I love this! Sam Rubin was completely entitled to state how he felt regarding Perez Hilton. Sam has been a fixture at KTLA for over 20 years. He has more than earned his right to voice his stern opinion.
I was there when KTLA launched their straight news morning show against the big 3. Sam was not there on day 1 but joined 6 weeks into the show. It was a well done news show and was day by day sinking into the west. It was failing big time. Well, new producer came in and told everyone "Look you will be gone in the next few weeks, kick back and have fun". They did and with Sam as the best example blew the seriousness out the window. The ratings went through the roof and that show is still on the air 33 years later. OTher stations have tried this and failed. WHen you watched KTLA there was much fun stuff, but Sam's entertainment report - always a gem. Perspective - They were in the middle of nuts- crazy - news folks on 9/11. When what was happening the all grabbed their jackets, and hit their marks. No Jokes and took command. I tried looking at the big 3 and the CNN types but would go back to KTLA after a few minutes. I needed to electronic arm of my favorite news team around my shoulder saying it will be OK. Sam, you won't be coming back Monday - but as you start the next great adventure know that we'll be remembering you and thinking of you going forward. And Sam, just in case you didn't hear it over a million times today, Sam - Thanks!

I saw this video. Very good speech by Mr. Rubin. I do often wonder why the hell Perez is always downing some poor celeb he doesn't agree with on his blog. Why is he such a hater? Did he not have a nice childhood? I often wonder about his personal life in regards to his childhood, his parents, etc. And I notice those details are private while he's sniffin' in other celebs' affairs with his blog.

He even made snide nicknames for most which were hilarious. He could be mean but that made it entertaining. He rightly knocked celebs off their delicate pedestals they thought they deserved. Yeah, most celebs hated him but that’s in the nature of a gossip columnist job! He absolutely ruined his career and therefore relevance when he became “nice.” That’s boring like every other celeb news site. It totally changed his brand. It got even worse when he started brown nosing certain celebs that he used to totally eviscerate with his words. It’s not like he really ever had many breaking or many first scoops to begin with; the majority were taken from elsewhere but he used his own flair and put into his own words by making it his own. I haven’t read it for years now & doubt I ever will. He was the cause of his own demise.
