- Bought this off eBay for $40 back in July 2022. It was in bad shape as it was so rusty and it was missing tires and an axle as well as hubcaps. It was also missing the smoke stack and lights.
I went to www.Gasolinealleytoys.com for those missing parts and new stickers. All in was about $30
I ordered the lime green powder coat from Prismatic Powder $12.95 + 12 shipping.
This fought all me all the way. It took over 1.5 hours to sandblast all the parts using Aluminum Oxide media. It was so rusty. I used JB Weld to fill in the pitted parts and then I sanded. When you think you are done sanding you sand more.
I couldn't use the rivets so I had to do something I don't like doing and use bolts. I try to use all Tonka parts if I can. I used Binding fence bolts and I was happy with them.
I use an Eastwood Dual Volt Powder coating gun and I turned an old smoker into a powder coating oven.
In the Video I show my Bottle Cap collection. If anyone would like to share Bottle Caps from where you are located sent me a note and I will send you my address and drop some stickers back to you.
Thanks for watching!!

That sandblaster is useless. You need a new one or fix it.
Powder coat sticks to JD Weld?
If you sand it really well and it's left in thick
I would not call this a restoration you changed colors and added lights and should have used heat gun on tires at the start and get a new sand blaster
😒😒😒🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️
Не прикасайся ни к чему. Всё само сломается. Не надо помогать.
Your tires are all wrong, those are directional tires that should be facing in one direction, other than that you did OK
I was going to say that! It's like he didn't even look at the tread and consider a pattern! Besides that, not bad
