"Silk Cradle. The ancient homeland of the long-dead gods. The cradle of civilization. The greatest stronghold of the Old Faith. It was the first place Shamura conquered, the first jewel on the young spider's crown before they conquered the world or the birth of their kin. Shamura made their silk cradle completely and utterly their own over thousands of years of war and history. There was a grand midnight beauty to it, a violet crescent moon beaming down soft purple light shining down, white stone idols of a young Shamura overlooking it all, the twisted trees swaying in the wind, tunnels of secrets, grand palaces and cities, silk harvested to create clothes and canopies, pottery vases painted with runes and knowledge and history stuffed in the nooks and crannies of it all by a small army of disciplines, the great relics of the gods Shamura slew kept as works of art and treasured, the spoils of war flooding Shamura's land with riches and beauty. It was a realm worthy of the mightiest of gods. It was the place Shamura prided themself most on, their greatest achievement, loved like a child. But there was nothing left of that now. Nothing lived in this gray, desolate place expect for bugs and bones, and Shamura, mumbling and alone at the center of it all, their siblings dead, their life destroyed and their glory decayed. Just like Shamura's mind, Silk Cardle was infested and in ruins. "
"This place gives me chills down my spine. The nests around here seem to house spiders..but not of my kind. There are many, many ways to get trapped here. I must be cautious when travelling here, and presumably the last bishop is here. *"Shamura"* the wisest of them all."
I really enjoy how the wood tapping rhythm is used to unite the three crusading environment tracks. There's a really strong sense of cohesiveness because of those stylistic elements in this soundtrack without it getting boring or repetitive.
Immediately subscribed. River Boy, I want you on videogames everywhere. Soundtracks deserve to be treated like this. Played through the whole game and then immediately began listening to the OST to hear tracks like this again. Absolutely outstanding.
I listen to this soundtrack almost every day when I work, it's just that good. Cult of the Lamb has gotta be in my top 10 games of all time, not the least of which is because of the music.
The dedication to adding both ambiance and choosing the correct synths and finding the right vibe for this OST (you are WILD, River Boy) is crazy. I can't stop playing the game, and I really have to give credit to the excitement and the feeling that the music also provides. I am so impressed with the mix of creepy and also the right texture of music to match the art design, especially in this track! :3
May darkwood always be on a special part of my heart and always my favorite area. Although Silk cradle gotta be my second favorite area. I just love the vibes in this area. Im so glad Im not an acrachophobe, cuz I love spiders sm.
this song is just so good man, my top 3 is Praise the lamb, silk cradle and anchordeep, in that order. (also do i sense some inspiration from "The Siege" in Silk Cradle ?)
I absolutely love this OST and couldn't shake the feeling that it reminded me of another OST from a horror game. For anyone looking for it like me, it reminded me of Mr. Hopp's Playhouse!
Theres a scratchy, spider leg sounding noise that's panned as if its behind you as its playing. Clever detail. Havent noticed anything "behind" me entirely up until this track.
Welcome to the videogame soundtrack industry, River Boy. I'll just let you know that pick most of my games based on the composer because music is more important than anything in a world where you'll "waste" hours into it. There's nothing more frustrating than a good game with bad music. I'd rank you among Darkest Dungeon, and Danny B's work, in the indie category. Hope to see your name onto other games ! 🙏
It may be a coincidence but each location ost has a set time playing. Darkwood 1 minute, Anura 2, Anchordeep 3 and Silk craddle 4. I find this fact funny as the ost length perfectly matches with their order in game
I went through a weird, cringey and embarrassing Hazbin Hotel (and Helluva Boss) phase and let me tell you, it was so satisfying to kill so many spiders.
I love both of those shows but I still hate spiders lol, had a bad irl experience with one. It is fun to kill them... which is why I like the game deep rock galactic so much too lmao

Also, the fact that you can hear the little pitter patterns of the spiders in the song

when i first went into the silk cradle, i immediately noticed that the music there is much more intense. it's very fast paced and keeps you on edge.
The more I played through this game, the more I was like: "The Lamb feels less and less evil and more and more heroic as time goes on"
Well they’re trying to stop the old faith from sacrificing more denizens of the forest and they might be able to overthrow even the one who waits.
@@cometcartoons8528 Yeah, but that doesn't make them any better. The Lamb can be just as evil as the Old Faith, if not more so, if you make them.
