    I think it eminently fair, given that they're about 250M of us who want to watch the game in India, and about 12 guys who want to watch it in Australia..😇😁

    On the fielding Agar Zampa and Head (baring THAT catch in the ODI final) are consistently under par. I guess when there is three of them where do you hide them.
    Bowling wise when you leave out a seamer you need a secondary option just in case. That would normally be Marsh or Green. The captaincy to bowl Gulbadin was top notch. That crazy variance in bounce and making the call to bowl seamers so heavy despite having the extra spinner selected.
    And 8 bowling options quite amazing.

      Yeah so many allrounders in that Afghanistan team! If they can find a couple of consistent middle order batters their team will be so well balanced. Spot on about Aus fielding, too. Zampa’s fielding is often a topic of conversation for Baldy! Lucky he’s such a clever bowler.

    I think you're right that India won't change it's side for Australia. But St Lucia is decent for pace so they could consider Siraj over Kuldeep.

      Good point - Kuldeep is so fun to watch though for us spinners. Hope he keeps his spot.

      You have to choose a better bowler unless the pitch is overwhelmingly suited for a particular choice.

    Good call on Chris Jordan - England looking very dangerous now with those openers on fire.

    Seemed like Aus was over confident all through this tournament. Specially for Agf match. Benching starc is a proof of that.
    Underestimating opponents has always been weakness of Aussie XI

      @thetoporderpodcast  3 місяці тому

      Yes we thought benching Starc was a mistake, although Rohit seemed to enjoy facing him yesterday!

    How does India always become favorite?
    Let them win something before we start callinng them favorites.
    If nerves is the biggest skill in pressure games which it is, they haven't shown that in 10 years.

    • @thetoporderpodcast
      @thetoporderpodcast  3 місяці тому +1

      Good point about the nerves. But as long as India have this much talent in their squad, they are going to be one of the favourites at every ICC event. Do you think they need to embrace that favourites tag a bit more?

    Most probably Indians will cry again on Monday after losing again to Aust and going out of WC by nrr.
    But if they miraculously go to the SF, it will be curtains if meet England.
    For first time, only the die hard Indian fans still believe India will win this WC while majority are not confident of it happening.
    Nov 19th scars will take years to heal for the Indian fans.

      It would take quite the set of results for India to miss out on net run rate, but there have been a few surprises in this World Cup so far so I guess we never know until it happens.

    • @honeriley
      @honeriley 3 місяці тому

      From ESPN Cricinfo, Sun 23 June: "India are sitting pretty with an NRR of 2.425. For them to get knocked out, both Australia and Afghanistan will have to win by big margins. Australia will need to beat India by 41 runs to go past them on run rate, while Afghanistan will have to beat Bangladesh by at least 83 runs."

      41 runs win is not impossible to be done by Aust as if they can win the final in India, they can do it in the Caribbean .
      Plus Indian top batters are really not firing in all cylinders and they can go out cheaply to the Aussie fast bowlers.
      After Nov 19th, are you ready to guarantee that India can win? I certainly am not . We pray for the best.🙏🙏

      I hv learned my lesson on Nov 19th so i will be sceptical until last ball has been bowled.
      No point winning all matches but losing at the most important match.
      Enough of expecting but have to see the reverse happen.

  • @roobanloganathan6498

    India’s plan is simple as Rohit said, thy prefer if each of top 6 get 30 runs thus no need for any to get 50 or 100.
    This is why thy start hard from beginning and don’t care if any goes out after that.

    Afghanis cut off Travis Head with speed of light . ANDD WITHOUT Michelle Starc, Australians are CUELESS. I mean, come on - Allowing a century first wicket partnership for first wicket? How low quality fast bowlers have to be to allow that?

    • @thetoporderpodcast
      @thetoporderpodcast  3 місяці тому

      I think you’re selling Gurbaz and Ibrahim short a little, but agree it felt like Starc should have been in the side - and Australia needed to be better in the field.

  • @glehal83
    @glehal83 3 місяці тому

    Disagree with the Starc take gents. TY e biggest reason by far is Australia did not bat responsibly. They had a bit of an air of “we will just smash them… they are Afghanistan, we are Australia”. Over aggressive. Maxwell was the only one to respect the conditions.

    • @thetoporderpodcast
      @thetoporderpodcast  3 місяці тому

      Fair enough - different opinions are great to hear. Definitely not trying to say selection was the only issue. You’re spot on about the responsibility of the batters and the fielding let them down too - just think that opening partnership for Afghanistan is so strong that having Starc there to try to get a wicket or two in the power play was worth the risk.

    Starc was left out due to tactical reasons and not due to injuries.
    The captain said they felt they needed another spinner after seeing the conditions of the pitch.

      Yeah maybe in hindsight Hazlewood should have been the one to miss out
