Darja Varfolomeev im ZDF Sportstudio - Torwandschiessen

Varfolomeev ist die Enkeltochter eines deutschen Großvaters. Ihre Mutter, eine russische rhythmische Sportgymnastin, lebte im Alter von 16 bis 18 Jahren in Deutschland, nahm in dieser Zeit die deutsche Staatsbürgerschaft an und kehrte anschließend nach Russland zurück. Varfolomeev kam in Barnaul, der Hauptstadt der russischen Region Altai im Süden Westsibiriens, zur Welt. Mit drei Jahren nahm sie ihre Mutter mit in die Turnhalle. Als Varfolomeev zwölf Jahre alt war, zog sie ohne ihre Eltern und ohne Deutsch zu sprechen in das Internat des Bundesstützpunkts des Deutschen Turner-Bundes nach Fellbach-Schmiden. Aufgrund ihres deutschen Großvaters konnte sie von der russischen zur deutschen Staatsbürgerschaft wechseln.

From the world cups, most of her medals are from the Challenge cup /second-class competitions, with not so strong competitors/ - cups such as Portimão, Pamplona, Tashkent, etc. That's how they elevated her and presented her as strong, otherwise she's nothing special...
