Love your videos!! Just subscribed. New to this hobby. Question: I'm buying a Heng Long T90. Thought the Pro version was 100% the way to go for durability and performance. Now I read that the metal components might have a downside for this model. The extra weight slowly lowers the suspension, reduces the ground clearance and puts stress on the plastic lower hull. Battery run time and speed are also reduced. (small battery compartment) I only plan to run it over pavement, dirt, and grass...what would you recommend? The upgraded version with just the steel gearbox, or the pro version additional metal tracks, sprockets, and wheels? Thanks.

I see videos on RC car battery's but none on tanks...can we use higher rated battery's like a 5000 mah versus the 3700 or smaller? The Tamiya has two 7.2 battery's inside the tank. Even though there's two do you recommend a higher capacity like 5000 versus 3700 or smaller? Thanks
@@StanlleyLegion hey thanks for fast response....I noticed all the upgrades you talk about in your video's. It sounds like heng long has all the good upgrades. I know Heng Long is a good tank for the money compared to the Tamiya. Especially for the motors. I would buy a heng long except that I'm interested in doing the build of a Tank, and creating color and style of the Tamiya's. Even though I hate the cost of them at least I can build it myself. What's your opinion of the heng long versus the Tamiya 1/16 tanks?
@@tracymcknight8978 hi Tracy. I have limited experience with Tamiya RC Tank in general. HL tanks are much cheaper and accessible to the masses. After 7 years in this hobby I just got my first Tamiya Leopard 2 tank. The RTR concept of HL makes it easier for the masses too without the hassle of putting a kit together. How many people start but never completed their numerous model kits is staggering! Also Tamiya tanks do have upgrades but relatively rare compared to HL.
just wondering though, alot of Heng long tanks these days have all this as standard which for a new modeller is fantastic as the tank is gonna last a long time. AT least henlong is listening and making upgrades as with alot of other RC hobby companies which are producing the cheaper stuff.
as this video was from 2017 and Heng Long did make improvements with the v6.0 MFU, but tanks still come in all plastic gearbox, tracks etc, but there are options for steel gearbox and the MS version, steel gearbox and metal tracks and sprockets. As far as RC tanks are concerned, HL is making the cheapest RC tanks which are the most common on the market. Other brands made weird scales 1/18 or tanks with zero parts compatiblity so those don't count.
Hi Stanley, I have ordered an upgraded gear box and axle support bearings for my challenger 2 from you guys. I have bought the upgraded metal wheel set after watching the second video. Do you have a video/instructions of fitting the metal hydrogas suspension that I can see on your challenger 2. I'm struggling to find anything on fitting it.

Thanks for the swift response Stanley In your opion is it not worth doing? And do I need to upgrade/adjust the suspension spring tension? Lastly after doing these modifications I will looking into the clark tk boards do these come as a complete kit and are they easy to fit.
the metal suspension bits for the CH2 is optional really- it was a lot of effort getting them on, but it's a nice bit of kit. the kit comes with the springs. Clark TK boards does fit almost PnP (plug and play) but you must know how it works, getting a hobby grade radio to go with it (we recommend the FS-i6S radio) and assigning the channels etc. But it's WORTH it!
I bought the red motors to replace the black ones. What will be the difference. I haven't even received my tank yet. Hopefully this Monday. I'm buying upgrade parts and have not received my tank yet. It's a 1/16 leopard tank with the still gearbox. I also bought the metal idlers and sprockets.
@@StanlleyLegion I bought the 2a6 . Metal ver. It doesn't come with the metal tracks. It's the infored and BB leopard 2A6 leopard 2 tank. I emailed the saler. Asked him what color motor, red or blue. He said it's black.

Does your company sell these high quality upgrade parts? Like the tracks, gearbox, drive sprockets, idler wheels, road wheels, hull strengthing, motors, electronics, etc.
@@StanlleyLegion Excellent. I've been thinking about a 1/16 scale M1 Abrams for my first tank. I would want it to be durable, dependable, have a good amount of operation time (15 minutes or better), some climbing ability (traverse a 20 degree incline minimum) and shoot those little plastic bb's...maybe water proofing (I might want to drive it through the snow from time to time) and unless I forgot something, that should just about do it for the upgrades I'd want. Thank you for answering my question in such a timely manner.

Hi Andreas, danke schon mein fruend. 1) I sell this on my website 2) this is actually the old version v.5.3, HL had to make it smaller as the BB unit is hitting the battery compartment.. 3) I sell this, it is the Ultimate Gearbox 4) it is not HL metal arms but from a different supplier which I don't deal with anymore (this was 2017)
my problem now is that you can't buy these steel springs from the swing arms anywhere, the ball bearings I ordered on eBay! I don't think it's a good thing from HL that these are not installed!

It's all good. Just upgrade the battery to a Lipo (get a proper charger too)

Yes of course you can always use a larger capacity battery, as long as it fits. You can also use Lipo 2S (2 cells) battery

Mate. The Tiger 1 (all the front sprockets type tanks) don't have the anti slip sprockets.

you will need the correct 2.4ghz MFU (multi function unit) board with the HL radio.
