  • In this video I demonstrate how to install the backhoe attachment on the RK37 Tractor.
Like most tasks you do with a tractor, installing an attachment can be dangerous if a person isn't careful. So if you attempt to do this, please be careful! It'd be easier if you had a second person handy to help you check to see if things are lining up so you wouldn't have to get off the tractor as much.

Thanks for the tutorial. I don't know why the manufactures or dealers don't do these videos, but I appreciate you for filling the gap.

Awesome job, by far the best explained and clearest video on UA-cam. Thank you!😊

Great in depth video. I was considering adapting one of these units to another machine and the amount of detail was helpful.

To anyone; Question, and I hope it ain't a stupid one...Do you have to get additional rear service connectors for like say an articulating flail mower? I have 37 HC. Seems the two existing only supply hydraulic oil for other controls. By articulating I mean a ditch bank mower, up and down and sideways.

There’s only the two, but mine does have an auxiliary hydraulic option where you can add on, but you could check the RK site to be sure.

Nice Tractor Sir. Does this machine dig fast ,deep,&powerfully? This rig-a-ma-rool mounting system seems like a "ground dragging " apparatus. It was a many maneuvering procedures of sequences ,with all that blocking & so forth. The whole rig takes up a lot of space with that long attached undercarriage. My rig can be taken off in 25seconds & back on in 90 seconds along with only ONE back up maneuver. It is just two big pins & 2 hoses , and NO ground dragging-Long undercarriage. With out bragging it digs 9.2 feet deep (guess what type?). It has served me well for 5years and 850hrs, but sometimes TOO BIG. My next machine (a 7.5' TLB &35hp), Will not be this "sloppy system" ; 5 of the popular tractor brands use this VERY Similar mount&style; where as 4 other brands(more expensive) go at it with an entirely different,Easy, strong & Neat approach. I have watched countless "backhoe connection " vidios and appreciate the efforts, but l will pay 3000.oo$ for the "Better System".lnsedently there is NO Best Tractor (Compact) out there, so that is why l have 3 & looking for # 4 with another backhoe. THANKS for the great Video production and happy safe tractoring.

Thanks for watching and leaving some comments Donald! I've found this RK37 Tractor to dig fast, 7.5 ft deep and it is powerful. However, this tractor weighs in at 3000+ lb. so it probably isn't as powerful as bigger tractors that are heavier. I say that because in my limited backhoe operating experience, I've noticed that if you attempt to dislodge a very large tree stump root (e.g., 5+ inches in diameter), the backhoe will move (even with the stabilizer pads deployed) instead of the root giving way or coming loose. However, when I was younger I worked for a guy who did all kinds of backhoe work and he had a commercial grade larger John Deer backhoe. Even that JD backhoe would get moved around sometimes depending upon what he was trying to dig out. I agree with you about the under-frame mounting assembly. It does take up more floor space because that sticks out flat on the floor about another 6-8 ft. I guess it's one of those trade-offs as you mentioned of paying more to get a more compact designed mounting assembly. I've dug up stumps now on 6 large trees. The stump systems surprised me and were quite extensive with several significant tap roots running straight down underneath the bottom of the stump 4 to 5 ft. underground. On average, it took me about 6 hours to dig each one out, except the largest tree which I battled with for a few hours for parts of 3 days. The reason I put those support blocks under the backhoe is because the first time I removed it I didn't do that, gradually over a few weeks as the hydraulic pressure was released the backhoe slumped all the way to the floor and that sub-frame was sticking up in the air on an angle instead of laying flat on the floor. So I came up with the support blocks to avoid that happening again. Happy digging!

@@lessonslearnt5966 Hey Mark ,great explanation on your rig. I thought about this combo, the Rk 37 with the backhoe but opted for a Massey-Ferguson 1736 power-shuttle just with the loader--- a real deal 3 1/2 years ago @22,000$. The backhoe was to be a 7.5' unit but looked lost behind it ,a 8.5' unit was a better fit for that Tractor but wouldn't work. So with my previous tractor a 5year & 850hrs" kubogy " MX5200 shuttle shift Tractor-loader-backhoe is the only "digger" l have---works very good,ZERO problems, but sometimes TOO BIG. Another TLB is on the horizon, a Massey-Ferguson 1835E shuttle-shift price is 31,500$ now a days. A very comparable rig to yours but more money--- but the mount up IS FABULOUS &STRONG. My 1988 Massey-Ferguson 1020 21 hp hydrostatic (3range) 2wd does all my "light" work but getting tired. As for digging with a backhoe, the "secret " to stabilize & to keep it " planted" from dragging, is to curl the loader bucket max foward- knives the bucket in ( backwards pointing) then lower the stands. The Tractor WILL NOT MOVE! This procedure may BREAK your rear mount off because the front mount is just a "floater". I have 3 "quick connect " buckets a 12",18"&24". All WAYS dig stump with the smallest bucket possible. With 50 plus "victims " averaging 24 inch trees in my repertoire, plus no machinery breakage. It just takes a lot of "nibbling" & repositioning ,& time like you say. Happy safe, easy does it digging Sir. I got "edited out" on some very good particulars.

Thanks for the technique tips on digging! It’s always good to learn from the experience of others. That being edited is frustrating, I guess they have some reasoning behind it though.
