@@glenngouldschair390 His concert recordings have more pedal but during his middle period, when he was recording Beethoven and whatnot, his playing seems almost entirely without pedal. At the end when he’s recording some of the romantic repertoire, he seems to use it a bit more again. Like his recording of Strauss‘ Burlesque, etc..
@@pianosbloxworld4460 Beethoven needs pedal almost as much as Chopin but he often recorded it with none or far too little. Somehow I love most of these recordings anyway. He was unorthodox, as they say.
I'm surprised that Gould recorded Bizet's variations. In his early puritanical days he would have dismissed them as self-indulgent. An interesting performance, nonetheless.
Nice, hadn’t heard this recording til now. Seems Glenn used more pedal in his later years, at least when recording romantic repertoire.

@@johntravena119 now imagine playing chopin's sonata 3 without pedal. gould might've been eccentric but wasn't dumb enough to do that.
