The culture isn't lost. The people are just too indulged in other traditions rather than their own. However people like myself the true Rilolelaplapians of these islands will preserve what we currently have and to revive what was lost.
True facts, there's no such thing as a Marshallese dictionary, well take that back unless you become a college student then you've earned the right to read one. And yeah not so much of us could afford such gold 😔
This was the beginning of the end of the Marshallese culture. Forcing Christianity on people who had lived on these islands for thousands of years. Now, ask any islander what their ancestors called themselves before British explorer John Marshall put his name on the islands, and they don't even know. 80 years ago there was no word for suicide in the Marshallese language. Now it is the most common cause of death for young men 15 to 30 years old. The U.S. government forced peaceful islanders off their home islands and put them on a reservation so the government could test nuclear weapons. It's called Ebye, aka, the slum of the Pacific.
Where did you get your history from? Looks like you don't even know what you're talking about. If you're saying about the U.S. Government and their nuclear tests and, yet, you mentioned, "Ebye," which we understand the correct spell, "Ebeye." You talking about two different stories here and you don't even know neither of them. What a shame if you're an historian, are you not? Of course, you're not and you're just the "Grandpa the Grey" who need to do more study and research before you show the world that you didn't listen before you speak. Now, which one are you referring to, 1946-1958 or 1960s-today. In your introduction, you're saying, "Beginning of End of the Marshallese culture." Well, we know very well why we should accepted our ethnicity to be called after this foreigner. And we're glad we became part of the world civilization. If you learn about our custom (which you do not know), you'll understand that we were civilized people from the beginning, our customs, clearly, explained it. About 270 years ago, we adopted christianity after the first missionaries, successfully, proclaimed to the people the holy scriptures. Just after the WWII, Americans didn't forced the people as you mentioned, but, the fact is, they lied to the people that what they were about to do was for the good of mankind and it was in the hand of God. When the people heard the words, "it's in the hand of God" they immediately believed and give them privilege to do. Before, the Captain Marshall, of course, our ancestors knew what they called themselves, even today, we know, but you're the one who don't know nothing, because you do not know what you're talking about. You're not an historian, I don't think you're an American, but if you are, man, you got be ashamed of yourself. Where did you learn that poor history of yours?
Although I partly agree with this I'll have to say that the culture(some of it) still thrive to this day.As for few parts were lost.People like me.The true Rilolelaplapians of these islands are going to preserve what we currently have and to revive what was lost. It's the people who are too blind or careless for their own rightful heritage.Ignorance to be proud for what their ancestors left behind. In their brainwashed heads they view the ancient ones as subhumans or evil.Yet the very religion they worship today also has that type of history. Christianity like all other religion isn't about peace.Blood, wars, and chaos are the foundations for it.They're hypocrites to bash on the ancestors yet follow a religion who does the claim being painted on the forebears. Riab in rimajol is what is true ones call them."People of lies".
@@micronesiangreatnessyou’re wrong. when europeans brought christianity to africa, africans were required to give up priceless african artifacts and renounce their ideas and traditions just to recieve medicine. in result many africans have lost their culture and history. and look at da marshallese ppl. they pretty much lost theirs too after christianity was introduced. many things about ourselves we done forgot like da ancient language and other precious things. i doubt we can have those back now.
@YHWHisSovereign The west (in particular the USA) also brought Castle Bravo and Ivy Mike to the Marshall Islands. Somehow I don't think Jesus approved of what we did. Certainly not freedom for the islanders who were forcibly removed from Bikini and Eniwetok, which were then destroyed in the most horrifying manner.

Christianity brought literacy to the world. Some religions enslave, and others just don't care, but Christianity brings education and freedom thanks to the missionaries who obey the commands of Jesus.
I kinda agree. matter of fact, i'm not at all religious but i am thankful that the missionaries came to our islands with their knowledge and taught us how to read and write.
