- This week we went mudlarking on the River Thames foreshore. It was a beautiful day and we found some unusual things! Come along and see what we found...
We have opened a Ko-fi account, so if you wanted to support us by buying us a metaphorical cup of coffee it would be greatly appreciated xx

I LOVE those unique slag glass pieces that look like a 'galaxy', an 'iridescent moon', or as you mentioned the "Starry Night painting by van Gogh"; if mine, I wouldn't tumble them at all.
Where else on earth can you find finger bones, Roman pottery, Victorian glass, Tudor pins - all in the same place? The Thames is a wondrous place and the history is amazing. I am so happy that both of you so appreciate that and it is very charming how you find such beauty in the discarded "rubbish" of the people of the past. Really enjoy watching your videos and very happy to hear that you enjoy making them!
Thank you so much Robin. There is nowhere quite like the Thames :)
Kate: I've found a human finger bone and a wig curler.
Mom: A wig curler?!?
Coolest mom EVER!!
Sunday wouldn’t be Sunday without Sunny the Mudlarking Supervisor!
Finger bones, fascinating. By having them and valuing them, you give them honour. Wonderful video, thank you.☮️🇨🇦
Hello Ladies, I am living in Germany at the Baltic Sea and my greatest dream is to go mudlarking at the Thames in future. Normaly I have been there at the end of July, but Corona cross my plans. But maybe one day... I think the fossil you find could be a half seedcapsula of a plant...very interesting find! Best regards from Northern Germany 🤗
Thank you :)
. . . and now I find myself shrieking at my screen, "pipe stem!", "pipe bowl!", Codd marble!", "OMG! Why didn't you take that pottery piece?!!", and "Who cares if it's broken?!! You can file it down!!!" like an absolute lunatic. 😂❤️
The fossil you found looks like a crinoid head. My favorite is the fossil. And the slag glass is beautiful. Great finds. Hugs for Sunny cat.🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰
Thank you :)
Did you hear me yelling at you Kate? You missed a pipe stem. ❤️🇨🇦
Glad you have on knee pads the knees take a beating!! Also the magnifying glass looks Fab Kate!
I love your videos. They make me feel so happy and at ease 💜
Thank you :)
Great finds.
The finger bones were somewhat sad to me. However interesting. Especially when you think it might have been because of hunger. I agree with Kate, I loved the blue slag glass. I always enjoy your videos. I smile when I hear Kate say...I'll have to ask mom! It's obvious that you both love mudlarking and it shows so nicely in your videos!
Thank you :)
Just started watching your Vlog. Hello from Tucson Arizona. Love watching trash items to treasure items
Welcome and thank you very much I hope you enjoy our other videos :)
Wonderful video as always! So, I have been tumbling blue slag glass to send to you all for weeks! 1, it is rough on the rubber gasket and keeps slicing it, 2, you do loose the iridescence. At this rate it won't be ready until Christmas!🤭
Thank you that is so kind! :)
Some of the slag glass looks like a piece of the moon with it's craters etc 😊
Actual pieces of the moon look kind of boring, just brown.
They are definitely finger bones. Cool find. They used to hang people on the thames.
Hi Ladies once again enjoyed your video, some interesting finds. The finger bones were interesting you can keep your finger on the pulse of mudlarking now 😁 looking forward to your next outing xx
hahaha Thank you :)
Do you know why they only made the string or chain to an eye glass only long enough to reach your eye? So you won't drag it thru stuff. I liked seeing it in the film though.
Ooh Fleur ... There's a lot of boinging going on after 12. Lol Plus it's got to say something Kate when your mother with the dark sense of humor says that you picking up finger bones is creepy. Love you all so much. Smiling after the videos every time.
Thank you :)
Oh goodness all those shards of flat glass you could make so much with it. It is thin so it could be cut to shape. You could cover a bird bath or a bench in the garden or even put a piece here and there on a garden wall. Make picture frames or even put a picture behind a clear piece goodness girls so many things. I don't live close to anything like that can't even go mudlarking here , there are no trespassing signs every where here. Ofcourse you can go to lakes and beaches they are more often than not covered with people . Most local people go early in the mornings. Beaches have beautiful sea shells of all kinds but there to local people have trucks that take up all the shells before dawn most all is left are broken , but I would get excited finding even a broken one. Starfish are found a lot and what we call sand dollars , round flat with a flower in the middle .
Would you be able to pick up the pins using a magnet?
I think a wine decanter stopper.
Si-finds might be able to help you identify the button or you could look at www.thamesbuttons.com which is run by Si-finds, Nicola White and Mike Walker 😊👍
Could the fossil be part of an animal's heel bone? It's so symmetrical on the inside, and looks like there's room for tissue or muscle, like chambers, the outside is worn down
as if by rock climbing. Perhaps a mountain goat from long ago
I wish you guys would have moved some of those rocks and concrete pieces no telling what was stuck under them. Well you know Nicola found a jawbone and the whole bottom of the head/Jaw on the Thames and Si Finds found a whole skull and Si found a whole Roman pot and a jug, the Jug was in his last week's video. Also in Nicola video last week.
There was a coin and a pipe Bowl
How could Kate be excited about finding a human finger bone? YUK! That stone looked like a fossilized Pandanus nut. Please ladies leave the bones alone. Very ghoulish.
Young lady you do wear the most marvellous outfits when you are digging in the dirt. Love your wonderful videos.
I watch to see Kate's outfits and what color her fingernails are.
Kate is pretty, stylish, funny, humble, and smart. She is crafty and very talented in putting things together that could go together in a way most would never think of. I bet she crafts her fashion and accessories, her look.
She's amazing!
I love hearing the background noises from the trickling water to the sounds of the bells tolling. I hope you realize that so many of us old people live vicariously through you two. We can mudlark without actually being there.
During these trying times you bring so much joy to the lonely people. God bless you, and many many beautifil days of mudlarking.
Thank you again for sharing your time and adventures with us all.
Thank you so much for such a lovely comment! :)
You're such lovely people, and your passion is so addictive, it's like going out with friends every Sunday, thank you so much for ano0ther lovely episode, my favourite weekly viewing.
Thank you so much! :)
I was super busy working today but saw the new upload so had to make a cup of tea and come to see you 2! That magnifying glass made me smile, I know where you got that. The book clasp is my favorite but it's always hard to choose just one. Lovely video as always, now I go back to work, thanks for the break!
Thank you so much Sharon! :)
Wonderful finds. I don’t think the finger bones are creepy at all. I like you find them very intriguing.
They all carry history, but they don't all carry DNA! Loved your video! 💗
I get the thing about the glass. Not everyone appreciates the beauty in non expensive things. There is beauty in everything if you really look at it.
I agree totally :)
I loved the way the piano lightly weaved its way through the film with the soundscape of London behind - sirens, water, birds. Excellent editing as always.
Thank you very much! :)
Fleur grab the pipe stem lol! Yes love the irredescent glass!!
Hi Sunny baby boy 😻😻
Lol!! I said the same thing, pick up the pipe stem!!
Oh gosh, Fleur 🙌🏻!!!! Your Tudor Rose button is my favorite of your finds🥰!!! I don't know what it is about the Tudor Rose design that fascinates me so much. But then again, buttons are such a personal item. Not only did they adorn someone's clothing, but the person actually touched it. AMAZING!!! Your fossil reminds me of a human or animal heart.
The human finger bones are definitely evocative. They made me feel 🤔... somewhat sad. But whomever the person or persons where...we all thought a moment about their personage and remembered them for just a glimmer of time.
Love and safe keeping to you and your precious family. Hello to Sir Sunny (official finds inspector 🤔🐾), and Steve 🐟 and Tony 🐟.
😊🤗🤭😘
The Tudor Rose button is 😍😍
Thank you so much Juliet :)
The finger bones are a great find . You can't get more personable than that ! More good finds , and thanks for sharing .
I believe that is a Distal Phalange.
Nice finds Lady’s 🌹🌹
Kate You have to be the Nicest Color Coordinated Dressed Mudlarker on the Thames!☀️
Thank you :)
Love the flint and the wig curler and the beautiful glass pieces. It's amazing how with all of the mudlarkers in London that there are still great treasures to be found.
There is nowhere like the Thames :)
Every time I see you go mudlarking, I want to go. Not much chance of winning the lottery so I can travel. I would skip over the bones though...
The large stone were your mum was collecting pins looks like a face
I noticed that also.
Me too!
Lovely finds. Thank you both🐱🤗🧡
One thing I like about mudlarking is that it seems like every Finder can find something they like. Rocks, fossils, metal stuff, pottery, toys...Everyone has a niche and it looks like you can make everyone happy!
That is the beauty of mudlarking :)
What a lively lark. What do you do the human bones? Do you notify someone? Fun finds.
Fun area to Lark! I agree with mum...finger bones are creepy. They'd give me nightmares. 😯🐦💜
Massive outdoor I Spy adventure.
Beautiful day, beautiful ladies! The Thames is in my bucket list! Great finds! Cheers!
Love the way you down into looking for the treasure s I'm from usa Washington state
Could you take the bones to a museum to find out if they’re human?
Thanks for another entertaining video.
Mou mou Sunny cat. Awesome pins. That dog used to be white 😂🤣😂. Not a spindle whorl ladies sorry. Lovely glass and pottery pieces. Thanks for taking us along. Nice day downtown for you both. Blessings. If it's someone's bone you should put it back in the river where the rest of the body is resting. Not good for your soul to be with parts of other people. Just suggesting.
I don't think those are finger bones. The small one is a pork knuckle.
Lol, you telling Mum you found a human finger bone and a wig curler: Mum was more incredulous about the wig curler find!
:) :) :)
To be funny , you got the finger! Oh and I think I would use the piece of candle stick as a bottle stoppers it's so pretty I wouldn't want to change it you could maybe put a marble in the hole where the candle would fit.
Thank You and a wonderful Sunday to you Ladies, I am so grateful to have found your channel, Love what U do, and I do scratching and digging around too. If I ever found you all on the beach, would come running to ya , shouting , waving 😊keep coming back Fleur & Kate, You bring Joy to my world💗oh we got to hear Big Ben, so Awesome
Thank you so much Georgia :)
Hi great to see you both today on your favourite beach to say hello hope you had some great finds will be watching Sunday
It was lovely to meet you! Actually you wishing us good luck seem to work as I found something amazing after you left! :)
What a fascinating collection, my favourite is the glass, beautiful.
Ha. I think I have the other piece of your wig curler. Only piece I have found so far.
Thoroughly enjoyed that!
Great small finds! Def look like finger bones also....sometimes the so called thief was only stealing food for his hungry family or self....you never know, sad but glad you saved them!♡
Great video again my Sunday afternoon viewing sorted ,always look forward to your next instalment of mud larking wonderful girls keep up the good work very entertaining thank you for sharing.
Thank you :)
It is so interesting what you could find mudlarking. Great video.
Some days it appears that there were more bottle stoppers made in England than the entirety of all the clay pipes!
Just subscribed as I have enjoyed watching a couple of your videos and I watch Tom Burleigh and the Northern Mudlarks on the regular and Si Finds and Nicola White thanks for sharing your adventures and treasures 👍🏻💕
Welcome and thank you! I hope you enjoy more of our films :)
Yes I bet it is. Nurse here. Sure looks like a phalanx.Might be toe though - seems heavy for finger? Also, that one rock looks almost like a walnut fossilized with the meat still inside! I should have waited to comment though, I like your answer better. Do you ever sell your crafts? you do a great job, nice eye!
We have an Etsy shop which we sell the crafts we make in a video every other Thursday :)
Thank you for another lovely video 😊 so enjoyable to watch.
Great finds as always 👍
Thank you for sharing ❤😊
Thanks so much! 😊
Your films are wonderful I enjoy all of them
The large finger bone is from a deer, the little one is a pig's! I made such a ruckus when you found a spindle whorl!!!! I spin with both a drop spindle and a wheel, so finding a spindle whorl would be a dream for me, alas I can't really get out. With the size of that whorl I would say it is for very light weight singles, so probably for a lace weight yarn or even thread!
It is a debate as to if it is a spindle Whorl or not :)
Will watch to see what you do with the black glass candle stick end...a dress for a lovely doll?
Thank you for the noises ad views of our capital city. You visit so we don't have to lol! Very interesting stuff
Thank you :)
the magnifying glass is hypnotizing me lol
Thank you so much! This was a lovely video🥰 I can't wait to see what you make with those finds♡ Do you think you could maybe show us a bit of your craft- and collection area? I'd love to get to know you a bit better... ☺
We do not have a craft area as such but we sometimes show our collections :)
Thank so much for taking us along to the Thames :) The Foreshore looked so calm. Gosh those bones are creepy!! And the little pictorial house piece is super cute ...
There is a strange atmosphere on the Thames foreshore. It is in the middle of a busy city but as you say it is really calm by the river :)
@@MudlarkingWithKitCaboodlers it certainly looks, like you can step down into a calm environment with the city making its noise above you! One year we'll go there... sometime in the future! As for now, we live vicariously through your videos :)
So happy to see you both back on the Thames! I also like your other mudlarking but must say that the Thames is my favorite. Great video. Great fines even the finger bones. 😊
Amazing finds well done regards Elaine kayes Cumbria stay safe xx
Lovely as usual! xx
Thank you :)
Im with you, I think the finger bones are SO interesting! I mean, all of the items you found area awesome to see and think about but..human fingerbones!
Lovely video wish I was there too !
Hopefully for Christmas. There were a lot of pins :)
Mudlarking With Kit & Caboodlers fingers crossed I need to get my eye in for pins maybe I should throw a few on the garden and see if I can spot them lol
Hello ladies. I'm new to your channel and love it! Stunning things you are able to make too which are very inspiring. I'm wondering if the finger bones may be from the Prison Ships that used to be docked on the Themes back in the days of the clay pipes? I've seen Nichola Mudlarking channel where she found a jawbone which she handed in to authorities who were able to roughly age it as a relic. Close to where Nichola found the jawbone she discovered the history about the prison ships. Very interesting part of history I didn't know. Which is another reason I love watching all you Mudlarkers. Thank you both for sharing your love of this hobby.
Thank you for that :)
Kate Is that the magnifying glass you found on another mudlarking outing? One of the bottle dump sites? Was it when the bird was singing and brought you good luck?
She found on our last outing to the Thames :)
AT 19:12 THAT IS A PIECE OF FLINT
Good morning beautiful women so glad to see you up and about on my way to church ⛪️ on another grand adventure and a fantastic day
Thank you :)
Awesome video as always, love the finds and can’t wait to see what you guys make with all the bits and bobs 👏👏👏👏🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰👍👍👍👍👍💖💖💖💖
Thank you :)
I really enjoyed the video, as always.
You had a nice day for mudlarking along the Thames. Was nice to hear the chimes from at pauls. You had some nice finds, I like the slag glass and the finger bones. Interesting to think about how they got there. Thank you for sharing your day
Thank you :)
You lovely ladies find beauty in everything! So inspirational and fun. Sometimes I wish you would wear rubber gloves
Wonderful video as always ladies. :)
Thanks so much! 😊
Can't be sure but I think the bones you found are from pig trotters, which are actually made up of lots of bones like those.
Class 👍👍xx
🤩🤩🤩💜💜
I sure enjoyed watching this 😊 thanks for sharing 👍 😊
Today is my birthday. Thanks for the trip to the thames.
OH 😯😁!!! Happiest of birthdays, Dawn👏🥳🎂🎁!!!
Thank you
Happy Birthday to you from Las Vegas
Happy birthday! :)
Hi from Iowa I love Watching you and I wish I could be there and find marbles and cool stuff.
I am sure that is a human thumb bone you found and I sure love the scenery you show at the start of your videos every week.. I am totally amazed how clean all your water ways are compared to North America.. I live in Manitoba Canada and our water ways are not close to yours...You guys Make my Sundays very special and you guys have a special day..
Thank you so much :)
do you remember the great folk singer Pete Seeger whose great efforts helped clean the H udson?
Wonderful finds, may I ask why you leave all the beautiful glass, with your great imaginations I know you would design something unique, maybe a glass top dressing table for the dolls house or glass dishes to display your finds. I'd have a wheelbarrow with me, you are both so lucky to have the history, no matter where you go your finds are very exciting.
I took the nicest pieces for my glass candlestick I am going to make. We can not take too much heavy stuff as it is quite a long journey on a train home :)
Another wonderful video ladies! Love the finds. Can't wait for the next crafting video and of course larking video as well. thanks for sharing!:)
Thanks so much!
Coffee and k&c on Sunday morning! Nothing better! Hello to Sunny cat too!
Thank you :)
Need a small pocket for your magnifying glass
