    I'm in Sydney, Australia and you'll be surprised what will grow down South, especially with your accumulated knowledge and experience. When you know better you do better. My favourite is Claire Austen. I pick them in the morning (watch Spencer 1508 Episode #29 Spring at Althorp, (just 7 minutes) where the gardener explains gardening at a new level - Diana's home and where is buried.) and I make a sweet arrangement with lavender. You can imagine the scent, subtle and feminine.

    Your UA-cam name suits you all😊I am drooling! My husband built me a beautiful greenhouse 3 years prior to us moving so he could be closer to his job. We moved 3 big U-Haul loads of plants, statues and 2 huge fountains, plus garden supplies. I miss my greenhouse. So 3 years ago my husband ordered me a fancy greenhouse. It is still sitting on 4 pallets due to city and health department codes. Health department requires a 2nd drain field here if yours is 25 years or older. We had a few bids and the cheapest was $32,000. Which is double what we paid for the greenhouse kit. That doesn’t include all the fees we had to pay in advance for application fees to the city and then to the health department which one of the applications is only good for 90 days and the other for 1 year if it expires before you get the drain field in you have to pay again and go through the application process all over again.
    My comment is for those considering a greenhouse bigger than YOUR city codes to do your research. I am heartbroken of all the money we put into this and my greenhouse still on pallets after 3 years 🥲

      Hi, Central MD checking in. I remember one summer, the deer came and ate all the flowers and buds off every single one of my rose bushes. Clean cuts all the way across. About a 3 weeks later, I had buds again and a heatwave opened them maybe a week and a half later. You’ll be fine! Debudding helps with pushing root growth anyways! Good luck!

    I have one here in Texas it’s doing very well it’s close to my tree I wouldn’t leave my roses behind maybe because you guys get free plants and it’s easy to leave them behind but when you really have to pay for them, it’s hard not to take them with you.

      Hello! Being super honest here we are very blessed to work with amazing gardening companies and have us review some of the most outstanding plants in the market which we are truly grateful for. But we do have a lot of plants we have bought ourselves and brought along with us through our moves over the years. With time though I’ve learned that sometimes it’s best to start new and work with plants that do better in a different climate. We also love to pass on plants when we move to other people it feels amazing to see someone smile because of a plant. All the David Austin roses are a few of the plants we have purchased. We know they are not cheap specially if we have purchased in a nursery that costs about triple if not ordered. I’m only explaining because I don’t want people to think we don’t have love for these plants or understand the value. At that it’s hard not to not grow emotional attachment to some. We definitely do and if we have enough space we might take a good amount with us. It’s great to know Gertrude Jekyll is doing great for you in Texas! That’s really exciting to know. 🙏💐💚

    Hi! Thank you for your videos! I have learned a lot through you guys. I recently bought a Gertrude Jekyll (because of you!) and mine isn’t bright pink like yours. It does smell amazing, but after watching this video I’m wondering if it was mislabeled and maybe I got a strawberry hill. My plant has baby soft pink roses…Do you know if the color of roses varies based on climate? I’m in zone 9b (northern California).

      Hello! As the weather warms up the color of the blooms turn to a softer pink. That happens to us on the second flush. In zone 9b it’s much warmer than here in zone 7b that’s the reason it’s blooming lighter pink for you. It’s such a beautiful pink! I’m so happy you get to enjoy this beautiful rose. The next person who lives there might not appreciate what you are leaving behind, or have the skills to continue caring for the roses and helping them thrive. It would be sad if they were neglected. I imagine you will figure out how to get your Gertrude todo well in Texas.

      @GardenObsessions  Рік тому

      Hi! We don’t have to winterized the potted roses. They are hardy enough for our zone. Most are hardy as low as zone 4 gives plenty of room for our zone 7b. Usually it’s good to get at least two zones lower that your zone. If you do need to wibterize them they can be covered in winter or taken to a protected place where they can still receive sun. 💚

    You might want to consider the birds who depend on insects for their diet. I have 106 roses that I never spray and they all thrive. Zone 9b here in Central California. I have lady bugs galore and a yard full of birds that rely on these insects. The bird population is declining significantly, due to insecticide usage. They are also part of my garden and I cherish them.

    • @GardenObsessions
      @GardenObsessions  Рік тому

      Hello! I agree birds or a healthy eco system in a garden is very important. Just these few years we have accomplished to create an ecosystem in our small garden. The garden takes care if it self. We invited birds into our garden and they are here all year round and some have made our garden their home. When we do have to spray we use organic so we don’t hurt our garden friends that help a lot. The rain here can cause a lot of damage a big one is fungus. Every climate comes with its challenges. This one was one very new to us and even though it can be challenging with all the rain and cloudy skies we still enjoy growing a garden here. The birds have been a lovely thing to experience I see them in our roses taking care of them. 🙏💐💚

    I am I. Southern California (Los Angeles) I bought a Gertrude Jekyll from Armstrong last week and after I transferred to the ground it started to look sad. South facing should I move it to the shade . So hard don’t want to loose this rose.

    • @GardenObsessions
      @GardenObsessions  Рік тому

      Hello! Gertrude Jekyll is a rose for zones 4-11. It says it should do well in all areas of the garden and take full sun to partial. In our experience in zone 7b it’s been in more shade and the ones getting more sun when we do have hot sunny days seem to get sad but recuperate once the sun goes away. I would say if you still can to move it to a area that gets morning sun and protected from hottest time of day. It can also be in shock if it’s hot in your area. 💐💚
