Had this happen to me so many times over the years selling exotic cars here in the Austin area for a decade. It really is gut wrenching to work with a client, build a relationship, come to an agreement then at the last minute they pull out for no real logical reason
Im just gonna go ahead and say, despite situations like this, you definitely have what i personally would consider a dream job. How amazing it would be to pay your bills in this manner. Wow i think i love you
That's a rough deal after shaking a mans hand but he must of been torn himself on what they meant to him, gut instinct doesn't just tell you when you're hungry... Great stories John it would be good to hear more, a personal favourite of mine is from Vinwiki about the Miura that went to John Todt and I'd really like to hear you elaborate more on that one and anything else. Stay safe folks 🙏
Really appreciate the honesty, John! For an outside viewer you live in such a dream world, which obviously has its hard realities too… Besides that. Always great content! 👍🏻
Hey dude, very cool of you to be able to talk about the deals that didn't happen, or things that you might consider to be failures on your way to success. Love all the videos and keep the content coming! Cheers
Great story with a great collection of cars. Unfortunate that the deal fell apart but I’m sure it left capital available to go on to buy some other really special cars.
@curated what was the most #valueable car in that #collection. The #bugatti? The #959? Obivously we didnt get to see them all in the video. But just curious. Cheers!
There are 3 aspects of contract law: offer, acceptance & compensation. You made an offer, the seller accepted it. You can sue for breech of contract to recover some of your costs. Ask me how I know.
Hey, Your'e a nice guy John, that guy sounded like a snake and probably used you to ascertain the value of his collection so he could embark on a gradual sell off one by one.
Joke's on him since he paid the auction houses' commission/brokering fees for selling with them, and they hammered for even less than what John offered. I feel that's the cost of hesitation in the automotive world since cars of that magnitude have no set price point. At least he made a better margin than selling something like a resto-modded Chevelle at Mecum.
Don't get me wrong ; I have a passion for cars (otherways "I'll would look not into your channel") You sir Temerian can read a telephone book and make it sound like a poem . Thanks to your efforts on you tube (i steal with my eyes) i was able to now own a humble Porsche Boxster 986 2.5 1999 . Quite similar story's and chase for a less budget car with the same passion .
I had a cousin do me that same way! I really l9ved her and never seen her leaving me but up and out of the blue she left me and used the classic saying, "it's not you, it's me" then2 weeks later I found out she had been seeing my brother for over a month and that they were gonna get married in the spring! It hurt me really bad, and I've not talked to either of them since then, which was 3 years ago! She ended up not marrying my brother; she left him also! Like I said, I haven't talked to her since, and I told my dad I will never call her mom or step mom so he can forget it!
The owner of that collection is a very interesting person, met him many times talked cars many times, Yup, that's him aright as John described him............. John, what happens to the R35 GT-R he had there with 200 miles on it ? was it gone and sold ?
Same old story: he sees financial trouble or need funding, tries to sell the collection to be able to keep his lavish lifestyle, then for whatever reason the problem is gone and they cancel the deal. They don't give a fuck for the time and money you wasted because they are that kind of people
This car would need a service, this car will need tyres …….what!!!…..it’s a classic car collection….just make your offer, he isn’t interested in your reasons……..
Cant stand this dude, proper undercutter middle man, just take the damn things to a decent auction house and bypass this bloke, You save sooo much time and BS its unbelievable. Time is gold!
3 or 4 more literallies and I'd give you a thumbs up, I'd even hit the subscribe button! Literally is the 'cow bell' of 2015 through forever. Literally can't overdo it. More cow bell has become more literally. 😳
Underrated channel for sure. Great stories keep it up.

Should have bought the M1 and kept the other cars out of the deal.

Elaborate
The man knows the right "right" cars to collect!
Worth the waiting every time
Reminds me of Leno's cars.
Excellent content
I was so hoping that he would say that all the cars ended up going to auction and sold for less than he offered! 😂
Same old story: he sees financial trouble or need funding, tries to sell the collection to be able to keep his lavish lifestyle, then for whatever reason the problem is gone and they cancel the deal. They don't give a fuck for the time and money you wasted because they are that kind of people
great story john
running your own business could take years off your life expectancy. John had stomach cramps the entire week after that
That BMW M1 is making my pants tight.
Guy got a free appraisal. Probably ended up with a few than sat tight and sold at his leisure.
He was using you all for an appraisal.
nice story ty
i have all these cars in my Forza garage. No big deal.
