My first exposure to the music of Africa was the wonderful Miriam Makeba (I hope I spelled that right) who recorded an album in the US with Harry Belafonte. I have loved it ever since. Honestly, as a little white girl in the 1960s this courageous woman was instrumental in shaping my views on race.
As another little white girl in the 60's... watching Miriam on the Ed Sullivan show singing "Pata Pata" is/was/& always will be food for the soul...
