Hi Dave. How’s the brightness? I was wondering as I read that the nits were 250? I’m also planning to use the monitor for work so wanted to check. The HP is 400 nits for example. Thanks
I've tried this in various settings including well-illuminated tables adjacent to big windows and never had an issue with brightness. See if you can check out a 250nit screen at your local Best Buy or similar to gauge for yourself?
I had no trouble sandwiching my 27" monitor between the clothing in my suitcase for the past 5 years until whoever searched my luggage last week moved the protective layer of clothing and my screen arrived cracked, I guess I was lucky for 5 years. I wish there was a screen cover/protector for a 27" monitor because the back is already protected and then I could travel with a nice sized screen again. I am in my 50's and I need a bigger screen. VR headsets I do not think are ready for this.
Great video .. that charging brick .. im not worried.. how products u buy today dont come with them at all .. great things that comes wirh it .. I love it .. and the price.. thanks
Hey Dave, great video. FYI in the large power adapter it's 60watts so you could use that to charge laptop and power screen over USBC on laptop so that is why it's so large, little power delivery action.
Yes, but I found it a bit precarious. If you're on a solid surface I think you can get away with it, but I wouldn't do that on a bumpy train ride, whereas the landscape mode stand setup is solid.
Definitely possible to use it vertically, though it won't stand up so you'd be tilting it against something. In terms of games, this style of portable monitor is slower on refresh than a gaming monitor, so it would work, but wouldn't be comparable to a big 4K display that's plugged into the wall.
While it's called a gaming monitor, it's really just an external monitor with a fast refresh, so it's going to be suitable for any use. Since I am not a gamer, I tested it in other ways that also required a fast refresh and bright color reproduction 🙂
@@AskDaveTaylor For example, I am ready to pay $ 300-350 for this monitor, but if there was a similar 4-k monitor, then I think that the price in the region of $ 500 is quite justified.
@@AskDaveTaylor If you mean that appeared on Amazon portable 17.3 4-k monitors of well-known reputable manufacturers, including ViewSonic, then it will certainly be very interesting to see them in the review. Frankly speaking 17.3 4-k AUO matrix with excellent quality and color gamut Adobe RGB has long been put in premium segment laptops and in general on the marketplaces there are portable 17.3 4-k monitors, BUT I do not know anything about these manufacturers, so I do not consider them for purchase
Explanation of the cables provided and what allowed what helped a lot! I recently purchased one and I'm liking it so far.
Thank very much. Will be using with my IPad Pro.
getting it VERY soon... currently is running 299.99... GREAT work sir!

If the monitor is plugged in with the power block, does it turn on automatically when the video signal come on?
Thanks for a great video. How is the text quality when you type into it?
That's a function of your resolution and OS but with my Mac it was crystal clear!

We can use with iPhone ?
Not sure about that, I'd check with ViewSonic directly.
do you know if it can stand in portrait mode?
Yes, but I found it a bit precarious. If you're on a solid surface I think you can get away with it, but I wouldn't do that on a bumpy train ride, whereas the landscape mode stand setup is solid.

So helpful!
Great review. I'd have liked to see if it's possible to use it vertically and how it performs when playing a game on it. Other than that, great video!

@@AskDaveTaylorwhat do you mean its slower in refresh ? 144hz is Not Slow, Not Even in 2024 😅
@@fourtyfour3642 Yeah true, the most demanding vertical-oriented game i know runs at 120hz in arcades so that still works.
Awesome review 👏 I just bought this looks perfect for me
Hi does it easily fit in regular laptop bags?
Any news when it will be sale in Europe?
I definitely don't have access to that info. Check with ViewSonic!
Awesome video and review!
Thanks!
We are reviewing a gaming monitor. Can we review it by playing some games please? TIA

No touch screen?
Not this model, no.
Is it Bluetooth
No. I don't think Bluetooth has sufficient bandwidth for an HD monitor's signal.
Nice device, I liked this monitor! I wonder when such portable 4k monitors will appear?
Haven't heard about them as of yet, but it's a logical brand extension. I wonder if there are power or price constraints?

Did some more research and there are 4K portable monitors just starting to show up on Amazon. I'm trying to get one to review...
