Hey TJ! It was awesome getting to meet you & film with you, glad you enjoyed the car. If anyone has more questions about the build feel free to reply to this comment, I’ll do my best to answer any unanswered questions!
No questions from me, just thank you for building this absolute work of art and showing the internet. I hope you enjoy every minute you get to spend driving your dream
@@ricepony33 That may be so, but you have to appreciate this guy's dedication to the system. CANbus can be a pain to work with if the loads and connections are not exactly the way the OEM harness is. Even wire impedance can be a factor. If he's not throwing any codes, I'd say this is a big W for him.
Because displacement doesn't really tell you how physically big an engine is. Yes it is of course a factor, but they are other factors too like engine design. Viper engine is a pushrod engine so its no where near as wide as it would be if it was DOHC. There are 7 liter Chevrolet pushrod V8s out there that are the same weight and same physical size an a 4 liter DOHC BMW S65 V8. Thats how much difference engine design makes to size.
16:50 this build has to be shown everywhere its incredible that such a young men created this by himself the build is so nice, it naturally attracted the haters in the comments. Its so clean that some people cant take it haha.
A little unknown fact while we're talking about Viper V10 powered FD's. A Japanese company named "Top Fuel" made some Dodge Viper conversion bodykits for the FD3S RX7 in the 90's. Pictures and videos are hard to find, but it's real.
Just wow, i remember when he started building this. And i like the finished product. I also own a FD RX7, but I went the 20b route. I've had it since 2006 and went 3 rotor in 2008. The hood on this car takes some getting use to but growing on me. I'm a fan, great job and I appreciate all the work he put in. Nice work, really cool.
Its all the little bits, having to redo all the heater ducts, and plumb in the servos etc, you dont normally hear about 👌 Clever guy, who can drive too! Nice build, hat goes off to you pal 🫡
All the purest complaining seem to be forgetting it's not their car, and this was his vision. I absolutely love it, people ragging itc couldn't build a popsicle stick doghouse 😂
As if a Viper wasn't bonkers enough... This needs to be on Autotopia LA. I am a controls engineer with 25 years in, and I have to comment how tidy the wiring is. Very good attention to detail and the wire gromming was excellent. You could pick a single wire and follow it all the way to every termination, almost without busting the loom. Well done sir.
Ok I have seen a lot of cool builds on the internet just like the rest of you. But WOW! That is amazing I bet that thing is a handful to drive. Amazing build Clayton and the look of it is amazing. You should take that to SEMA. People need to see that car! I am a 80's kid the RX-7 was such a cool car. The look of it is PERFECT!
I like this build i do like all rotory motors but when you snap a FD, V8+ swaps are a must! reliable and fast. AWD option is also usually pair with these upgrade.
Love the whole story behind the build. You talking about how you actually Build it up for 5 years from a shell 🐚 only.... Clayton I was watching your UA-cam channel back in the day. I always wondered what happened to this build. Glad to see it on the road! Looks awesome! Did you continue with the UA-cam channel? I looked back a few times and commented asking if it was continuing. I can’t remember the name of your channel now.
Hey Adrian! We mostly stopped making videos, just a big change in life direction. We have another video going up on the channel soon (@slighlymad) but we won’t be doing that much more going forward. Glad this came up in your feed for you to see it all finished!
@@slightlyMADcustoms yeah me too! It has crossed my mind quite a few times so was happy to exit pop up. Was just an algorithm thing. Hadn’t seen this channel before. I’ll look out for your vid
There's 400lbs difference just in the engines, plus another 100lbs in the transmission. There must be a lot of bracing in the back to make 1-3% weight shift
wow. I love these custom builds. I wish I had the time/money at different points in my life to do this..now i make good money but have a mortgage, kids, responsibilities, etc... and it would take a lot of saving/big loans to put that much cash into a build like that, when family comes first..not likely to happen. Awesome build, thanks for sharing!
Wow. My favorite American car and favorite jdm in the most perfect beautifully built combo. I'd rather have this over a Lambo or Ferrari. Amazing work young man! 🏁😎👍
I love the car. I love the time and effort he has put into it. I don't love that a company charged him $5k for pieces of fiberglass that just screw to the side of the car with exposed screwheads. that company should be ashamed.
Gen 1 viper ran 12.6 @113mph... Wild to think i built an 03 c class thats faster for only 10-11.5k including 4.5k car cost but I'd still choose yours 🤤
One of the most overlooked things about all generations of rx7 from the first to the third is the engine compartment, for being one of the smallest displacement engines they have massive engine bays that can fit some of the largest motors pretty easily.
Woah.. this is a pretty intense and complicated swap. Perhaps I'm being silly - surely a Motec ECU complete with the digital dash and a simple custom harness would've caused less headaches?
🎉😂 one of my friends here in texas has vipers, and also 6 ALT chassis v10 swapped cars,as well. And he had a v10 swapped fd. One that he did years ago.👍🏼👍🏼🤘🏼
oh fck i never expect that VIPER engine would fit on FD engine bay like that, i mean it still have a room for another thing after you slam that V10 on it.. and yeah gonna love that V10 scream

No questions, just wanted to say this is an impressive build!
Ty for sharing this wonderful machine with us. Very impressed bro.
Very humble guy. He acts like this is so easy. 99% of us couldn’t replicate what he has done here. He’s very smart you can tell. Polite too.
I can’t imagine creating that electric system. It is a nightmare. But the car is pure perfection. Congrats.
It would have been easier to go motec or haltec.

The fact that it fits in there though 😮😮😮
Yeah 😮 big engine
I am using a Mercedes M120 V12 for my project 😎
Right, the engine bay doesnt look stressed for space.

Rx-7 with Viper motor interesting!👌
It’s the craziest build I’ve ever filmed in Canada
@@magnacars Just when I thought the Honda Civic with Corvette motor was insane.
The viper is light already it just with small diet lol I swear
What about the Honda accord with the hell cat motor in it? Crazy crazy builds out here man. Love it!!
I think that Jay Leno would be interested in this!
I think so too! Thank you for taking the time out of your day to watch my interview. I really appreciate you.
You get all my thumps and toes up.. I’ve seen a 20b turbo,a 4 rotor and LS swap rx7 but a viper motor swap is the shit. You have my full props bro.
Crazy at a young age he had this much dedication to build that car and went for it take notes young ones this guy will be successful.
That things sic for being built by such a young man, I'm hella impressed the amount of detail. And the fact it even runs and runs good.. hell ya bro

Seen this viper on a short has to find it to hear it turn on thanks for the video
I got to see this car in person at a car show! It’s absolutely stunning car 🔥
just watched scraplifes videos on their viper swapped 240sx its amazing what that engine can fit in

Scraplife got some sweet builds. The hellcat swapped Z is gnarly too
Awesome, totally awesome. Totally respect that 'some team could build it faster but I made this by myself' attitude. Swimming in that same swamp 😁
This blew my mind, I don't always like weird swaps but this combination is actually very nice!

I had to Fast Forward to a shot under the hood, before I started watching… just to see if they were serious. Beautiful Job
Wow amazing craftmanship! Well done. Amazing car.
What a car! Love the sound. The meticulous nature of this lad is admirable. Girlfriend must be a saint.
Good job. I have no love for or attachment to rotaries, so this is an upgrade in every way.

Sweet ride, but weird how the V10 doesn’t sound nearly as good as say an LS swap
Beautiful build
It really is!
Take that rx7 to Calvo Motorsports. Puts some twins on it and make crazy power 👌🔥
Power doesn't mean everything bruh
calvo kits are like 100k bro, log off youtube once in a while
Turbo power would make this car suck as a road car. It would be better off with an N/A modded setup and a sequential.
Nothing tells us: “Because I can” better than this video 😮
sick video, warp stabilizer isnt always needed :)
Thanks for the tip!
Respect for that build

just to correct your language, the width of the car is actually defined as" wheel tread" wheel base is axle to axle
