I saw a commercial for it about a month ago, haven't seen it since, but it thoroughly upset me. lol I secretly hope it doesn't go anywhere. haha The golden lab was big enough to have babies - inside of it! Here in America, for the most part, second hand toys are pretty cheap; most ppl find them at garage sales or yard sales because the seller doesn't know what they have or it's slightly damaged. When you get into collectable toys, that's a whole other ballgame. lol I bet you could find the larger version online, I don't know if it's sold everywhere so you might have to limit the search to American stores but you can see what I'm talking about it. Felt wrong, ya know?

I wouldn't call this a professional restoration. Restoration is restoring what is already there and she replaces many things with mediocre materials like acrylic paint and polymer clay. She says that it's for herself so I feel like the title should be different but she still did a great job and it's awesome that she finds joy in it
I was thinking the same thing, specially because I’m sure that in a lot of pro restorations it is common to use materials that can be reversible in case you need to redo the restoration in the future.
Conservation is maintaining the condition and essentially preserving what is already there. Restoration is returning the piece to its original appearance & state, sometimes it would include an additive process to fix what's broken or missing in the item. She shouldn't have used materials which do not closely match what is present on the original. But it's a toy so here it's not a big deal . *I study art history, including conservation & restoration
I loved these when I was little. They'd be considered a choking hazard these days. I used to have the little compacts with the big jewel on them and the heart one that had a castle inside and the swan in a little lake.
Lol people would be trippin if they give this to babies, I mean they won't even understand! You just need to slap not for children under 3 yrs on it and it'll be fine. Matter still has polly pocket bow but it's different and really shitty. So shopkins copied (old) polly pocket and... it's a huge success, they did a better job I guess.

this isnt a restoration though. in some parts it is, like polishing the exterior, but there are too many things that were changed from the original (the wings especially) to really consider it a restoration. its more so like freshening it up. edited because i made a few writing errors oof

I tried to find the ones I have in her collection and she seems to have both the ones I have/had as a kid!! So much fun to watch! My daughters & I love Polly Pocket! In the mid-90's to 2000's I used to find sets very cheap at second hand stores, so I had a very nice collection my girls loved to play with. They are now ages 21 to 27 and remember how much fun these were. Last year I found a HUGE bag of vintage Polly's & houses for $30 at a thrift store and you bet I bought it. They were so cute! I matched up and identified all the pieces/sets, so much fun! WE LOVE POLLY!

Edit: and some of the cases have started to get all faded and smudged with dirt and grime that seemed impossible to remove, so that polish should help with that, haha.

My niece has this doll hair that super frizzy and it feels as if she put super glue in it, but when I inspected it closer it looks and feels like a wire brush, I heard boiling water and detergent fixes it but I’ve been having doubts as I don’t wanna ruin the doll for her

As a personal project for her own collection - nice work & it looks fun to do :) If you're planning on reselling the Polly Pockets though it's best to leave them in their original condition! Some of the restorations here changed the look of the original vintage design
I had this as a kid! I loved Polly Pocket as a little girl; it was my only real "girly" love as a child. I had between 30-40 of them in my childhood and I have no idea what happened to them. I got my first one when I was roughly 6. This brought back good memories. :)
The total wing change and using the wrong paints to “restore” these collectibles is bothering me. Also the varnish is going to make the moving parts freeze up.
I collect both Polly and Max! I didn’t play with Mighty Max, or even really give it any mind, when I was a kid. But as an adult I realized how much detail went into them and they’re actually quite breathtaking to look at.

Over the past couple years I have started my own Polly Pocket collection. Even when they arrive in near mint condition its still always a good idea to clean old toys like this. You never know what kinds of germs might be on them. After cleaning comes the hard part though: Repairing and restoring! Your videos give such great advice and have helped me restore some of my Pollys. Currently all of my stuff is in storage, but I just got a new house, and once we move in and get settled I'll be doing all kinds of art projects, including fixing up all of my old Polly Pockets. I'm sure I'll be watching a whole lot of your videos for advice then! 🥰 Edit: Oooh I just remembered something. Hobby Lobby and probably a lot of other craft store sell special Q-tips for art projects and cleaning. I got some small really pointy ones. They're great for getting in those small spaces and corners where regular Q-tips might not fit.

She’s also not using restoration grade acid free products. The polycrylic at the end made me cringe.

I had many Pollys but my fave was "Fairylight Wonderland" I begged and waited a long time for that bc the light up ones were pretty expensive!
