No. There is no time change in this song whatsoever. He keeps the symbol high so he doesn’t overuse it. It takes an extra amount of exertion to hit it at that height, thus, when he does engage it, everyone knows that he fkn meant that shit. That’s why he keeps that high. 🤘

Moreover, he admits exactly my intimation above in an interview-stating he wants to keep his cymbal at a slightly challenging distance above so you know every time he hits it, It’s more meaningful. And in doing so, it doesn’t get overused. Out of his own mouth. Plus, your theory wouldn’t explain the same situation when they play concerts on much larger stages-where space is not an issue. And in those instances, he still uses the highly positioned crash cymbal. ✌️
@@ltrizzle12 no, thats not true. if you put the cymbal lower at the same height of your head, there is 22" inches of space that is eaten up by the cymbal. they didnt start immediately playing festivals, they started playing small clubs and in a small practice space. i talked to the band personally in 2011 and jon said they do this because it was funny and now its their little gimmick. its easy and fun to add some sort of cool musician rationalization after the fact for an interview though. because people run with it...
