Thank you for handcrafting this game! It feels so much better than running into the same damn thing 500 times like other games. I can't wait to see whats to come for this game.
A month late but I can’t agree enough. Randomly generated world/level/dungeon was a nice novelty for a while but for me I strongly prefer handcrafted worlds now 😅
I'd love to have something like this as a creation kit to make custom content for the game. The amount of user generated content would be crazy. Still day one buy either way. Keep up the beautiful work.
After playing the demo this is one of the few games thats on my wishlist, rather than wait for a sale wishlist. Openworld tree punchers tend to be slightly more of a risk with early access but the demo play seemed to indicate that the game wasn't going to be set up to punish those wanting a singleplayer experience by balancing on the assumption of groups.

Super interesting to see how you create the world. Question though, do you guys have plans how to increase the replay value? Like, expanding the map you currently have or creating entirely new maps (possibly as DLC, similar to ARK)? Because I really loved the demo, but usually the replay value for me are randomized maps in these types of games, like Valheim for example. So once I've "played through" a handmade map, I don't see much point in playing it again because I've already seen everything, know where everything is, etc.
Yes we plan to add lots of content over the course of early access, as well as potential room for more content after that depending on what our future plans become. While random generation certainly offers *theoretical* infinite replayability, in practice it is often fairly repetitive by nature since it will always need to be less detailed to properly function. In Valheim for example, technically the dark forest will be different every time you generate a new world, but in practice once you've explored it once it's unlikely you're gonna have many surprises the second time around. Things will be in slightly different places, but it's all the same stuff, just shuffled around. This isn't to say proc gen is bad, but it doesn't always inherently make a game "infinitely replayable" by default. We've packed our world with content to explore that should last quite a while, and we will continually add to that as we develop the game further. And of course a lot of that content will be shaped by what our players want to see once they start playing 🥰
Big Portal Knights fan, I still play till this day and have it for PS, Switch and PC. Very excited for Enshrouded as it looks an "adult" version of PK with the same pillars. Cant wait for Early Access. Keep up with the good work.

I want to know this too! I'm always so torn between handcrafted and procedurally generated environments. Handcrafted can make far more interesting and meaningful places, but procedural generation can make exploration more meaningful after you've played the game a lot. I feel like mods are a happy medium, because you can get a bunch of new handcrafted places.
We are definitely considering it. It will be tricky to implement due to the game's engine being our own. There are no out of the box tools, we will have to build them ourselves. But we know mod support is the difference between a good game, and a great game!
The games is already great. All I want from you guys is constant 5 month updates with new weapons, Mobs, Bosses and building pieces. Props to the team, it's still in early access, but it's already delivering more than supposedly full-fledged triple A games. Edit: Thanks for that vide.o I had to actually look it up to confirm the world was actually procedurally generated. I couldn't believe it when I was in-game. That mix of procedural/handcrafted-POI stuff works SO well, I legitimately thought the "procedural part" of the game was just a marketing stunt ahah :)
Looks good, i will try this out! I hope you're creating some bosses thay are very very difficult, were you WILL die atleast ones so that one has a goal to strive for, part of the charm is having to adjust and talk strategy with the boys
There are few things that make me scared about this game, For exemple the grappling hook is a great idea but you can only use it on a specific metal points, not evrywhere (that says a lot about the way they conceptualized the game) , also it is not possible to climb. There is an auto lock when using bow. Also, one cool thing about this type of game is that while gathering resources, you also have to make your way back home, facing all the dangers and adventures that come with it. But here, you can just teleport for free if you're not in the fog. I get the feeling that there is a lot of mechanics used to make the game easier or more accessible, but in the end, it breaks immersion and quickly lead to a sense of fatigue among players. That's at least what I observe in most games that have made these choices
Absolutely agreed. Releasing these kinds of tools to the public for modding would help so much in keeping player retention in the long run, maybe even an Ingame browser for created content.

this looks good and promising, you guys are genially showing the effort and hard work. putting all that imagination into a reality. i like this kind of videos more than game trailers just slamming a 5min gameplay that kind of gets tiring.
I’d like to see random stats on loot. And dungeons like places we can play over and over again. Maybe it can be a unique place apart from the survival world that we have to teleport to.
I loved the demo… my wife was not interested and I got her to try it and then I told her… you guys worked on portal knights which is a big fan for her… she is sold. So I guess I am buying it for both of us haha and another friend so we can team up and more will follow.. we cannot wait for this specially the voxel based building. Fingers crossed for Easter eggs and hidden stuff to find. Also, builds would be great to earn xp and become super strong and base build gorgeous stuff. The terraforming is a big thing for me… this will be a good replacement needed from landmark. Can you add gold, minerals etc in the ground to dig out and use?
I had a lot of fun playing Enshrouded's demo, and I was hooked by the game's gameplay-enhancing features. The Shroud system allows the player to set their limits and plan their progress more carefully. I think it's more fun and instructive to play games without seeing them as a product of fast consumption, which a lot of game seen like this, unfortunately. The fact that Enshrouded and a few other games like it offer such gameplay can break the classical survival game design structure, but I think it would be better for both the game industry and the players if more players got used to it.

I am totally impressed with your dev tools! I have to wait until February to buy your game, but as soon as I get paid on in Feb your game is mine :D
Thank you! Our engine team worked very hard and it really paid off ❤️
@@Enshroudedgame It's a breath of fresh air in today's gaming industry.
I love it!
one question: will the game have couch/local co-op like Portal Knights when it arrives on console?
NIIIICE. Been following this game since last week. Didnt know it already comes out in january. Really need my open world fix. This looks like a pretty cool game to play woth friends!
Definitely do tell them to wishlist the game if they haven't! It helps us A LOT!
@@Enshroudedgame Will do, gentlemen / dames. We are in deep need for something new after building our backside cavities off in Valheim!
As an indie dev i can only say wow! These tools and your engine are super awesome. You convinced me that Voxel is the way to go. Now if you'll excuse me im gonna sell my soul to the devil in exchange for this tech
this looks good and promising, you guys are genially showing the effort and hard work. putting all that imagination into a reality. i like this kind of videos more than game trailers just slamming a 5min gameplay that kind of gets tiring.
Thanks so much for the kind words! We're proud of what we made and it makes me happy to see players as excited as we are ❤️
Reall nice work on the engine, graphics and animation look really nice.
Thanks so much! Our engine team did a fantastic job and we are really proud of it ❤️
@@Enshroudedgame Any plans to make it open source in the future?
Not that we are aware!
Very cool insides. Would like to see more :)
Looking forward to play the game! Nice Video!
Thanks!
Thank you for your work
This is some genius tool design!
WOW! I just love Enshrouded and now I love it even more!
❤️
I had a lot of fun playing Enshrouded's demo, and I was hooked by the game's gameplay-enhancing features. The Shroud system allows the player to set their limits and plan their progress more carefully. I think it's more fun and instructive to play games without seeing them as a product of fast consumption, which a lot of game seen like this, unfortunately. The fact that Enshrouded and a few other games like it offer such gameplay can break the classical survival game design structure, but I think it would be better for both the game industry and the players if more players got used to it.
looking forward to playing this!
Not much longer to wait! ❤️
What engine are you using for this project? :) Looks cool!
It's a custom engine that we made in-house ourselves. Internally we refer to it as "holistic" 🥰
This looks like the next generation of post-apocalyptic mmo open-world survival games like never before!
As an aspiring landscape artist I LOVE this!
I hope it offered you some inspiration! ❤️
Amazing! would be cool to see what modders make with this as well
We will try our hardest to offer modding tools eventually.
@@Enshroudedgame :O thats amazing to hear looking forward to getting lost in your game in January. I didnt even play the demo because i wanted to go in blind
Super cool. Love this kind of content
I hope we can get this program as part of a modkit. Would love to make custom maps and add new items and the like
I can't wait for this game to come out in January!
We can't either!
Omg, I wish I could buy the voxel engine you're using
Always like a peak behind the curtain for game dev
