Interesting how in the 1950's they seemed to have an understanding of childhood trauma and it's affects with behavior and development, but most people didn't want to study serial killers until the 1970's.

Sigmund Freud discovered that traumatic experiences in childhood could adversely affect later development all the way back in the 1910s. It's been well known for a quite a while, getting people to acknowledge this was a different story.

It has a lot to do with not speaking about the obvious, and having access and interest in being an intelligent parents.
There was an annoying chapter in a contemporary historical book on ancient Rome, written by a roman. In one chapter he says, "Here is the roman crossbow. Since it is such common knowledge how it operates, I will not bore you with the details."
We still to my knowledge have no precise knowledge of how an ancient roman handheld crossbow looked or functioned.
My best friend I met in first grade had very calm and awesome parents. I would spend a lot of time with them. They were intelligent, guiding, stern, loving, commanding, and understanding. I came from a hollow home with none of these things. If I had the choice I would have spent all my time there, and my parents seemed happy that I tried. No amount of videos or guides would ever have changed my parents. They weren't interested. On the opposite side, my friend's parents did not seem to need these videos, because they knew what they were doing and had already been taught these things by their parents and friends.
At some point, many chains of knowledge are broken, because things become so obvious that someone get's too busy or lazy. Information disappears constantly. Information must be upkept and treasured, especially when it comes to the very important but very obvious. I feel like at some point explaining why was lost, and then thec explanations were lost.
I always made sure to explain everything to my child, and he would always listen. Children to my understanding are very interested in how things work, and only rarely you have to force a lesson. Even then, one should not only explain why, but with a guiding attitude also show the beneficial results of lessons learned.
Having a single good family in a society can do immense good, because when children visit them, they will always remember the good things taught to them. Be that kind of a person and family, if at all possible.

I get so tired of people commenting on the smoking when what they just viewed is so dated...When I was growing up our doctors smoked while treating us. Hell, they even had doctors in commercials promoting cigarettes. My parents smoked when I was young. It did not make them bad people. "When you know better you do better." Can you observe the time frame and deduct from that and leave out your stupidity when forming your opinion?

NOT ALWAYS TRUE! MANY are STILL smoking probably right under a sign reporting that cigarette smoking causes cancer. It's on the packs. The spirit of nicotine grabbed me for years! I chain smoked. Thank GOD the LORD let me get a pain in my chest when my lungs were TOTALLY full of smoke one day. Me and a friend had smoked a whole carton in 3 days. I went out side to get a breath because I COULDN'T breathe! I snatched air into my lungs and it felt like a sharp butcher knife stabbing me in and out! But when I got air, I went right to the cigarette pack. I took one out...but THEN I took a breath. I was like Pavlov's dog after that. Every time I wanted to smoke I'd take a breath and remember the pain. That's how I went cold turkey BEFORE JESUS saved me a YEAR later! HALLELUJAH! 🙏🙌

My Dad smoked pall mall cigarettes which were the FIRST cigarettes I tried. MOST of us smoked after a while because the spirit of nicotine was in the home. Alcohol TOO! But GOD is a MIGHTY DELIVERER! 🙏

This would have been really good, if we could do a little thing called self-proofreading. What do we think?

lack of knowledge an understanding to answer your question! Go read a book on how the mind works and then go read a book about the 50"s. maybe then your opinion wont be "its stupid film. Jim's has inconsistent behavior.. So". this might sound condensing but based off what you typed your English isnt your strong suit. so maybe understand the language before typing about a serious topic like mental illness. Plain and simple.
