Eric, I'm living vicariously through you right now lol. I really don't like eating blues but that's the first fish I can remember catching down there with my grandfather so they are always a fun catch. I have the reel from his surf rod displayed in our living room. Good memories. I used to surf fish a lot at the "point" as we called it, between Holden and Oak Island at the head of Lockwood Folly inlet. Good times!
I’ve heard it’s really good down there but I don’t have any experience yet. This was my first time surf fishing it. You are lucky to have grown up fishing down there.
Love your videos man! Sitting at Topsail beach now watching this storm ruin my last opportunity to fish saltwater until next year, heading back to WNC tomorrow. Been fishing the sound all week after flounder and reds.... Definitely gotta hit the surf next time. Theres always something new to learn about fishing right?....thats part of the reason I like it so much. Tight lines brother!
Man I fish a ton and I still pick up new things every time I go. I have a basis down but it’s always evolving. I hope you have had a great trip and hammered some fish.
When you’re in Wrightsville, where’s some recommended go to spots for red drum. I know the jetty’s at the inlet are good but where else? I’m pretty familiar with area
@@ericwilliamsfishing So when there’s a strong offshore breeze with heavy wave action will you still try to fish? Another question…in your video it’s pretty easy to see bait but will you even try a cast net in heavy waves? Thanks.

That was a first for me so I am excited about it.
I ❤ days like that ! 🐟🐟🐟
You can’t beat it. Thank you!
smoke blue at 170-180 (200F absolute max) about 2-3hrs (until it hits 160F internal).

Thanks brotha. Id take you up on this recipe if I had a smoker.
Nice work!! Holler at me when you get back to Oak Island, I’d love to fish with you sometime!!
Thanks dude. Hopefully this storm hasn't ruined our fall run of mullet...

You did a great job and we are learning a great deal from you!!!
Thank you buddy. It was alot of fun other than being soaked for 4 hours. 😂
I was gonna go down to Emerald Isle but I didn’t cause of the tropical storm
You made the right call. 10’ waves in the surf.
Going to Hatteras next week. You get a chance to throw any metal.
I think I could have worn them out with metal but I stuck to my guns. They are catching chopper blues up there right now.
sweet vid, thx for tips, cya on the water. have you ever launched your jonny at air force rec ramp?
I have not but thank you for checking out the vids.

That’s the only place I catch drum in WB. You can always post up on a creek on the falling tide too and catch them.
Caught a few off the bridge when I was in a duck a few weeks ago. I’m a freshwater fisherman mostly I had no clue what I was doing on the surf 🤣
Did it make you want to go back? Lol.
@@ericwilliamsfishing for sure! I want to try & get back down there before the end of this year & sometime right before spring.
Good Stuff! Any spot recommendations on OKI?
That was my first time surf fishing it so I can’t speak from experience on where is best.
were you down towards caswell ?
Yes sir.
if you liked them blues you would have 3.. haha, Crazy limit on them..
Well that’s true. Lol. I caught about 10 of them but most of them were unusable footage because of the rainy lens.
When is it too windy to surf fish?
My issue is more-so current and water quality when it’s windy. There isn’t a number, more of a lack of positive conditions.

catch and show some cooking!
I need to catch some more. lol. Been a while.
Good stuff, time to dust off the surf gear
Yeah man. Get at it while that mullet is around.
