That high gloss section on the centre console would look nicer in the same simulated wood finish that's on the doors.

A very comprehensive look at the new Sportage and I agree the indicators are better where they are now than lowdown on the bumper. I hope in the UK we get the all singing all dancing version you have there, but, I doubt it and thanks for sounding the horn as we used to have the gen 2 Sportage, great car but totally pathetic horn sound, would'nt scare a cat. Love the colour of that car.❤👍👍

I personally prefer the black to a whole lot of silver. It scratches easily and tarnishes over time. I love everything about this vehicle. My Kia Forte has been very reliable and almost 10 yrs old. My only concern is how is the cabin noise? Does it have a quiet cabin when driving? I was torn between the Mazda cx5 and the Sportage. Mazda brags about how quiet the cabin is when driving also why they redesigned the lower part of the doors. Great video Chsrlie

Hey Charlie, I'm still in shock about how slow it is 0 to 60!! The Kia forte with a naturally aspirated four cylinder does 0 to 60 in 8.1.. over 10 seconds is ridiculous.

Yes! It’s so much slower than the 240hp turbo from the last generation. KIA is going backwards and making poor decisions with engines and stripping away features on previous gens.

Just a few nit-picky things I don't love..
1. Push rod for the hood.. No hydraulic bonnet lifters?? Cheap!
2. Only a small, single reverse white back-up light on the bottom.and not in both taillights?? Not sure I like that!
3. Too much gloss black on the shifter consule.. Tough to keep clean and it will scratch...
4. Integrating the stereo and climate control into 1 unit with no real push buttons might not be the best idea.
I love the look so much but functionally.. I'm not sold yet. I'm also interested in only PHEV version of this or the Tuscon. Let's make the right choice together!! We have lots of time if you're also in Canada.. Let me know what you think of my minor issues.

Same story here...I bought my Sportage in 2018 and still enjoy it. I didn't buy the GT trim, mainly because of the piano black parts (shinny bits that are basically like a magnet for dirt and scratches). This new model sure looks like a possible replacement (either the hybrid or the PHEV for me). Those 2 displays are nice to look at...when not driving. I'll consider buying one when Kia decides to put a HUD (or maybe an AR HUD for the driver in me).

@@mecca2723 LED lamps create a blue light which is not natural when looking at yourself in the visor mirrors, especially when checking your appearance (make-up etc).

Actually using speed limit assist can be very tricky. For example on the highways exits you'll have 90 or 50 speed limit signs and the car will read them - so in this case the car will adjust the speed at those levels, even if you don't leave the highway. imagine at every highway exit the car braking to adjust the speed.
I'm confused why is everyone calling this a 2022? In the united states this is our 2023 model. I just got a 2023 kia sportage hybrid SX-Prestige. Our 2022 models don't look like this but my 2023 model is like this but i have hybrid.

I am From Pakistan. In Pakistan Kia ha launch Sportage previous generation in the end of 2019. In 2020 Kia Sportage was selling just like an hot cake. It's drive is very comfortable and very smooth. This car have also beaten the sale of Tuscon,MG HS and glory 580 pro. Bcz in Pakistan only kia sportage is readily available the other brands like Hyundai Tucson,MG HS which are not available in market. I also have Sportage previous generation. I am enjoying it man.

If you press and hold the media/climate button, you can set which one is preferred. It will always revert back to it.

Good reviews as always. Nice design for the radio/climate control but not a fan of fiddling between the two while driving. Kia should have incorporated an additional knob to control volume/mute. Personally, not a fan of DCT so whould pick 6 speed hybrid. Othet than that very good improvements akin to a conti vehicle.

About the comfort/media switch I agree with you. It’s a nuisance to press the switch to decide if you want control sound volume rather the temperature. It could have been easily solved replacing the switch with a rotary knob for adjusting the volume and keeping the current knobs permanently for temperature control

Hi Charlie, I saw my first EV6 yesterday, whilst it looks terrific inside and out, I was VERY disappointed with the dash trim materials, they are definitely not what I would expect from a ‘premium’ car. It all seems very plasticky. Is this what I should expect from a £50K+ car?

So I just put down a deposit on an SX Prestige - the only engine available at this time in the US is a 2.5L @ 187hp. Also the gear selector is the old style and not the wheel unfortunately. I really wanted the phev but I don't want to wait that long. I have to wait about a month for my car to come in.

I have a Sportage 2018 GTLine and I look forward to replace it in 1...2 years. New Sportage could be an option.
The materials seems to be the exactly like my Sportage in the same areas (hard touch + soft touch). With a minus for more piano black than mine (I expected less or not at all, wood imitation being quite ok why didn't they use it all around?). And more piano black on the exterior also. I don't like this (I think nobody likes this).
The trunk is exactly the same like mine, I expected an improvement here, also. I mean, the laterals covered in plastic (easy to scratch) and the back of the seats not quite well finished (they are wrinkled). I expected to fold them 40-20-40 like in new Tucson and, why not, to slide them few cm. So a little bit disappointed here.
Another issue could be rear vents with no control. If nobody on rear seats, you loose some heating/cooling there with no reason. On my car I can close the rear vents. And all electric cars have a button "driver only" to improve the economy and efficiency of HVAC when the driver is alone in the car.
I have the same engine on mine and it is credited with 9.1 sec 0...100. This version is LWB, so bigger and heavier, 10 sec 0...100 could be a real result and not a problem of this press car.
Finally, seems that if I will choose this new Sportage will be for PHEV technology and Mercedes-like screens, the rest is not a progress for me.

To be honest, I prefer this Sportage over the Tucson. Even though people find the front weird and ugly, to me it looks more cohesive and clean. The design of the Tucson is kinda a fail to me. The over-sharpened and geometric lines, the interior and the design overall attempt to look futuristic, but in my opinion it doesn't work and even make the car look cheaper in the lower trims.

I currently have a 2017 GT and will be trading to this new model but I do find the grill to mouthy. I intend to remove the KIA logo from the hood and replace it with a chrome custom emblem in the centre of the grill to break up and tone down that massive black front.
Great night time review. Hardly any car reviewer does this at night. Where are the reverse lights? On the bumper? Also, I don't like the "cockpit arrangement." I prefer a flat display that's easy for the passenger, i.e. wife, can adjust. The climate control center is too small! I would recommend that in the next Generation, KIA make those controls bigger and with buttons.

One thing caught my eye so correct me if I’m wrong. The gear change and parking seems kinda dangerous or not well thought through. So if I’m driving 120-130 km/h at a highway and some kid or me accidentally presses the P button, will it initiate the handbrakes? It’s very easy to press a button accidentally then pull a handbrake which is never going to happen. Kindly let me know your thoughts on this.
Hi Ali. I have tested that many times. Even if you press p or R accidently while driving, it will not go into b/c Kia Sportage knows what's going on.

This is the third video where he’s showed us what horn sounds like for this car alone. I don’t think it’s a deciding factor when car shopping. A lot of overlapping in these videos lately. Repeating the exact same things he said in the video a few days ago, but this time in the dark. Sort it out Charlie. The first 15mins of this video was already covered in the previous video, but during daylight hours. It’s unnecessary to go over them again at the different time of day.

I believe the table of the different English configuration @ 16:57 need revision. I believe it contains some incorrect figures specifically for the 1.6 Turbo HEV Kia. In USA there is only 2 motor choices either
2.4L 4-Cylinder Engine w/ 181 hp & 175 lb-ft of torque or 2.0L 4-Cylinder Turbocharged Engine w/ 240 hp & 260 lb-ft of torque. Kia offer just one transmission for all USA models which is 6 speed AT torque converter.
In Australia again it’s different as the turbo is 1.6 L like the one you mentioned with 180 hp and 195 lb. ft. So confusing what Kia offers in different markets. Kia Austrlaia said the diesel will be mated to 8 speed Torque converter AT and not 7 speed DCT.

The camera you rented is a mirrorless not a DSLR. DSLR cameras have a mirror inside of them but the one you rented didn't hence it's called a mirrorless.
