Can you feel the sub diving when you are in
When you start to dive for the first 20 feet you notice you don't feel the action of the waves and the ocean feels very calm. We could not feel any pressure change in the submarine since we were only diving just about 150 feet. When the submarine goes back up the surface you can really feel the motion during the last 20 feet.
Why won’t there be an Atlantis submarine in California and San Diego as well as Santa Cruz
Good question. Atlantis submarines tend to be located in more tropical regions.
Why do you have to take a boat to get to the submarine
The Atlantis submarine is very slow traveling at 2.5 knots (4.63 km/h or 2.87 mph). It is too far out to transport guests back and forth to the marina so they use a faster boat to bring people to the submarine. The boat ride is also very enjoyable.
Is the submarine cute
The submarine is cute for sure. There is plenty of fresh oxygen inside. The ride is really smooth and very enjoyable.
How many minutes did you dive in the sub before you came to the top of the reef
The submarine ride is 40 to 45 minutes long. Including the boat ride to the submarine, the submarine ride and return to land, the total tour is one hour and 45 minutes.
What was the yellow submarine in the harbor for
We went on the yellow submarines tour before. They have smaller windows and are less expensive than the Atlantis submarines. We highly recommend the Atlantis submarine tour.
So wouid you recommend this as as a must do or is it more of a "cool but there are better options"?
We have been on many submarines over the years and this is definitely a must do activity. Atlantis is in our opinion the best commercially operated submarine tour in the Hawaiian Islands.
How did the sub surface and how did they call it
The submarine has vents in the tops of the ballast tanks that are closed. Then compressed air is forced in the ballast tanks. This pushes or forces the water out of the ballast tanks. Since air is lighter than water, the air reduces the submarine's total mass causing it to surface.
How long is the boat ride to the submarine
It is approximately a 15-20 minute boat ride to the submarine.
If you are scuba diving do you see the sub
There is a sunken ship in the area where the submarine passes by. There are sometimes deep sea divers exploring the sunken ship. We did not see any scuba divers there.
Why can’t the sub park at the harbor
The submarine does park in the harbor each night to top up the batteries. The Atlantis submarine is electric powered. The submarine does not move fast so they keep it out in the deeper ocean and use a faster boat to get passengers out to the submarine.
I have a question how far does the sub dive and why was the mission impossible theme being played when it divided
The sub dives to approximately 150 feet (46m). The video was filmed in Maui 2010 on our honeymoon. I believe the song was used by the submarine company to create a more dramatic experience. The diving sound effect also made the experience more memorable.
If you were scuba diving would you see the sub underwater
Yes there is a sunken ship where you can dive that is located where the submarine passes. I am not sure who to contact for diving tours. We have seen divers when on the submarine.
When the submarine dives why does it shoot water from the top first
When a submarine dives the vents on top of the ballast tanks are opened. Seawater coming in through the flood ports forces air out of the vents on the top of the submarine. When the submarine wants to resurface it fills the ballast tanks with air.
How did they know the sub was surfacing
The Roxie coordinates the surfacing of the submarine to make sure it does not hit any other boats. They use radios to talk balk and forth to each other as well as other electronic equipment.
You just saw a manta ray do they go to the top of the ocean
Yes the manta will often swim near the surface of the water especially at night when it is most active. The manta ray diet consists of plankton which is found near the surface of the water.
Wow the sub goes down to the bottom of the ocean how
When the vents on the ballast tanks are filled with seawater, it causes the submarine to be heavier than the seawater and it slowly goes down to the bottom. They control how fast it goes up and down by either adding or removing air from the ballast tanks. They usually park the submarine on the bottom of the sea floor once during the submarine tour for a few minutes so the guests can experience being parked on the ocean floor.
What does the Roxie do for the sub
The Roxie is the ship the makes sure the submarine does not collide with other boats when it is going to the surface.
