I agree with saw. I hated every thing about it. The vertical lift, the rattles and i also got soaking by some scenery. Loved Stealth and Swarm. The music in the queue to stealth was everything I was brought up with on my dads taste of music
I tend to agree with you on ghost train, but I can confirm it does move around. It’s got two parallel tracks, which the train moves down. What about the 4d Cinema? Personally I would put it in the take it or leave it category but would be better with more variety of films and chairs that worked properly 😂
Stealth is IMO the best ride in the uk. Enjoyed 15 minutes riding EVERY train that was dispatched (with 2 train ops). Nothing beats that for fun to queue ratio.
I'd love to see a dark ride at thorpe, their flat, water and coaster lineups could all be argued as the best in the country but their dark ride lineup is abismal
Yes! I love dark rides and would love to see 1 or 2 cool ones at Thorpe. Something at least near the level of TCAAM as I ride that several times every time I'm at Alton Towers
hi chris - slightly off topic but can you share details of where the 2 models on your shelf came from, the top one looks like cardboard or ply and the bottom one looks like lego?
So the wooden ones are from Blackpool: retail.blackpoolpleasurebeach.com/product/big-one-wooden-model/ The lego model is from Etsy, you buy the instructions then you have to order all the lego pieces yourself (they give you instructions): www.etsy.com/uk/listing/1701704188/hyperia-thorpe-park-only-instructions
Interesting you felt a rattle on inferno this year I’ve felt it’s been really really smooth, although I don’t really notice it on reborn either so maybe It’s me lol
First ever visit to Thorpe Park the other day. Fantastic. What a sight Hyperia is, majestic. Loved Swarm. Have to disagree about Saw; enjoyed it despite coming off with a headache. Agree about Ghost Train, though. Great concept but poorly executed. What is it with the train ‘guards’ who act all weird once the doors are closed on the carriage? Scripts need totally reworking.
I don't really do flat rides so no opinion on those but Saw definitely get rid, it is rough which is probably intentional with the trains being snappy carts. I would say bin Colossus unless they can change the trains for the same as what Sik has, if they can't could they rebuild it like Towers have done with Nemesis? it is a fan favourite but is very uncomfortable and rough.
I do agree with you with hyperia, i was a bit let down due to so much hype from the community (my own fault) but even then i didn't find it to have many extreme forces (apart from the drop in the back row, that is beyond incredible). I currently have 5 rides on it and at least 1 of those had a really bad rattle/shuffle, and i dont usually have problems with rattles.. (i adore Saw for example) hopefully they can sort that out as it only seemed to be a problem in the middle rows weirdly enough as the front and back cars were borderline glossy smooth 😅
I do want to get a few more rides in different rows. I did front row and cresting over that lift hill is awesome. I can only imagine the whip in the back!
I wasn’t too enamoured with Hyperia. I went about three weeks ago when it was on one train after the other one valleyed. I managed 4 go’s. The first drop was great, the bit after the first drop made me grey out 😊, the next airtime hill was great and then I wanted it to go on like that off into the sunset, but the outward bank thing felt like it interrupted the flow and was as annoying as being tipped sideways on your office chair when you’re trying to work. The upside down hangtime bit was good and then there was a good airtime bit, but then it just stopped. The whole thing feels disjointed and doesn’t get going for me. And the train rode like a pneumatic drill on wheels. I remember people on Twitter mocking BPB fans saying “there will be people who still think the Big One is better”, and although I don’t think it’s better, I do prefer it. That might change over time though. Some things grow on me over time, but I’m not feeling the amazement that most people had when they first rode it after my first few rides. Despite of that, I’m very pleased to see a big thrill ride like this here and hopefully we’ll get more of this scale going forward (hopefully longer).
I go to the funfair for flat rides. So i only go on roller coasters at thrope park. I enjoy Hyperia, Sawrm, walking dead ride, Nemesis inferno. Colossus is uncomfortable and rough so i would scrap Colossus. Saw is a good ride but the last inversion is too rough but i still enjoy the ride. Stealth is good but now thrope park has Hyperia. I don't go on Stealth. I think thrope park need another indoor roller coaster like walking dead but faster and has inversions. Water rides are ok not a fan. If it's a hot day. Then I'll go on storm surge and tidal wave.
Colossus is by far and away the most uncomfortable rollercoaster ive ever ridden. im quite tall but nothing ridiculous but the restraints were painful. Spent two days at Thorpe park last year and only went on it once, and I doubt I ever will ride it again.
You've put every ride in to the correct bucket, so your list matches my list. I always go by the rule of thumb, if the rides are uncomfortable bone rattlers or soak you through to the skin, scrap them and bin them. Water rides don't belong in the UK climate especially Valhalla at Blackpool.
A great video as always, I know I say it a lot but definitely my favourite channel 👍. I’ve got a couple of questions if that’s okay mate 😊😁. Towers or Thorpe ? And what’s your favourite ride at Thorpe excluding Hyperia cos I think that would be the obvious answer 😂🫣
Tough one. I do love both parks. For me Thorpe has better coasters and is a more compact site which means less walking. It also seems to have more reliable rides (towers struggles with that one). But Towers is easier for me to get to 🤔 As for top ride at Thorpe. Probably Swarm
@@coaster_dad It is tough ain’t it 😂🫣😊, I think Thorpe probably does have the better coasters but I love the theming of towers’ coasters and rides. My biggest worry with Thorpe is that all their major flat rides were put in in that 2000-2010 period, and will likely be coming to the end of their lifespans in the upcoming 5-10 years so I really hope they've already started looking at the replacements rather than going down the Alton route of just removing them. Sorry to be that guy but Nemesis was built in 1994 whereas Inferno opened on 5th April 2003 so Inferno whilst 21 years old is still quite a bit newer than Nemesis. In regards to why they used the Nemesis name its due to it being a B&M suspended, to get people to think it was a Nemesis 2.0 (ie as good as), and also because it uses the same track as Nemesis just reconfigured into a different order
