Thanks everyone for watching. It was a different type of video for us to make. Extremely interesting place despite the horrific history attached to it. We also meant no offence to anyone by the words used in the title. Our main objective in making this video was to be sensitive to everyone involved, so please understand anyone offended by anything related to this video was definitely not intended. Thanks again for watching, Caolan & Samantha ✌️

With all due respect, you should change the title, read the comments, Poles are mad when camp is called Nazi because its German and its supposed to be named as German Nazi Camp in Occupied Poland, otherwise its making Poles responsible for it and as Poles we feel that history is not being respected. You seem like honest people and i belive that you have good intentions but as they say `the road to hell is paved with good intentions`. Auschwitz was hell on earth made by austrian Hitler rulling the Nazi Germany and the truth should be pointed out not hidden by quazi names like Nazi. Are you brave enough to change the title or not Ireland ? Peace

Thanks for making this video. It was actually very good. I could never go there myself, because it would be too emotional to see all this horror with my own eyes. Watching you going there and describing it was somehow more bearable. Germans caused so much suffering and did so many evil things in Poland, that we don't really like it when somone uses the term Nazis. For many people it feels as if the responsibility is being redirected from the state who organised those atrocities in to somewhat abstract ideological concept. A blury group of people. As foreigners you couldn't have known this, so don't worry too much about it. I think you did a great job! That was a really powerful episode. I'm looking forward to Zakopane.

30 mins of video about Auschwitz and just two references to Germans, the latter followed up with a word “Nazis”, as if the original reference to “Germans” was incorrect.
You have been kindly asked the change the title of this video and include the full name of the camp, but you have ignored it.
As some said, this is very sensitive topic here in Poland. Your title reads “Inside Auschwitz Concentration Camp | Walk Through Nazi Death Camp (Oświęcim, POLAND)”, by including a geographical reference to Poland and not mentioning that it was a German camp, one may get an impression that Auschwitz was established and run by Poles, which is factually incorrect.
This is extremely offensive here in Poland. It is like calling a back guy the n-word in face but 1000 times more. Because of your unwillingness to change the title, I am unsubscribing your channel.

I need to clarify something as many people around the world still have the wrong idea about this place. First of all, these camps are not Nazi but German Nazi camps in occupied Poland, because they were created by the Germans. Secondly, they are now in Poland, because Poland was occupied by Germany during the Second World War and that is why the Germans created them here. Thirdly, the first prisoners were Poles and Polish citizens of various nationalities and religions, Poland before the war was a multi-ethnic and multi-religious country (this is also partly the case today). Such a picture of this place and the history of Poland during the Second World War should be presented. Besides, your series from Poland is great.

Now imagine tens of thousands places like this all over Poland, camps, prisons, gettos and just regular streets. This is why we get furious when we hear "Polish death camps", and we are still not so prone towards Germans. Every Pole has a family story from that time, that makes us upset. For example, my grandfather as a boy was hidden in a wardrobe while his sister and mother were being "used" in their own home. At the beggining of the war, Polish forces were supose to be fully in use for the Treaty of Versailles to work, so Poles gave up their strategic spots for that reason, but Brits and others decided not to fulfill the treaty giving us up. Then after the war soviets came and basically took our country for themselves. Sorry for spamming but it gets to me that literally every non-polish person is not aware of such things, that we were left alone.

On this "occasion" it is very very important to mention, or even underline, because a lot of people got or may got it wrong, as many media call these places "polish death camps", the fact that these camps were located in Poland is the only "polish thing" there was. Poland was invaded and occupied for the whole WWII by Nazi Germany. Those camps were built and maintained by Germans. Many Poles were held and died there as well. Actually Poles and other slavic nations were ment by Germans to be slain, after Jews. Poland, as a state, in fact, didn't exist at that time. But even then, every known collaboration of Poles with Germans was punished by death by polish underground state. And Germans also punished by death any attempts of Poles helping and rescuing Jews, who were also, very often, polish citizens.
Good videos to watch on youtube are The Unconquered, Bloody Foreigners, or documents about Witold Pilecki.
So it is very important to remember, and to constantly remind, how the history looks like.
Keep up creating your great channel.

@@jmatt56 Hi, It doesn't insult me (or maybe in some way as I am Polish and my relatives were suffering of the occupation. One of my grandfathers was a prisoner and a survivor of Gross-Rosen Camp, Rogoznica, and my grandmother was in Warsaw during Warsaw Uprising), but the memory of people you unfairly inpute things they didn't do. I don't know what was your intensions if you wrote that half of jewish victims were killed by Poles. I hope it was due to lack of knowledge of what was happening at that time, rather than being malignant. It's like you would write that, because of some Jews were collaborating with Germans, Jews are also responsible for Holocaust, which is absurd.
As I wrote, and you can do your own research about it, Poland was completely overtaken by Nazi Germany in 1939. (Actually it was divided by Nazi Germany and Soviet Russia, but that's another story). Germans established their authorities and their laws. From the beginning they also started a process called Germanisation. Polish language became forbidden in schools, generaly Poles could not attend to any other than primary schools, teaching history was forbidden, and there were also other restrictions. Polish inteligentsia was beeing exterminated, as well as a lot of other polish citizens, there were executions on the streets. Many children were taken away from their parents (about 150k from 250k of all German occupied countries), moved to Germany to merge them into German society and cut any of their polish roots, or as slave labourers (Heuaktion). For all of this Poles hated Germany, and the last thing we wanted was going on any collaboration with them. There were some cases but, if caught, it was punished by death by polish underground state, like I mentioned.
It's really tragic, if they don't teach this in schools nowadays.
About Confederate Battle Flag. Yes, that what it was, a battle flag, later it was also a part of Confederate States flag. But analogy with Nazi Germany flag or for example USSR flag is completely wrong. Those where authoritarian regimes that killed millions of people, their symbols are connected to the idealogy, nazizm or communist. Nothing of this was part of Confederate States. I know that later it was used by some people in their racist activities, but it is not what this flag was designed for (if you know what gen. Robert E. Lee thought about racism and slavery). It is like when there in XI-XIII century christian crusades took place, that caused many deaths and the crusaders were using christian cross as their symbol. Does it mean we should stop using it? It is nonsense, as we know the christian religion is not about that.
As you may know, the Civil War started because the southern States was against political and economical domination of the northern States. The main reason was the South was earning a lot on cotton production, and the North wanted to take a part of that (drasticaly raising custom tariffs for example). The production was heavily connected to slavery, but slavery was used widely in many States (also northern) and other countries, that was unfortunately normal at that time (I will not elaborate on this topic here).
Anyway the Confederate Battle Flag may be a symbol of a rebellion against political domination or against political correctness, as I use it.
And it is still a part of Mississippi flag for example.

@@NeoBTK I don't believe I was stating that Poles killed Jews. I was trying to say that about 6 million died at the hands of the Nazi's. About 4 million were Jewish, about 3 million were Polish. As I understand the Nazi policy, rid Europe of the Jewish population then go after the non-Germanic peoples.
The Confederate battle flag doesn't really offend me, but it does offend my wife (she is black).
BTW. My knowledge of central European history is decent, seeing that I grew up there and went to university there.
I'll re-read your posts. Hopefully, we're able to part on friendly footing.

The thing that is always the most devastating is when you think thant the people who first got on the trains never new what they are getting them selves into , they packed jewelry, gold etc and then we're striped down of it , pushed into cattle carts and then told they need to work to survive but most of them never did and all they had was taken, stolen, family never seen again.
The second things is eerie....the land around the camps is good for crops....because all the cole particles that got into the soil....that once wad human beings ....
If you ever will have the chance you need to familiar yourself with the story of Witold Pilecki. He voluntarily got into the camps to spread the word to the outside world about what is going on in there.
There are also stories of woman (also imprisoned) who delivered babies and smuggled them out instead of killing right after birth like she was told to.
And personally I think that Sophie's choice shows even more about the camps then Schindler's list.
Thank you for visiting this place and talking about it.

Families were separated to not see each other again, mothers and fathers from their kids, wifes from husbands. Some, weak ones went straight to gas chambers called by germans showers. After killing bodies were checked for gold teeth. If found gold was pulled out and sent to reichs coffers. Later it went to Swiss banks. That gold was used to rebuilt postwar german economy. Today germans have nerve to lecture Poland about democracy, what a laugh of the history.
