Era Comedy and Family Movies like Planes Trains and Automobiles to Chevy Chases Vacation Movie Franchise or John McLain and Hanz Rubben tearing it up in the Die Hard Series with every other actors known to man like even Carl Winslow from Family Matters showing up in same shows to Movie Classics we love today that are rebirthed again in reactions on UA-cam passing the magical torch to the next generation to love it and cherish it forever like
    we do today.
Definitely for both and always 5 classics out of every year that are the biggest franchises in the world now because of this magical time of pure masterpiece perfections that were born back then and still give the newer generation now the same golden rare gem effect like I had growing up with the best of the best in those legendary times when there was so many mega super stars all competing at once making it the greatest time ever to be alive for the best entertainment world of are lifetimes and started it all and we got the best of the best worlds and eras all combined in one for everything and yes disney is a perfect example of that in a nutshell even the animated had purpose and meaning back then and you can still watch them now over and over again and they never get old true masterpieces of writing great storylines that finish correctly and they always set you up perfectly for the next or if they have sequels or don't they still ended with you remembering them forever and feeling satisfied till this day.
Because they don't need to be remade leave that magic history alone and let the next generation get that same experience you got to growing up in the golden age of everything on the incline not decline.
Also let's not forget what else was so important then was with the most phenomenal theme music for every movie tv show that you still remember today from the best middle eighties ones like ThunderCats Ateam and GIJoe all the way to Cheers we're everybody knows your name and humming to Bill Cosby dancing to the jazz and TGIF on those wonderful looking forward to Friday nights cliffhanger series and can't wait for the conclusion next Friday night.
It didn't mater if it was Perfect Strangers Family Matters Full House or even Step by Step the writing and storylines we're so good they would even connect the shows together in a way with the actors showing up in all the series working the problems out together which is unheard of today unfortunately a truly lost masterpiece of writing cliffhangers with meaning and conclusions.
That's becauseIt didnt matter what kind of show back then writing and storytelling we're the best of the best wether it was the best sitcoms of all time like Seinfeld where you could binge laugh your way through a whole entire 8 seasons to the end with those beloved characters we all grew up
Like my favorite series of all time the had the best writing of all time and no mater how many times I watch it wether it's on youtube now with reactions with everyone or just plain regular show binge watch again you can always either learn something new that you missed before especially with reactions now which is like a new start to it again because it's there first time watching the greatest television series masterpiece of all time with you showing or catching a new perspective on the story characters that you didn't catch last time you watched it and it made way more sense this time from another person's view makes you wanting more and more that we still can still either hum sing or remember word for word till the day you die.
The bottom line is wether it's Disney or Classics like Newsies Hook and Lion 👑 King or even Sword and the Stone, and the great Robin Hood or flying and disappearing like Pete's Dragon or flying on the famous Bed Noms and Brooms Sticks or marching those streets with songs like Marry Poppins did the bottom line is simple folks it will never be like that magical time again.
unfortunately in this day in age when nothing makes sense anymore and you can't sit through most shows or movies now all the way through without going back to watching the golden age stuff over again to be fulfilled and satisfied like it always does unlike anything before

Awesome to watch this movie again through your eyes brother. This is a movie i grew up watching, and has some serious sentimental/nostalgic feels for me. I have always considered this as one of my favorite all time movies, but honestly, I have always wondering if I would feel that way were it not for the nostalgia. I guess maybe I still would love the movie having seen your reaction. Personal suggestion though, since you have seen two of my personal top three... you need to hit the trifecta and watch Heavyweights with Ben Stiller. I love this movie so much. A lot of the production staff at the time wasn't happy with the result but holy is it a killer to me.
Fun trivia: The couple kissing that ends up accidentally flying are Star Wars director George Lucas and star (Princess Leia) Carrie Fisher

There's cameos GLORE!! David Crosby is one member of Hook's crew and Glen Close is the prayer that gets put into the "boo box." Also Carrie Fisher and George Lucas play the couple that sprinkled with fairy dust on London Bridge as Tink takes Peter to Neverland.

You lewd, crude, rude, bag of pre-chewed food, dude! Sadly, I repeated that line a lot all through junior high. 🙄😊

Hook when released was not received very well. Not exactly sure why. Might have been the slow beginning that set the tone. I myself enjoyed this movie back then. We all have our own likes & dislikes and apparently the majority ruled in disfavor of this film.
