sam bush does this cover justice...and so does Jimmy Buffett. WAR has that "x" factor though and you can really feel it. great song and thanks for posting.
Sam, you sound fantastic. I always add those grassy harmonies when I sing along with Willis. But...no mandolin? You know I'm a fool for a mandolin player. And the rest of the band sounds...perfect
You're welcome. I love this song. I just realized recently that Jimmy Buffet was singing this song a long time ago. Neither Sam Bush, nor Jimmy Buffet wrote it though. It was written by a man named Willis Alan Ramsay. I am not a fan of Jimmy Buffet for the most part, but his version of this song is really good . You should check it out. And if you haven't checked my channel, you really should. I have a lot of great music on it
This is my first time hearing this . Terrific up load thank you
I'm a WAR fan from way back and am liking this cover. Thanks for posting it.
Willis Alan Ramsey is one of a kind and nobody else's version quite sounds true to me. If you ever get a chance to see him, don't miss it!

Awesome with the Cowan harmony. This song haunts no matter the original or Sam's version.

Nice version of a great song
This is the song my dad played when I lived with him. He had a tape player and wore it out until he had every chord.
One of my favorite songs that Sam does!
Well then you should hear Willis Alan Ramsey sing it. He wrote it.
Great version
Two words, Jerry Douglas!!!
Lance Guy ~ YEAH BUDDY!!
Jerry Douglas is a great dobro player----if you like dobros. Not me. Hee Haw.
Spider John was written by Willis Allen Ramsey.
Great Version of this. Another is Michael Hedges.

Gabe Hampton ~ don't like Buffett's version. Can't get the words right. Jimmy gets A Pirate/40 and Willis gets S. John. Wait...Sam can have it too.
I love Jimmy Buffett's version, but this is great too.
Ohh, my Father...
most excellent although you try willis alan ramseys version spider
There are some songs that just oughta be left alone.
I agree. Every cover I have heard of this song sucks.
