When he said that he's just going to be a dishwasher for the rest of his life, he should have simply just fired him.
Actually I think it was best the way that they handled it, i.e. demoting the racist chef to dishwasher, but keeping him employed there permanently. As they say, "keep your friends close, and your enemies closer."

It's managements responsibility for the behaviour of their staff, you nip people like that in the bud before it becomes workplace culture.

The last I heard is that women are the best cooks. I was on a bench cooking with my Mother when I was still a toddler. When I was younger, I moved out to New Mexico & there were Scientists, Professors & their wives always coming over for dinner to eat what they kept calling, “soul food”! They loved my cooking. Men!!🤦♀️ She flat proved him wrong & he ended up with egg on his face, as they used to say. He definitely earned his new job as a dishwasher! You can’t do wrong & get by. This story kind of rings true what happened to me a number of years ago.
Although, in my case, it wasn't cooking - it was artwork.
I am a self taught artist and in my early years, it was quite a struggle to get recognition.
During that time, I encountered another artist, who took great pleasure in constantly criticizing my art efforts. His nasty demeanor went close to making me want to terminate creating my art. However, I persisted.
Eventually, an art gallery offered to display and sell my artwork.
A few weeks later, they rang me to tell me that two of my paintings had sold. I was very pleased to hear it, but I was never told who the buyer was.
Two months went by and, one day, an artist friend of mine gave me a call.
She named a particular art competition that was recently on and asked if I had entered anything.
I said "No". "That's strange", she said, "I could have sworn that there was one of your paintings there."
To cut a long story short....
The painting she saw there, was indeed one of mine. It was one of the two that were sold at the gallery.
It took a bit of detective work on my behalf, but I finally found out that the artist who entered my piece in the competition, was my protagonist/critical artist "friend". He bought my paintings from the gallery and changed my signature on them to his.
Unfortunately, the police were not interested in pursuing him. They stated that, as he had legally purchased them, they were now his property and he was at liberty to do whatever he like with them.... basically, he got away with it. 😟

Well he probably got away with it that time but one day something will bite him in the butt hard.

I was a kitchenhand in my teens and got offered a job/career as a chef. I said no, though I did help the chefs in the kitchen when they needed. I learnt a lot (I worked in a few different restaurants actually). And I definitely wasn't the only female!
