@@DefNotCrissyou're wrong. The Legion still does recruit former criminals. They just don't recruit the most dangerous of them such as murderers, drug traffickers or rapists. I was in Foreign Legion last year and lots of them were former criminals.

Yeah, you're right 100%. French Legion checks everyone with Interpol and through their own and also French contr-intelegence. As you said they take small thugs but not serious criminals. No murderers, no drug trafficers, not rapists, no all kinda perverts, terrorists or spies.

Memories from 20 years ago when I was camping in Tanzania in a national life surrounded by African wild life. This was a lifetime experience for me and I was scared like s… to be eaten by lions or croco during the night.
Then I see a South African family camping just 50m away, with kids. And for them, well… relaxed as this was their everyday camping back home 😂

Someone confirm if you sign your life away, when enlisting with the FFL? As in, you'll most likely never see your family again, and you'll never have your identity again?
Yes, they give you a new identity, and sign your life to the French military, however I don't know about the family part.

Additionally, they assume a new identity while pledging their allegiance and loyalty to the Foreign Legion, distinct from direct enlistment in the French military.

Quelques soit, le pays où la légion intervient, il y a toujours des légionnaires issues de ce pays, les légionnaires sont proches des autochtones et partagent avec eux les repas, ce qui resserre des liens, chose que ne font pas les américains, qui n'ont que du mépris pour eux, c'est pour cette raison que où que vous interveniez vous aurez toujours plus de dégâts, alors cesse de rigoler comme un idiots.

People in the comments think that the FFL will take anyone from anywhere, but the truth is that for about 100 candidates applying to serve in the Legion, only 10-15 are accepted.
So out of 100 stupid people, 10 stupid ones get accepted? Got it.
When you’re military, you can’t afford to be picky since anyone with a brain would avoid to enlist in the first place.

Can vary but About 1700usd plus bonus. Depends on alot. but thats ballpark. Also food, housing,all the ect stuff you get in any branch of the US military. You prob know... but they change your name, age, parents, background , ect. Basically your whole life gets a redo and rewrite . 🤙
from what i understand the pay isn't great 1500 ish euros for a starting soldier (e1 equivalent in the american army?) and i mean the regular medical benefits. possibility to apply for french citizenship after like 3 or 4 years, automatic citizenship if youre injured on the job.

Dude you can get kicked out for doing something wrong like physical test if you do pull ups don't swing or whip your legs just to do your extra pull up if your near to failure just stop at 21 or 20 pull ups and the rest just try not to do anything that looks like cheating even though your giving everything you got

All you need is a passport, 50 euro and not be wanted by Interpol and that's from their own website lol
The FFL clears your past, as long as you’ve never been involved in drugs, blood crimes, and any harm on children.
They even give you a new identity.

Come on, the legion does not look for people with a criminal record, it recruits people on physical and psychological criteria which must be out of the ordinary.
If you pass the tests successfully, you will be recruited, but the selection is tough and there are many candidates.

Yes they take people from every walk of life but they only take about 10% of applicants so you should be 100% sure that you are in a prime physical and mental condition if you consider dropping everything you have to try
How do i join?
Fly to Paris or aubange and sign up at the recruitment center
Just be warned 1 out of 8 participants are accepted and you only have one chance, if you fail there is no second chance, ever. So be prepared to go back home just in case.
I went there on November last year (Aubagne). There’s an official website giving you indications on how to join and what to take.
Don’t expect anything just go through it, be patient and humble with yourself and others and be genuinely motivated, then you should be fine.
Also very important, make sure you don’t have any medical conditions like broken bones or respiratory; one of the guys I met there he had a car accident, broke his clavicle and never went to the hospital to fix it, so they discharged him from the pre selection.
Don’t take drugs, be serious, don’t lie, be realistic. Good luck
