      Great video!
      One cool thing is using the pitch bend on the drum instrument. I don't think it works for every drum but it makes the kicks on the Electronic drums kind of trippy when you hit the kick and pitch bend together. Also good to use on high-hats.

    Just got mine in the mail today. ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxhcEDB3r-OJ3_X5hQzr7k1ZofTQy1ao_U The corners of the box was a little smashed but I think that’s more of the shipping’s fault. iPad was in perfect condition though. I ordered the yellow one thinking it was going to be a bright vibrant color. Instead I looks like more of a Gold color. I personally prefer the gold look. Definitely not disappointed but just a heads up to the ones expecting a brighter cream of yellow.

    I just wanted to share with everyone, If there is anyone trying to assign the Leslie rotation on the Hammond to your controller, which I noticed was not working with my faders or knobs, nothing was working, I tried my sustain pedal and,
    IT WORKS!!!! GOT THE LESLIE TO WORK ON MY HAMMOND! Very Happy!
    There might be other folks out there that would like this info. Thanks for your videos!
    By the way I'm using a M-audio Radium 49 controller.

    I have 3 different keyboards. One 61 key, a 49 key and a 25 mini key. The latter is the iRig Keys Mini and has cables & software included. It includes a micro USB to Lightning and therefore you don’t need the Lightning USB3 Connection Kit. For my 49 & 61 key I use the Lightning USB3 Kit. The iRig Keys 25 Mini is from IK MultiMedia and it’s cheap. I payed only €79 for it. In the box are 3 cables. A regular USB for Mac/pc, an OTG micro usb and a Lightning to micro usb cable. Plus some booklets and QR code to download some apps with extra content like iPiano, iElectric and Sampletank iOS. It’s also bundled with Sampletank for Mac and pc with extra options to choose from. Good deal if you ask me!

    • @PeteJohnsMusic
      @PeteJohnsMusic  5 років тому

      Thanks for the additional information Emiel. Yes, I have looked at the iRig Keys before and been a little put off by the price tag, but considering you don't need the lightning to USB adapter, this makes it a much better proposition for sure! One day my old eKeys will fail on me and it will be time to get a new keyboard, so I'm taking notes for that day!!

    Hello Pete, I know this video is 2years old. Can you please recommend a newer 49keys midi keyboard that works well with garageband on ipad and will not require that I power it externally. The M-Audio key 49 in your pinned comment seem like an old midi keyboard. Are there newer veraions 49 keys midi that is compatible with ios and garageband and doesnt require extra power

      Hey there. I’ve updated to the M-Audio Keystation 49 mk3 and must say it’s still my go-to keyboard. ua-cam.com/video/TABDDjDupFQ/v-deo.html

      Thanks so much @Pete Johnson. I am am ardent follower of your videos. I just recently picked interest in composing music for my films as I am a filmmaker as well with a little knowledge in music theory, your videos have immensely helped me to get started to making my music on an ipad. I have watched your other video on how to connect an audio interface to an ipad aswell. But I have a question troubling me. I am a very mobile person and will like to make my music on the go without access to plugging in to AC power. Just a small portable powerbank. Is it possible for me to connect my audio interface as well as my midi keyboard to my ipad without needing to connect anything to AC power, just my DC mobile powerbank. If No, how do I connect my midi keyboard to my ipad 7th generation and still be able to monitor what I am playing over an headset. I look forward to your reply. And thanks once again for all the wonderful videos you have been taking time out to make

    So can GB receive whatever sound I have in my midi keyboard? Or it will only recognize the instruments that it has as tracks? So if I set my keyboard to play let’s say a sitar, will GB receive that sound as is from the midi? Or do you have to find the sitar in GB? Let’s say GB doesn’t have a sitar (or any certain sound you have on your midi), will it record that sound?

    Anyone having difficulty with connected keyboard not playing in garage band? It worked initially.
    I figured it out. If you have a scale selected minor, Dorian, pentatonic etc. the key board won’t work. The scale function has to be off.
