I love both games but my main problem with blade and sorcery is how pathetic the enemies are. Combat in blade and sorcery feels like im slaughtering untrained villagers. Meanwhile enemies in battle talent will dodge, strike at my feet, charge at me, re animate, and do crazy spin moves. It feels like a proper dance that requires reaction and response.
I think you went into the game with the wrong expectations to be honest. This assumption that battle talent is trying to be like blade and sorcery is pretty off, yeah they are both physics based sword fighting games, but the intent is very different. Battle talent isn’t supposed to be played like a mod reliant sandbox with very heavy emphasis on realism like blade and sorcery. The reason BT doesn’t have nearly as high quality physics is because they sacrifice some of that realism to have a more fantasy like and fast paced combat system. You can dash, combo enemies in the air, use charged up swings, etc which would not be possible if it was as focused on realism. So the combat in BT isn’t going to slap if you’re trying to play the combat like Blade and Sorcery’s, kind of like how people often only get into Sekiro their second play through because they try to play it like the other souls games, so they don’t enjoy it, but once they try to play the combat how it was designed, it’s finally fun for them. Edit: and when you show footage of the gameplay, that’s only the very first level meant to get teach you the bare basics of the combat, it doesn’t feel fair to use that as an example
I respect that. You’ve raised some good points, and I did say in the video that it’s possible that I had unrealistic expectations. My only gripe is that for me the foundation of the gameplay which all that other stuff is built off is not satisfying at all. I get that it’s more fantasy based and over the top action, which sounds awesome, but if I have to drag myself through a couple hours at least of imo bad gameplay just to start getting to the good stuff, to me that seems like bad design. I’ll have to give it another chance in the future. That Sekiro comparison convinced me cause i love that game lmao
Also, I want to add that I don't think Battle Talent is trying to be Blade and Sorcery, I just think that a lot of the core mechanics are similar and it's clear that they based some of the core concept from it. And when you look at that and see how the mechanics play between both games Blade and Sorcery comes out on top most of the time. I appreciate you giving your input though, it did make me rethink some of my points and I always like things that challenge the way I view things. I'm glad that you personally enjoy the game, it's just not for me.
@@ZekeWaters_ I tried it, loved it, never played blade and sorcery though. Not a fan of violence, but i think the difference is it's goblins and fantasy creatures, not people.
@@ZekeWaters_to be honest i do believe you were expecting a game like blade and sorcery thats based on physics mixed with the concept of rouge but when you went in you saw a game with a parry mechanic rather than something close to swordsmanship like in blade and sorcery. From your gameplay i can see that you are playing the game like you would play blade and sorcery and thats not a good way to play battle talent. Battle talent values parrying a lot more than other melee games, its practically built on parrying. Also the game doesnt need to be completed or grinded in to be fun, when you get used to parrying the enemies get faster and more unpredictable which makes the game progress with your skill level. Battle talent is a great game, but it feels more like a tech demo, and that really shows in how the free demo is already 90% of the game, because if they excluded anything from the demo, it wouldn't seem good at all, since the paid game is just a demo.
