I love your hair! I also would like to know how you tie your hair up at night! I have the same haircut but I realized if I pineapple my bangs stick straight out in the morning… and if I sleep with all of my hair to the back my bangs will be flat and lifeless no matter how much I fluff them in the morning.
Are you gathering all the hair up in a loose pineapple? Make sure the pineapple isn't too tight so it won't alter the shape or stretch the curls. Sometimes fluffing and adding a light oil can help the shape out. I'll share a video soon with 3-5 different ways to preserve the curls 💗

Maybe not enough product on the roots, or your roots just like to to be puffy. For me when that happens I’ll use a crocodile clip in the roots so that it lays flat. Being careful when the hair dries when taking them out so as to not create more frizz
I agree with maybe not enough product at the roots, but also are you shingling from the roots or from the middle of the hair shaft?? You could also try a light gel at the roots before or after applying the mousse to each section..
I used to have a problem with extra frizzy roots then I started putting some baking soda in my deep conditioner once or twice a month. I haven’t had that problem since. It’s been about 2 years.

I live through all the girls who can do a wash and go because I refuse to do it because of the shrinkage
You can always add hair weights, or have claps pin the curls down as you dry them for elongation. 💗
You can also try banding your wash and go every night before you sleep
