Im glad Fred isn't around to see what a mess we live in now! He was one of the amazing people that walked these lands.
Brings a tear to my eye. Gentlemen walked in this land, once. People like Fred made you mean it when you said GREAT Britian, and it's got nothing to do with race or immigration or profitability or anything else, it's all about the goodness of the content of people's hearts. Fred was an ambassador for better times and the world is poorer without him.
@@stitcha123 well she knew what time he wanted his dinner so that’s on her.
@@poochie81 fair enough, I suppose if your mum made a mistake she would deserve a punch to the head or two.
Top man Fred. He might have left this mortal coil, but he's still with us.
A true honest , working class legend
Ah yes "The olden days", hang 'em and flog 'em. Bring back the birch, cut their fingers off.
Seriously, this guy is a lunatic, and doesn't deserve air time.
@SteamlocoScrapper your opinion puts you very much in the minority. The guy was a national treasure and remains highly well respected even to this day. I think you’re misunderstanding the sentiment of what he’s saying 🤦🏼♂️
Oh Fred, you should see the lunacy that prevails and is in fact encouraged and even protected today !
Aye. The world is a bloody nuthouse. Nowadays Fred would be labelled politically incorrect, misogynistic, and all the other faff that goes with the current state of affairs.
great guy, this country needs more like him , Alas its a bit too late , RIP Fred 2018 and not forgotten, I am still absolutely gutted he died & its a damn shame what happened to his house & possessions.,
This guy was a Legend!!
He was spot on then, and it's still actual today.
Great man. This is someone who represents the working class and what we all stand for, even today he still would. We've taken even more steps backward since Fred's day. We need people like Fred in this country again.
Well said Fred! what a Prime Minister you would have made!
Hardly, he is literally advocating capital punishment based on the system in Iran, is that the future you want?
love him,a down to earth true gent, old school
He was and still is Completely Correct!
Should have been made Home Secretary our Fred !! RIP
I'm a memorial mason and clearly remember a regular spat of grave vandalizing at the town church yard.
After some Investigation the vandals turned out to be spoilt wealthy public school students.
Typical innit? Just like Fred said, they're a bunch of bloody pleasure seekers. Never had to work a day in their life and had everything handed to em on a silver platter. They wouldn't last a day outside their privileged lives.
We need to show this to the blm protesters.
He's bloody right you know.
100% agree with Fred, he was a true gentleman
Yes old school Fred, and you are right about everything, a great bloke and sadly missed.
Tanja, I went there to pay my respects a couple of weeks ago. Sat as you did and reflected upon life.
could listen to this man all day every day, class bloke
Fred was absolutely right. Society continues to decay.
Wise words, wise man!
RIP Fred!
What a man.
Spot on Mr. Dibnah.
More common sense in Fred than a whole wagon load of politicians. Rest easy Fred there’s nowt to be done till the pendulum swings.
Fred's comments are even more applicable today. He was right, things keep getting worse and worse.....
What sort of idiot would dislike this vid?! He speaks the truth and is very apt for what's going on today. RIP Fred you legend.
Great man, none like him now 🇬🇧🙏
oh Fred. I'm 32. Fast forward to 2022. Its a mess, no common sense. What can I say other than I'm listening, and I love you and what you are, and should still be now in this British culture.
So true and so right. Fred is a legend
This man is a god, I couldn't sum up the country's ills better than Fred, I agree so passionately with what he says. I remember seeing this on TV and I've been telling people about it ever since... What a legend, thanks for posting.
Agree with alot of what Fred said, old school thinking but boy he's right on the money, he really is, god bless you Fred.
I used to live in a house that overlooked a cemetary the majority of damage to gravestones by moving them on their plinths, knocking junks out of them and knocking them over was done by the council ride on mower operators. They never fixed any of the damage they caused.
Revisiting Fred after a few years. I think the quality he brings is the fact that while a working stiff, he possessed an intelligence not expected in such a modest lifestyle, This was from a generation when what you did did not define you but you applied all of your efforts into succeeding at your job. Being well read and insightful was not just for the upper crust.
Well put Mr D
Fred's got my vote
People have forgotten what it's like to really be hungry. We've become too comfortable. Idle hands are the devil's workshop.
'Built in obsolescence 'had not been thought of when this craftsman served his apprenticeship. People were more authentic.
We will never forget you Fred rest in peace my friend
Good God, if only Fred were with us right now, because I sure as hell would vote him into Number 10 !!!!
Imagine how soft Fred would say things have gone in 2021.
@@chrissale8802 He'd probably attach a dynamo and generate some electricity
Softer than the mush our brains have turned into, thanks to excess consumption of too much rubbish in technology.
he was such a nice man, 66 for him was too short a time
A STARR IN THE MAKING!!
Bring back the birch!
A bitter pill to swallow:
A country is only as 'Great' as the sum of its people . And today, we are found wanting ...
he is underestimating the strength of children. He also has some serious rose tinted glasses..like nearly all old people
Exactly. I always find it embarrassing when people talk about how people were better in the past. I guarantee if that happened today, you'd have people his age saying that people didn't do that back in their day.
And he's saying that people in the 30s were good and well behaved? I guess we'll forget all about those goose steppers and communists then.
It is such a shame vandalism even stole the brass off Fred's engines after he passed. I agree with Fred the youngsters of today have nothing to do therefore smash things up. I think national service would be a good thing to be able to vent their frustrations.
Fred was a true great
hip hip hooray hip hip hooray hip hip hooray thanks for posting,i wish i could have had my time in his years, top bloke god rest your soul yer know!
Funny hearing him say how much more civilized the 30s was, when there was literally a huge world war
Fred speaks my language.....Bollocks to the rest.
I went on a walking tour of Hempstead Heath, way back in 1988. We saw the tombs that had been tagged by vandals, and the paint manufacturers came to see if they could get the spray paint off themselves. One of them said, "I know they weren't Greek immigrants in Sheffield, because they all work in my factory and send their pay home. Whomever did this has no job."
Socialism, welfare, council flats, comprehensive school, getting rid of the grammar schools, what do you expect those hoodlums to become?
There is no cemetery or graveyard on Hampstead Heath, so you’re talking absolute sh*t you stupid boomer
Till the day I die I will never understand the mentallity of any man that destroys a grave. In my mind they should be in their own and gone.
That’s what we need values there’s nothing today
We need some politicians like Fred
Amen
Well said Fred
Sounds familiar today as well, "But the people who argue against it never come up with a bloody solution, ever."
spot on fred with his assessment. Racedemon89 you talk shit, yobs and vandals exist in every town. Does the term village idiot mean owt to you? Lay off the anti northern crap. Afterall the man telling us his opinion is a true northern gent who's extremely proud of his roots.
Great post, enjoyed it.
Fred, rest his soul, is so right. I think we'll probably see a return to those days of old, where hard graft, genuine skill and discipline were the foundations of society; Once the oil starts running out that is, which may be sooner than we expect.
Haven't grown up in fear. True.
but the people that can make these changes never do , they never listen to people like fred who make sense. they never listen to us. when they talk its just words nothing is ever done, when we watched fred we saw a man who was proud of the industry we had and the things we made. In a 100 years time what industry will they look back on with such wonder as he did.............so sad
Fred confusing the EEC with the European Convention on Human Rights here. But he has a point in that we have agreed to restrict something without agreeing on how to replace it.
well said
Rip Fred, However, Very True what he says.
Fred even knew the Common Market (ie the EU) was a pile of crap back then and would spell only more trouble for us. Farage was barely out of school time this was filmed. That rarest skill they call Wisdom.
The Common Market/EU had nothing to do with banning corporal punishment. Fred may be thinking about the institution Britain drove after WW2, the European Convention on Human Rights.
How's that "wisdom" working out for you now? Or are you still fanatical about the religion of Brexit?
So much for that "oven ready deal" eh? 😂
Top man Fred.
It'll get worse before it gets better.
I’ve lived next door to a cemetery for years and to be honest, a lot of the fallen headstones are pushed over by council workers deliberately if they are deemed unsafe and not stable and likely to kill (given the size of a lot of the older ones) or injure someone. Having said that, since they mechanised the burials (no shovels, but mini diggers) and are using large sit on mowers to maintain the grass, there’s no doubt a lot of damage to grave markers has been done.
There are reputable reports of local councils doing this, and not one of them denied it.
looks like the sort of thing our council would do ,
With Fred @ the right hand of IKB who Knows what could have been Acheived. ???
no sound now?
Society is too soft on these people these days. I blame all these anally retentive PC brigade that push for no punishment in schools and have made the police's jobs a whole lot more difficult.
When I was at school in the early 80's you did fear doing something wrong because of the consequences after. The cane and slipper were always shown by the headmaster to the whole school at assemblies. Fred certainly speaks a lot of truth.
A negative reference to the "Common Market" (EU) and the need for some sort of National Service. Fred Dibnah was a good man.
👍👏👏👏
Much sense here...I speak from personal experience, being nearer 70 than 60, Much of the younger generation just do mix with, speak with, or have any respect for the 'older' generation, or even adults they'd as well be aliens & considered a joke; just look at the shit they are in; growing mental health issues etc. etc. You have to visit and work on all of you own 'houses' regularly; the physical, emotional and spiritual. It has become a very cerebral world; where people are afraid to be an individual and bow down to peer pressure via the 'evil'' side of social media etc.
national service....
It should have been the house of Lord's for Fred....! 🍺
Too many ‘humans rights’ nowadays where people can get away with doing what they want. Sadly the justice system, prisons etc have become too lenient on criminals.
I truly believe 23 hour a day lock ups should be mandatory, for anyone who has committed a crime that resulted in prison
The greatest Prime Minister, Britain never had. Like, yer know.
If he saw the UK now 😬
O dear 💪🙏💕✋ be nice boy’s
Called insulate Britain today and similar wicked and evil berks!
Bloody right they lived in fear
Each generation says the same thing though…
And now here we are in 2022 and its just ...well...complete madness.
this is true, and even mps proberbly think this is true so why dont they do something about it. Think they may be scared of lossing there well paid job if they happen to offend someone
Spleeen4it go do an IQ test and I guarantee you'll be less than 100, honestly go and do one
Imagine he saw what kids got upto today!
Although it's funny how we always think the kids from yesteryear were much more well behaved
Only God knows what Fred would think of the world now.
He is the English Hank Hill ^^
All millennials want is a life of pleasure! How right you are Sir! How right you are!
Ultimate mark of disrespect to damage gravestones. I'm sure Fred would have put them in their place.
Stale old right wing conservatism. A breath of fresh air!
Basically the default, normal settings of a healthy society free of the trash-brains that we have now.
The instant solution would've been a compulsory chat with Fred at the top of a 200 foot chinmey.
The problem with making the sort of people who vandalise graveyards do National Service is - the Army don't want such wasters in it's ranks.
@045099256 your right and its very sad, is there a way back ?? to late i think ,but if i had my way, well thats another story
2:48 Nau, they hav' no respect for Nothin'! ^^ So fucking funny... but true.
Most of the vandalism was done by architects in the 1960's with their disgusting concrete monstrosities. Nowadays we have metal and glass monstrosities.
Spot on matey.......authoritarians making dumb decisions to destroy whole towns in the name of 'bent deceitful progress' ought to be wholly accountable!! Deplorable are they!!!
He should be made "Sir Fred"!
I went up to Freds grave a few days ago and had a sit by him with a can of Guinness, cleaned his grave off and had a think about the great man that he was, while I tried to put my own life in perspective to whats going on in the world around. Im 35 years old, grew up watching Fred. An honest hard working man and one of my true sources of inspiration, non of this hollywood crap and singers giving me pearls of wisdom and inspiration like this man did. We were so lucky to have Fred, he should be taught in the national curriculum in my personal opinion. This man was the true embodiment of realising your aspirations, he had fortitude, grit, integrity, honesty, drive, passion, vigour, dedication and thats only naming a few of his attributes. He was and still is my hero.
Tanja where is his grave. I'd like to visit it.
@Mark Sesum Of course it is normal. Many people visit grave yards to feel some connection and throughout time mankind has built shrines. Some societies have a day or two every year where they remember the dead and visit graves. Some even lay out picnics on the grave, eating food loved by the deceased. There is nothing creepy or odd about it. Tanja, do what works for you.
Good on you tanja.. fred was a good man with morals , some of the youth nowadays have no idea what respect is , your dead right pal
Well said.
