"Plato, Aristotle and countless thinkers across history have criticised democracy. They called it fragile, easily swayed by emotion, and prone to electing leaders who cater to the crowd instead of making wise decisions." (at 3:00) That's a really important takeaway. Sometimes it's important to actually think critically about democracy and its flaws, instead of sacralizing it. You don't have to make it a dictature or anything, but at least you can try to patch the problems as best as possible (like when many central banks became independant from governments, leaving an important economic aspect to experts instead of politicians).
Perhaps I'm the only one that over estimates stupid people. All I have to do is look at the amount of resources we waste, the food we eat, and what we spend our free time on. I feel sorry for scientists who actually can extrapolate what we are doing to our own biologically adapted environment😢.
Exactly, we call it democracy but you can never have full democracy, i.e. power to the people, there are always flaws. And if you legalize hate speech like in the US, or if you let billionnaires buy large parts of the media to propagate ideas at their own benefit and at the expense of journalistic standards like in the US, France, and many countries around the world, you have to realize you're moving away from democracy.
I think that these laws of stupidity are a good start, but incomplete. Couldn't someone be considered stupid for instance, if they decide to screw over a thousand people for a temporary bonus to their own position?
no, they can't, according to "the book", (or more precisely to the esse), they'd fall into the "bandit" category, which is nowhere as dangerous as a "stupid" category. (I share the notion in the long run when statistically speaking, but that is gross oversimplification, with no significant benefits neither in understanding nor calculations)
The democratic way of life is a joke. It seems that most people who vote lack knowledge about the economy, politics, and other critical matters. Moreover, the minds of the masses can be easily manipulated. Therefore, a democratic way of life isn't an ideal goal to aim for.
We need rule by experts where unelected men with college diplomas as well as scientists and economists are the ones making the important decisions for the less educated masses.
It remains to be seen what will come of Trump's second term, despite your open bias. Is it possible that a majority voted for him because they couldn't stand the thought of four more years of the horrible decisions made by the current administration (of which Harris would have simply been an extension)? If you really want to single out a 'stupid leader', I nominate Keir Starmer; isn't he a lefty like you? If you disagree (which is your prerogative), please tell us about all the good things he's done for Britain...

We need informed citizens who are willing to defend the Constitution. Willing to fight to the end to restore a truly democratic way of life.
