TikTok strengthens content moderation after cyberbullying incident

- TikTok has enhanced its content moderation system following the death of Hindu activist Rajeswary Appahu, according to Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil.
In response to a supplementary question by R. Yuneswaran (PH-Segamat) during the Dewan Rakyat session on Thursday (July 18), Fahmi stated that TikTok is taking the incident seriously and has increased the number of content moderators proficient in vernacular languages, including Tamil.
Fahmi highlighted that cyberbullying affects individuals across all demographics and advised MPs to caution children under 13 against opening social media accounts.

In fact tik tok have a system where tiktoker can complain direct to them. The problem is nobody is manning the department. I complained about the scam of Oxymeter passed as Glucometer. Its look like tiktok management is complice with the scamers. The scam still continueing. The relevant authroties should take immediate. Action.
don't buy, if don't trust. raise it to the seller and the platform. Alot of scam these days. In fact, too many. Do no wait for authorities, just publicized it and do not buy it.

@@Lynsyn that is very typical. 70-80% of the online comments are from cybertroopers and scammers. few are genuine. many hv deleted their accounts from linkedin, Facebook and so on. tiktok, many accounts gone private. it is pointless to be online for many.
Cyber bully ni boleh bagi denda tak boleh guna fb/twitter/insta/tiktok selama 5 tahun. Aktiviti laman sosial dan penggunaan smartfon dan gajet dalam seliaan polis. Dia buka website apa pun HQ polis boleh nampak. Konfem insaf…org mcm ni takde socmed hilang punca hidup..nak tgk berita try cari suratlhabar je…baru dia belajar apa erti hidup tanpa gajet dan musnahkan hidup org.

denda rm100 bukan hukum sebab kematian, ia hukum salah guna sosial media. melainkan ada bukti lain mengaitkan kematianan mangsa, rm100 sahaja dapat dikenakan.

After her child abducted and killed, her mother keep fight so no other kids face same fate as hers... The result is Amber Alert which saved many kids live after that... Hope something similar will happen here and safe our Malaysians from cyber bullying issue...
add education syllabus teaching about identifying 'cyber threats', from bullying, scam, fake and all instead to respond separately. things will get more complicated with ai soon

Tapi dia juga didakwa atas seksyen 509 kanun keseksaan yg bawa hukuman 5 tahun penjara. Itu dia tak mengaku salah dan minta dibicarakan. Tarikh akan ditetapkan oleh mahkamah nanti.. Kes belum tamat lagi. Tapi sepatutnya dakwa bawah seksyen 306 kanun keseksaan yg bawa hukuman penjara 10 tahun, itu lebih adil ikut pendapat aku.. memang kesian kat mangsa tu dan ibu dia yg menangis tu 😢

Social Media sometimes are as problematic as alcohol, ketum, cocaine. Content should have age classification. Platform or Operator must be held liable for misinformation, scam and death using their platform.

There are alot of rude, unsound, uneducated people online making comments. All have to learn to filter those information before reacting. Frankly, it is waste of time to react to non-sense. Ignoring sometime is a better way. All the comments are recorded for sentiment analysis and can be used for other purposes. Even if you edit, delete, it is recorded. If you want it safe, then do not comment.
u can forget about content moderating when dealing with rude, unsound and uneducated people. The just anyhow say whatever they want, even if it is unrelated, uninformed at times. And many times misinformation is the result in their wake.
that why there are other way to punish the rude comment, such as defamation and slander law. but this tools only can be access by the rich. having being punish for commenting is actually bad than good. bad people can use this law to silent truth.
