Smallrigg looks great. I ordered smallrigg universal case with 2 handles and one with a wireless Bluetooth button.
I returned mine and just got the case one. I did not feel like the case for that one offered my phone the best protection.
"Moment mount is ubiquitous" Moment led the way, but are pretty much out of the lens game. Moment's latest BIG product announcement is that they now sell coffee beans LOL! The two current quality lens manufacturers are Beastgrip (37mm mount) and Sandmarc (17mm mount). Both companies update their lenses each year to ensure 100% compatibility and performance with the latest iPhones. Moment has not updated their lenses in YEARS. The anamorphics still work (they are much more forgiving of lens design changes), but Moment's wide and tele have issues on the latest phones. Same with Moondog, they still offer a moment mount anamorphic, but they have not updated their wide and tele lenses. Seeing as LiteChaser is pretty much copying the SmallRig cage, they should also offer SmallRigs option to switch the lens plate for a 17mm mount. There are 17mm to 37mm lens mount adapters available and then they would be compatible with the latest and greatest lens options. Very much a missed opportunity by LiteChaser. I purchased the system in your video and returned it for this very reason as I did not like the bayonet/moment to 17/35mm adapters. They need to expand their lens mount options. Moment is far from ubiquitous nowadays. FYI love your channel. I have learned a lot from you.
In my experience Moment is still the most common lens used. I do wish they’d do an update to their lenses, but they actually do work pretty well (not perfectly) on the main cameras of later iPhones, not the 3x Tele though. Beastgrip has done a good job updating recently, but they’re not as portable to use. But they’re my favorite. And 17mm is looking more and more viable as you say. ReeFlex also uses it. An interchangeable lens mount would be nice here. Thanks for watching!
I wouldn't say Sandmarc updates their lenses every year. Their tele claim 58mm but is wider than the 14 pro main 2x which is about 48mm.
Spot on. To only make an adapter for Moment of all companies, is totally lame.
I got this and return for Freewell Sherpa way happier freewell grip is amazing which I don’t need to change for each iPhone I will own unlike polarpro top that freewell magnetic filters.
Cool. Will have a video out about that in the coming weeks. Probably do a comparison too.
@@iphoneographers yes please compare sherpa system grip with side handle system, which one more convenience for video , thx
This is what I was interested in. I’ve been looking at the Freewell Sherpa kit too, but have been a little conflicted about the different grips. Which is most user friendly?
Would probably say the Sherpa is easier to work with and more user-friendly
I want this, but I refuse to keep buying exclusive cases and systems. Only universal gear from here
love the kit....Whem I saw the website I hadn't realizes what you just explaind.... that the were two kits.... and the cheaper is not a cage...... So that Polar Cage vs Samllrig it is much more expensive!!!.... but it seens taht for filters this polarPro goes better.... Do you agree??
Why is the link to the cage does not show the same cage as in this review?
Not sure which link you clicked, but the link provided goes directly to the Litechaser 14 and then you select which one you want - the case or cage - and 14 Pro or Pro Max. geni.us/ZJUKHiO
I’ll stick with my small rig gear. Thanks for the review. And as you know I can switch between my Sandmarc and moment mounts.😊
Yes, that is a nice feature to have interchangeable mounts!
Can you charge the phone with magsafe while using all accessories of this cage?
Thanks for the review brother, I went ahead and ordered their LiteChaser case & iPhone 14 Pro Max kit to try out. Figure this way I can still pop the phone in my pocket and on my vehicles RAM mount.
Question, I current run a DJI Osmo 6 Mobil gimbal, but I’m thinking this setup will be too heavy for it. Are there any similarly priced & feature rich gimbals that’ll work with the 14 Pro Max and this kit?
It might work on the OM 6, but it’ll be close. If not, the Smooth 5 is my favorite smartphone gimbal for heavier setups… ua-cam.com/video/vHsypfyr-jk/v-deo.html. Otherwise move up to the Crane M3 or similar… ua-cam.com/video/S304iLKg0kE/v-deo.html.
Hi! Do you still own this litechaser 14 metal cage, and if so, does it work with the new litechaser 15 case?
They sadly aren’t doing the metal cage version for the iPhone 15 lineup, so just wondering if the new case works on the old metal cage
I don’t have the 15 case yet, but hope to get one soon. I do still have the 14 cage.
Can you add a litechaser lens on top of a moondog lens or even a small rig one? Moment’s anamorphic has awful vignetting.
Nice product and review
I'm sort of confused why there is so much rigging to make a landscape film making kit these days. I thought the benefit of shooting natively on the phone was to keep it vertical.
For UA-cam Shorts or TikTok or IG Reels, but that’s really it. Otherwise you should always shoot landscape just like any other camera.
First, I really appreciate the great review. Right now, I have a 13 Pro and a screw on 52mm Moment mount. It works great with my VND. Of course, no cage, which I would like to have. So, I have questions about the Polar Pro and the Smallrig.
1. Is there a similar version for the 13 Pro from Polar Pro, or just last year's version?
2. Is the Smallrig cage for the 13 Pro compatible with Moment lenses or the Moondog Labs 52mm adapter?
There is no PolarPro cage for the 13. But the SmallRig cage for that is great. And yes, it has a Moment mount or a 17mm that you can optionally buy. So it works with all bayonet mount lenses and accessories… amzn.to/3jix0pQ. Thanks for watching!
Can we use the iphone 14 pro smallrig cage for these Polar Pro filters
No they’re proprietary
I'm late to the party but can you fit any other thin phone cases opposed to the flimsy included one???
I think you need the one they provide
@@iphoneographers could you maybe test it
With the case and a circular polarizer will an iPhone gimble like osmo 5 be able to support it ?
The smaller Pro version yes, the Pro Max probably. The filters are very light, which is nice for gimbals. So it should work ok.
@@iphoneographers amazing thx!
Can you not use this on a regular iPhone 14?
Check their website to confirm, but believe they’re for the pro or pro max only or at least they used to be.
How do you record your audio besides having a shotgun mic. Is there any professional wireless or Bluetooth audio that you would suggest? For mobile filmmaking
It really depends on what I’m doing. I like the Rode wireless Go mics quite a bit as they’re small and compact and pretty affordable. Or the DJI version. ua-cam.com/video/Ypo97D8KuFY/v-deo.html
@@iphoneographers thanks! I will check those out
Hi, I have a question. I shoot videos for my UA-cam channel and I want you to show me a way to mount my phone on a mirror. Because I shoot shaving videos. Thanx in advance
Smallrig or beastcage?
Personally like the Beast
Has anyone tried putting the 13 pro max in it? I know they’re pretty much the same body.
if you had to, can you use this an everday use case as well? I don't swapping my phone in and out of its case
Might be worth mentioning if the soft case is MagSafe charging compatible
This cage, no. But the case - maybe. I’ve carried it before and it’s ok, although the lens/filter mount is somewhat bulky for EDC. That’s with a Pro Max. If you have a Pro then you’re probably golden.
They’re all MagSafe compatible.
What’s the best cage for an iPhone 11
It depends on what kind of stuff you’re shooting. A nice universal is this one and it would carry across to newer phones later too… amzn.to/3kGHFLr
Congratulations I have 13 pro max 😊
I think you'll get tired arm syndrome with all that leverage and weight out there. Going to be very side heavy. So, gone is the real portability. So if you're going this route put another handle on the other side. So then the phone's morphology changes when the 15 goes out..or 16.. and you throw this away? Hmmmm.
Not side heavy at all. Works great. Not a fan of two handles. I always use one handle whether it’s a phone or a traditional camera. And yes, that’s the nature of cages, again whether you’re talking about smartphones or a Sony mirrorless camera. If you get a new one, you’ve got to get a new cage. But there are plenty of universal cage options out there too, like these… ua-cam.com/video/JpTsn2btypE/v-deo.html
