We’re excited to announce we are building a small cabin on our property! In this video we start on getting the foundation leveled and nailing together some sticks!
This is something I've been wanting to do on my land near San Saba, TX to get away from the city. I currently live in DFW and its quickly becoming a damn headache that I'm sick of dealing with lol.
Absolutely! If you need any help or advice feel free to let us know! Cabin is coming together nicely and we only have about $25k invested for material and some labor. Expected to spend around 35k or so once fully complete.
You have lax building codes or you are building without a permit. No foundation below a possible frost line. No anchor points. Small floor joists. I am scared to see what is coming up next.
Yes we are in the sticks, no permits required. We’re learning as we go and we will make mistakes but hey we are trying!🤞🏻 Anchors and straps will be very soon.
Perhaps consult a span table before commenting on the "small floor joists"? Looks like 2x6 on 16" centers over a 8' span. Max allowable span is 9' 11". Bigger joists would be a waste. Also, floating foundation is a good cheap method and even used in Alaska. It can be adjusted when settling or frost heave occurs.
@@BlueSpringFarm everything over 120sq ft has to have a permit pulled in Arizona. The span of 2X8s is preferred after seeing how some sheds are overloaded with too much weight. No rebuilding huge V8 on a stand...JS

very ambitious, will be fun to watch the progress :)
Gonna be quite an adventure 🙃
How are you going to anchor that building ?
Great question! We’re are going to use mobile home anchors that drill into the ground.
