At least for my ears my 64 Audio (I use the A6T) are significantly more musical and less tiring to listen to that the UE's. That being said I agree that they are so much better than the typical Amazon ear buds and going custom really helps keep the volume down because of the isolation you can achieve with custom molds. Certainly an investment not just an expense.
I’ve had the ue rr capital studio edition for 7 years and never looked back. The great thing about those is that it’s not mixed so it’s more for mixing engineers to get the true sound. Make sure you upgrade and get the IPX connectors because they last longer.
I have a pair of live wires that I got back in 2006 and they are my back up. Currently using Aclair and about to upgrade the model on them or pick up another set of 64 Audio, Westone or UE. Once you go custom IME, you will never go back!!
Hey Chad, can you post a follow up video maybe two or three months from now? It’s really cool to see your first reaction (I can tell you’re excited 😀). I think it would be a cool addition to explain how much you actually gain from these IEMs in rehearsals and on stage. I think both the convenience of perfectly fitting IEMs as well as the clear sound are super helpful to band leaders, and honestly any musician in a role where they need to hear the others clearly (as in, drummers can usually get away with less high-end IEMs than say guitarists or pianists).
Rick, thanks for watching. The last part of the video is about 3 months later. I got them Dec 12th. I filmed the “what I think”portion a couple weeks ago. At last weeks rehearsal I used some of my $50 sets and I couldn’t finish rehearsal without getting my UE back out.
Excellent review! I have tried all the UE demo's sent to me, and I chose the UE7 due to more mid range for my vocal. I have also tried JH Audio sheena, and Jh16v2 which are all amazing with 10 drivers. I still think the best all-around for musicians are the UE7s and UERR due to their flat accuracy of the mix! I have had my 7s for 5 years now, and it is the best investment made. Keep up the great work!
I have a pair of LiveWires I’ve had since 2007. Currently using Aclair and about to order another set from UE, Westone or upgrade a better Aclair model. Once I went custom IEM I never looked back!
I had a terrible experience with the UE 11 pros, and with UE's horrible customer service. They assigned me to a rep named David Gutierrez who was entirely unresponsive for days, and when I had a problem, because instantly combative. I instantly regretted purchasing them. They say there have a 30-day money back guarantee, but what they don't tell you is there is a $400 "customization fee" if you return them, which means you're out $400 if you don't like them. Wildly overpriced with sound that's mediocre at best (my left monitor quickly developed distortion that ruins the sound at high volumes), I would avoid.
Only here cuz I lost an earbud to my jabra elite 10s which I loved but just got a bluetooth dac to use with my iems so I'm revisiting that rabit hole. I have had my kzs for a while and even with their drama I love my pair. I would definitely flirt with a nicer pair one day being from UE. I have 2 megaboom 3 speakers (one I got from lost and found at work! After so long) and I use at least one of them everyday. I've seen a lot of bluetooth stuff being in a kitchen most of my life but nothing beats my boom 3 at that size point. Only complaint I have is I have had to reset my battery 2x on one of them but that has fixed both times. It's under warranty for another few months (2 years) so I may get a new but I think it's because I let the battery get too low both times. Their customer service is also awesome.
Congrats on those nice IEMs, man! Sure they’re really pricey, but I think you’ll be very glad you did. That’s how it was for me. Now... don’t take this the wrong way, but you were sold by the description of the Reference Remastered? 😀 I’ve tried them as a universal fit option (and in my personal experience, whether an IEM is universal or custom fit *does not matter soundwise*). They didn’t sound perfectly linear to me, with EQed DT770 Pro and Adam Audio T7V tuned to my room in mind as a reference. They certainly sounded fantastic, but I didn’t necessarily like them better than my 64 Audio A3e. To me they seemed to have a significant boost from about 10kHz and up (whereas the A3e have a fairly wide bump at around 2k so it’s a matter of preference). For people who are "ready for some serious sound", and who want to hear the music the way it "actually" sounds: triple driver IEMs will do the job IMO, and they don’t have to be custom molded, even though that’s really nice to have. But something like the Audio Technica ATH-E70 will give you _just that_ - at a fraction of the cost. Heck, even Tin T2 Plus are fantastic IEMs, not only for the price. Or BASN Bmaster. Those are two genuinely solid choices that cost you less than $100. From ~250 Hz and up, the BASN Bmaster actually sound more linear and just as clear as my 64 Audio IEMs. And in Germany, the A3e were ~$900 at the time, so TEN TIMES as much. Finally I’d *strongly* recommend everyone to test hear IEMs before ordering something custom made. You’ll be surprised how different even high-end models can sound, so it’s a good idea to know what you’re buying before dropping that amount of cash.
I tried out every UE IEM they had and the RR sounded so flat but heard every detail.....best way I can put it in layman's terms is everything sounded flat with no life but you can hear the drummer smoking out back of the studio lol
So I have been having this problem when I have tried to pair my Megaboom 3 with my friend's Boom 2 with the PartyUp-feature. For some reason it only works if the Boom 2 is the "main speaker". On the Boom app when I try to use my Megaboom 3 as the main speaker it does recognize the Boom 2 on the shelf but when I try to move it next to the Megaboom 3 for pairing, it stutters for about 30-45 seconds and then just disappears completely. Meanwhile the pairing works just fine if my friend's Boom 2 is the main speaker. I don't know if this affects the sound quality any way but it's just a weird bug and I was wondering if anybody else is experiencing this.
I ordered my 2nd pair of UE and it’s been over two weeks and I have not received them yet. I tried emailing them and no one responded. I tried calling and no one has answered the phone for the past 4 days. I left voicemails and no one has called me back. I called logitech and (even though they own the company) they say it’s not their problem. I tried their online chat and it is always down. I would not spend thousands of dollars on this product. They currently have zero customer support/won’t even send you the product you buy in a timely manner.
Custom IEMs take time to build and quality check, much longer than two weeks in many cases. It is not as simple as packaging a pre-made product, especially when there are hundreds of bands using them on tour or artists paying extra for an express service. Custom IEMS are art as much as they are a tool.
Not really upset about the 2 weeks to receive them. More upset that I spent 1k on ears and no one responded to an email, phone call or any other form of communication. @@FELT.LIVEMUSIC

I tested a load today when ordering mine. I went for RR. I tried JH Layla, and 64 a12t. Both of them sounded muddy, very boomy, mids very forward which overpowered the top end. They tried to overcome that by giving around 10k a sharp boost. Which then sounded unnatural. Vocals were very sibilance heavy. I genuinely couldn’t believe it. I was so set on the 64 or JH models being considerably more, with more drivers to be drastically better, but I was really disappointed with both of them. RR was very clear, detailed, rounded but extremely natural sounding. It felt more like I expected them to sound. I went back and forth on the day for around 2 hours and eventually chose RR when I had budgeted for double that price point. More expensive doesn’t necessarily mean better, and I learnt that today. The RR are probably the best and they reminded me of the Audeze LCD-X when I tried those. I couldn’t get them because of their size and weight, but these were literally on par.
Correct 😅 but worth the extra 1k… for most people probably not. Am I glad I have them though, Absolutely! So it hard to say. The WAVS are nice though and I still want to try the upper levels they offer.
Mate, those are literally like £100. These are £1k. Plus, they’re wired. The sound will be drastically better. Can’t really compare those two realistically.
I thought the same thing until I put these in my ears. I use them about 4-5 hours weekly for church and many more depending on what video and audio projects I’m working on. Thanks for watching.
