I was 15 in 1985 and it's been a wild ride to 2023....wake up one day , your daughter is 18 and your 50 something....this song hits hard
I'm almost 50 and have 21 and 19 year old daughters. We're going to see these guys for 1st time this September 😊
I’m 53 and now my daughter will be 24 in February. I cannot believe how fast time goes. We laughed when our parents said time flies…. They’re right.
Hard yes, I laugh though as it HAS been a wild ride to 2024! (Hint the songs cool but keep your Generation a secret, you all voted for the every mess since W.Clinton😉 and mine fought all those wars as yours ruled over...) {rant done, sorry but maybe the same song done over and over had an effect?}
Your older then me and my daughters just turned 18 and my son is 15.
43 this year just behind ya brother.

The sequel to "High school never ends" i didn't know i needed.
Ha ya
You r recycled. High school truly does never end
And 1985 kinda.
Same bro
And to “20 Years (That’s A Lot Of Beers)”
1985 - You're a teenager who doesn't understand old people yet because you're in the prime of your youth and you don't have hard nostalgia.
High School Never Ends - You're stepping into the adult world now.
Getting Old Sucks - You're now the old person, but instead of being stuck in the past you accept that everybody grows old. Getting old sucks, but we're doing it right!
oh shit
Next year we'll be as far away from the release of 1985 as the release was from 1985!
56 still don't understand old people.
I'm a 48 year old punk GRANDMOTHER!!!! My oldest kid ia 30!!!!!!
i'd actually put 1985 in the middle, because you've stepped into the adult world and you're not quite old, but you're recognizing all the signs that you're no longer "kids these days" but you're not yet saying "kids these days".
I think a better timeline is:
Stacy's Mom (cover)
Girl All the Bad Guys Want
Almost
High School Never Ends
1985
Getting Old Sucks
I bet we could make an entire narrative story out of their music of a boy and girl growing up in proximity, not getting together, and hating their lives as adults
1:41- The drawing of Rob makes me chuckle
Nothing like the band you've listened to since 15 (I'm 31 now) releasing a song about getting old, to make you feel super old 😅😂
Love the song!
Same! I've been listening to them since I was 16, and I'm 33 now. I feel this in my bones, and we're still nearly, what 20 years younger than them?
I just sent this to my sibling and told them to feel old with me as they listen lol
31? 33? Pah! You don't know the half of it (and before you criticize this, remember I AM YOUR FUTURE!)
@@MirlitronOne it' the known unknown of age for us. I know it's only just begun.
Good Lord, I would KILL to be 31 or 33 again! Talk to me in 20 years and we'll see how old you feel then. Early 30s are great. You're old enough to know how dumb you used to be but not old enough that your body has turned on you yet. Enjoy it while you can!
Thanks Bowling For Soup for bringing my early 2000’s nostalgia rise from the ashes.
To me, hearing just the words of this song, reminds me of the early 2000’s, the time when I listened to this band. Anyone agree?
Fuckin rights it does! Makes me feel 16 all over again! 🙃
I still listen to this band
Man this is like a more realistic first person 1985. I’m glad these dudes are still just as talented as ever
I take it as a sequel.
Then: Ha look at her she's old
Now: Oh... Oh.
I listened to you guys in middle school.
I'm 28 now.
Glad y'all are still kickin!
Feeling old yet?
Same.. I'm 29 now
Wow, thanks for making me feel ancient (40).... 28 is NOT old lol
Wait til you hit 30. It's like life hits the nitro button on yer ass. Life feels slow now, you're gonna wish you could slow it down.
Jesus... Me too.. My feels and im 29
Shoutout to my 14-year-old self listening to you guys in high school. You helped me get through some excruciating class hours back then, and I am happy to still hear you now.

*Imagine a continuation special of Phineas and Ferb where the gang hangs out and goes on crazy adventures once more as adults, with this being the opening theme.*
I don’t think a series would work, but maybe a one time special where the gang is all in town for thanksgiving or something. but I think a big part of the series is that kind of collective free time to be creative together only really happens for those 104 days of summer vacation as a kid and then life moves on and people have different schedules and paths...
This would be badasssss

The problem with adulthood is, you never know what it's about until it hits you after a few decades of it, then it's too late and you have to deal with the new generation of -jerks- kids who don't know.

The pop punk revival is in Full swing. Pop punk's not dead
It doesn't ever die.
This is pop punk. Not that whiney emo shit from the 00s
@@tmb1065emo and punk pop are pretty much the same thing their is hardly any difference
@@slapbass8723 respectfully disagree. To me "pop punk" is Ramones, Riverdales, Screeching Weasel, Me First and the Gimmie Gimmies, Blink, Rancid, BFS, NFG, Boris the Spinkler--- basic I-IV-V do-wop on speed. Emo is more FOB, AMR, PATD, MCR, Paramore, etc. Yellowcard, Sum41, Good Charlotte, etc. being a bridge between the two. When I want to hear "pop punk," I want fun, fast, drunken, fuck shit up music, not whiney, I wanna commit suicide music. But then, I am just an out of touch old fart so....
@@slapbass8723 The are different BUT they both had their place in the 00’s. I agree Ramones are my number one Pop Punk band but the 2000’s really made it mainstream for better or worse. Also Machine Gun Kelly is bringing Pop Punk back in lots of ways. It’s a pretty exciting time for music. I have not felt that way maybe ever before. I think it’s hope for future of music. 🥰🎶 🎸 🪨
Man listening to these guys for the last 20+ years, makes me feel old but I’m glad they still got it. Punk Rock 101 forever!
When they asked the kids if they were a little young to be doctors the kids should’ve said “well aren’t you a little old to be alive”
all the comments are people in their 30s going on about how they loved this band when they were a teenager, im seventeen and a huge fan... mum come pick me up im scared
39 here lol! I grew up to Good Charlotte, Green Day, Linkin Park, Avril Lavigne, Papa Roach.....well you get the idea. My kids are 9, 17, and 20, they were brought up on all these bands I listened too 😊
I turned 38 this year. This song was made for us geriatric millenials...
The irony is that “1985” is probably now considered “classic rock.”
ow
Not yet but somehow Green Day is. Like wtf!??
LOL it is Xd
Proof that not everything old is a classic.
A category I fall into.
I find it hilarious when people are listening to covers and either not realising it is a cover or remembering a previous cover when I am remembering the original. One recent incident was seeing White Wedding being covered by MurderDolls. Someone declared it wasn't a Billy Idol track because he didn't write it, not considering most bands don't write their stuff. I liked the original version but my tastes have gotten a lot heavier with age so the cover is more me now.
Aparently we are supposed to mellow with age. I have to be the oddball who gets more messed up as I age. The good news is people seem more OK with angry old man than angry youngster. Though I do get accused of trying to be down with the kids for listening to newer tunes on occasions. The irony that I wasn't down with the kids as a kid let alone at nearly 50 years old is not lost on me.
@@KermitFrogThe I recently had some youngster say "Oh, I didn't know Reel Big Fish did a version of 'Beer'". Apparently, its been covered by a newer pop punk band and dude had no idea.
1985 to high school never ends to this. Ain’t always about getting hits they have catchy lyrics

In my late teens/early 20s, I loved BFS. And now I'm coming up on 40 and damn do I feel this song. Especially "always thought we'd live forever/I don't think we're up for that." Getting old does suck, but like the song says, it's worth it. And it's cool as hell to have one of my fav bands growing older with me. All the love to BFS and may they keep rocking til they decide to hang up their instruments and take it easy.
This is by far one of the coolest home made music videos i have ever seen. Huge credit to the artists behind the puppets/video.
The funniest part is still being young and listening to this band, knowing you too will get old.
This song most definitely gives me the early 2000s feel I've been longing for quite awhile .
I'm 36 and dread getting older and eventually dying. I love life too much. I hate how things change and I miss loved ones and old memories. I feel this song so hard.... 💔
I may be getting old, but hearing Bowling for soup still making great music in 2021 makes me feel young again :)
Why do I feel this way in my late 20‘s? And wtf is Tik Tok?!
It's because culture moves by really quickly nowadays, and it's guided more by zoomers than millennials at this point. Plus, we're in a shitty time that makes us think more fondly back on the time when it was 2006, we weren't facing our second big recession in the span of a decade, and God wasn't winning a game of Plague Inc against us.
@@austinvanderveer213 real shit. Couldn’t say it any better.

Talk about a band that matures and expands. I love that Bowling For Soup grows and ages with it's fan base. I like "What's My Age Again", but I'm far from 23yrs old and can't relate. lol. So I hope they keep rocking out into their 50's and beyond.
Lyrics for fellow old listeners:
He grew up three blocks away
The same old neighborhood
Spends too much time on his lawn
When there's no football on
Where did the time go?
What's that on his face?
Always thought we'd live forever
I don't think we're up for that
Get to bed by 9 PM
We used to run wild in the streets
Now we come play with
Car stripes, and fast, and the music is insanely loud
Now our tattoos are fading away
And looking back it was all worth it
The truth is getting old sucks
But everybody's doing it
We're worked at all the same jobs
We chased the same girls
We played in all the same bands
Each other's bestest man
You had a heart attack
I've got two bum knees
We don't wanna live forever
What the fuck is Tik Tok
Low checkers bean goes coming down
We used to run wild in the streets
Now we come play with
Car stripes, and fast, and the music is insanely loud
Now our memories are fading away
And looking back it was all worth it
The truth is getting old sucks
But everybody's doing it
Alright
I don't think we can do bridges anymore
We need a break
Smells like werthers original in here
And old Milwaukee
And Folgers
Are those New Balance?
We used to run wild in the streets
Now we come play with
Car stripes, and fast, and the music is insanely loud
Now the movies are cartoons
And remakes are shit dead what's better
When we played our music
To them now our memories are fading away
And looking back it was all worth it (and looking back it was all worth it)
The truth is getting old sucks
But everybody's doing it
Everybody's doing it
Everybody's doing it
Everybody's doing it
The truth is getting old sucks
But we're doing it right
"When cars drive too fast"
is this the power of ai? "Golf, checkers, bingo, dominoes, We used to run wild in the streets now we complain when cars drive too fast and the music is insane we love now our memories are fading away"
Like the Geico gecko said.
"I don't think that's right."
Getting old sucks, "but we're doing it right"... love that! Listened to the band since their 2002's Girl all the bad guys want
I was at The Dollyrots' show the other night and let's just say the crowd was very representative of this song. I thought to myself damn, this crowd is old and then I realized I am too. We're all getting there, but we may as well do it right... minus the pit. No one needs to be breaking a hip at our ages by going into a pit!
I'm 50...I feel this. 🤣 Honestly, 50 is my favorite year so far. Hang in there. 😎🌱

Best band ever !! So happy they still make music !!!
0:24 , 3:18 PHINEAS AND FERB REFERENCES OMG.
The sound of the music in this song, takes me all the way back to 2004/2005 when I was 12 and 13 listening to this band. They're keeping the same sound that they had back in the day and bringing back the nostalgia. Very good guys!
OMG I LOVE THIS BAND!!! I started listening when 1985 came out. That’s the year I graduated high school (so you KNOW I’m old 😂) and was the BEST year seriously. It’s like I wrote 1985. My 2 kids WERE in high school, and told me I was uncool a LOT. I’ve seen all the classics, I know every line. Breakfast Club, Pretty in Pink, even St Elmos Fire. I rocked out to Wham.... ETC. I’ve watched that video COUNTLESS times and I play all your songs when I wanna ROCK OUT in the car and I need some HAPPY JUICE! I am BEYOND excited to be moving to Texas in this next year so MAYBE MAYBE MAYBE I can see you guys live someday! 💜💜❤️❤️🕶
Word. Class of '85 representin'.
I remember when I was in kindergarten a kid sang 1985 for the talent show, and when he sang "she was gonna shake her ass" all the teachers started freaking out. That was my first introduction to Bowling for soup. Then my dad used to play their albums in his dump truck when I was a kid. Then I was reintroduced through Phineas and Ferb. Then jump to now I'm a full ass 23 year old adult working a job I hate, but blasting bowling for soup definitely makes my shift go by quicker!
Can't wait to share their music with my kids one day.
I really hope the band sees this comment (although I doubt they will) but god damn I fucking love this band. Its by far my favorite band, and It’s the only one I’ve ever wanted to go see in concert. I started listening when I was starting in highschool in 2014, and I’m still an avid fan coming up on my 21st birthday. It’s the only band that can cheer me up when I’m at my worst time (especially the song I’m Gay as I grew more comfortable with my gender and sexuality).
I know 20 seems young to a lot of people but I’ve been really worried lately that I’m not doing as good as some people my age. With all the bat shit crazy stuff happening in the world, it makes me feel like I’m failing. Again, I know I’m young, but ‘Getting Old Sucks’ is something I can relate to a bit.
Thank you guys, sincerely, for making another song that makes me feel good, inspires me, and fucking SLAPS. Now... off to working on the 10,000 essays I have due for finals. Cheers!
Thank you so much for the kind words!
They’ve been one of my favorite punk rock type groups since the early 2000s ... IT WAS NEVER A PHASE
Dude don't compare your life with other people. It's pointless. Instead just be the best version of you that you can be. Work hard to achieve your goals and to ultimately do what makes you happy. That is what matters. Everyone has their own path with highs and lows. Just try to make yours the best it can be. Good luck. I believe in you. And I bet I'm not the only one that does. 🙂

Getting old is best thing there is in life no matter how shifty it is you get to live it
Ever since I heard the song "Almost" and " A**hole' I was in love. Been listening since. Also, this is one of the 3 bands I have ever seen in concert.
They're so fun live! I saw them shortly before my college graduation (Cinco de Mayo 2011, in Pittsburgh). There was some dude that kept screaming at them from the upper level of the club they were playing, wanting to hear Out the Window... Loved the smaller venue and just the vibe from the fans.
