    Excellent video as always, I have just taken the plunge with Litchi and will use you video series as a guide. One thing I will probably add to my process is something you included in your crash analysis and is also featured in the video "Visual Mission Planning with Google Earth", this being the ability to import your planned mission in to Google Earth. This gives a clearer view of any potential hazards. I have not used that approach before. The last leg of your mission had the camera focus on the Town Hall (is that what you said it was?) - so was the drone flying backwards for the return leg of this journey?

      @WaddleAero  2 роки тому +3

      Thank you!
      When the weather improves I will work on more Litchi videos.
      On the last leg, because I had the drone facing waypoint on the city hall building, the drone was flying backwards on the way to the home point.

    Question. What process are you using in post processing to fix the somewhat jerky camera movement to make it more smooth? Thanks in advance?

    • @WaddleAero
      @WaddleAero  Рік тому +1

      Thank you for watching. I primarily use Maven, but the process is the same.
      The first thing is to try to minimize the jerky movement when filming. This can be done in a couple of ways. Litchi and Maven both use a "virtual stick" system, where the app simulates stick movment to move the drone. I find that flying when winds are calm or low speed helps a lot. Additionally, slowing the drone speed and increasing the radius of turns tends to smooth out the movement.
      If these methods are not possible, the footage has to be corrected in post. I use Davinci Resolve Studio for all of my editing. One method is to use the stabilization tools to smooth out some of teh jerky motion. I find that most of the movement issues happen in turns or orbits. If I find a really noticable jerk I will place a cut or a transition at that point. In an orbit, I would remove the bad footage and cut to a different angle or cut out the offending frames and add a cross disolve to smooth it out.
      I am planning a longer video where I will go through the entire process of shooting a cinematic video; from premission planning, preflight tools, creating and flying the mission and editing, including sound design and music.
      Hope this helps.

    I did find that when I had curves enabled, even the first way point action never initiated. Not just the way points it never hit.
    For now keeping curves off - not sure why curves didn’t work for me.

    If I have a home Way-point A set at 200ft, and a Way-point B set at 55ft, at what point will Litchi drop the altitude? Over Way-point B?

    • @WaddleAero
      @WaddleAero  11 місяців тому +1

      In Litchi and Maven, altitude changes between waypoints are linear.
      For example,
      - Waypoint A is at 200ft
      - Waypoint B is 400ft from A
      - Waypoint B is at 100ft
      The drone will descend evenly between the waypoints.
      So at the midpoint between A and B, the drone will have lost half the altitude.
      If you want the drone to stay at the initial altitude until it reaches the second waypoint and then descend, you can add an additional waypoint between A and B, near B, with the same altitude as A.
      Waypoint A = 200ft altitude
      Waypoint B = 200ft altitude
      Lateral Distance between A and B = 300ft
      Waypoint C = 50ft altitude
      Lateral Distance between B and C = 0ft
      Drone will stay at 200ft between A and B then descend when it reaches B
      Hope this helps

    Thanks for great demo. I'd be interested to know, how do you fix the jerky movement.

    • @WaddleAero
      @WaddleAero  Рік тому +1

      Thank you for watching.
      Because both the Maven and Litchi apps use a “virtual stick” method, where the app simulates the sticks moving, you will get jerky motion if the app has to apply aggressive stick motion.
      I use Maven more often than Litchi. In Maven, I have found that slowing the drone’s forward motion, increasing the arc radius on turns and trying to fly when the wind is lower helps smooth out the jerky motion.

    • @jerbear197
      @jerbear197 Рік тому +1

      New to drones myself and to the Litchi app but I believe selecting the INTERPOLATE option rather than the Focus POI option may solve the jerky movement.
      Motion interpolation or motion-compensated frame interpolation (MCFI) is a form of video processing in which intermediate animation frames are generated between existing ones by means of interpolation, in an attempt to make animation more fluid, to compensate for display motion blur, and for fake slow motion effects.

    • @WaddleAero
      @WaddleAero  Рік тому +1

      Thank you for watching.
      If I understand correctly, you placed a POI at each waypoint.
      Think of POI as where you want the camera to point and WAYPOINTS as where you want the drone to move and perform actions.
      As a test, set a POI and then set 4 waypoints at 50 feet from the POI, one to the North, East, South and West.
      Make sure to set the action on the first waypoint to START RECORDING and one on the last waypoint to STOP RECORDING. The drone should fly to the first waypoint, orient itself to the POI and start recording. It will then move through each waypoint while maintaining its orientation to the POI in the center.
      I hope this is what you were looking for.
