Oceania Sprint Championships - 2024

Orienteering sprint event that doubled as a World Orienteering Champs qualifier and Auckland Triple Crown - Race 1. Race 2 tomorrow :)
Around the intricate map of the University of Auckland and adjacent Albert Park, in downtown Auckland - probably the hardest sprint map I've run on. Fast and tight, with a couple of tunnels - all the buildings make the GPS a bit loose.
M55 - 2.7km, 21 controls - held on for second place - misread my control description heading to 4, realised I was about to cut through olive green so backed out, lost contact with the map and lost a few seconds for my lack of concentration.
