    Beautiful look.
    I personally apply Mac paint pot and a skin coloured shadow on top otherwise they get patchy and hard to blend. If I want a solid coloured lid, I apply the skin shadow above the crease only.

    I usually use a base shadow over my primer to make blending easier when I'm wearing more neutral shades that won't have a lot of fall out or transfer. But if I'm wearing something dark or very colourful I will either put it right on the primer or spray the brush with fix+ to sort of "re-prime".

    I totally agreed with your guys' discussion in that video. To me, it's like the purpose of a primer is to help the makeup last longer but also for color payoff to be able to make the colors appear as true as possible. While yes, the primer/concealer then flesh tone powder helps people blend their looks out better or easier, I personally do primer and then my transition shades in the crease with my flesh tone above that up to my brows.

    I used to put an eye shadow base over my primer then watched your get ready with me video and stopped. No more creasing. I really glad you brought that topic up. it really increased the wear of my eye shadows!

    I put down my primer then use my matte brow bone up to my crease and leave the lid without shadow. I use the 24 hour eye base from Mac. Loved the look dear! Beautiful as always!!!

    That is so cute! For the eye discussion, I use a primer then put the shadows I'm itching to use on the primer. I feel like outer a neutral eyeshadow all over your eyelid then the shadows you really want to stand out on top of that is a waste of time and product. Great video. Absolutely love you and your videos! 💚

    I use my primer on my lids and then only apply a light nude eyeshadow from my crease up to my brow bone, I like leaving the primer tacky on my lid so that I can really pack on color that will come up bright by really sticking to that base. That way I can have a well blended crease and a really nice bold lid :)

    I personally use primer all over my eye, and set only from my crease to browbone with a nude shadow, that way the colour i place on my lid still has something to stick to and is as bold as possible whilst the nude shadow helps me blend the colours in my crease softer and easier, i find it goes patchy if i try and blend a colour straight over a primer, but if packing a colour on the lid it's different.

  • @philli1897

    I have done both techniques and I believe that it depends what look your trying to go for because the both work very well. If you want more of a look with a nice pop to your eye I would do the primer. If you are looking more for a smoky eye using lots of browns I find using the concealer with a nude color to match your complexion to work best. Experimenting is always best even when wanting to make sure you execute your look. Anyway I love this look ❤❤❤

  • @BleedingxRainbow
    @BleedingxRainbow 9 років тому +1

    Oh and yes I was listening to your discussion in your last video about laying down a nude shadow over top the primer. I agree it's not a useful step at least for me. I want my colours to be vibrant. I used to put my Mac Studio fix powder all over my brow bone to help blend out a black smokey eye, but that's before I realized about transition crease colours. I would only use black eyeshadow, and face powder so that helped me blend the black. But I would never put a nude shadow/face powder on the lid, if I intend on making the lid black or have any vibrant colour.

    I like my eyeshadows to stick straight to the primer, except in the crease. So I often add something slightly darker than my skintone in the crease and then go with the rest straight on the primer. Except I'm in Sydney and this week was 35-40, so I mostly just put on eyeliner and left the house, because nothing else would stay.

    I only sometimes use a flesh-colored shadow, if I am doing a very dark matte lid, blended into the crease (not at all on the lid) so that my "in-between" shade to blend out the dark edges is much easier to smoke out. Most of the time though, I like my primer sticky.

  • @caffeinequeen38
    @caffeinequeen38 9 років тому +1

    I always apply my eye primer and go all over the entire eye (lashline to brow bone) with Mac's Brule, but I've been using my KVD Mi Vida Loca palette daily and now use the shade Moulder instead. I like the brightening nude base it provides for the rest of my shadows.

  • @AnneAndersonFoxiepaws
    @AnneAndersonFoxiepaws 6 років тому

    I used to always use the concealer, then shadow method but for brighter shades I do have black and white jumbo eye pencils and the Sleek eyeshadow Primer pallet, I haven't actually used the Sleek pallet enough yet to comment on it but the jumbo pencils (NYX) do make an amazing difference to bright colours. If it's loose pigment or glitters I pat on some glitter fixing stuff and I like Ingkot's Duraline for making pigments stay put wherever.

    Honestly as far as what I do with my concealer/primer/eyeshadow changes every time I do my make up. Sometimes it concealer only, cream foundation, just a primer, sometimes it's a colored cream shadow only. Then sometimes I do a skin colored powder all over because otherwise my eyelids crease immediately. But blending with shadows usually works the creases out as I go so it's not necessary. Especially if I'm using intense colors or darker colors I don't worry about it. Setting the eye first does help soften things up and makes it easier to blend but I don't think it's an absolute must do. I do whatever I feel like doing in the moment.

    Yes, I was thought by Sacha Cosmetics Make Up Course - To apply a concealer over eyelids then put Skin Tone or Neutral Eyeshadow all over the lid then apply actual eyeshadow colours for your look.
    I don't like it at all. it's just toO much powder....Unless you're doing a neutral i guess same colour family. But I still skip it.
    I personally before doing the course and still presently I LOVE USING EYESHADOW PRIMER, my first ever primer was Ruby Kisses 24Hr Eyeshadow Magic Eyeshadow Primer (Pink Bottle)...... I LOVED IT.... I ALWAYS JUST APPLY MY COLOURS ONE TIME INSTEAD OF THE neutral eyeshadow. Loreal Eyeshadow Primer was also really soft and almost mousse texture.
    LOVE YOUR Videos!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! AWESOME JOB, KEEP DOING WHAT YOU DO BEST!!!!!
    XOXO - Seasons Greetings & Happy New Year

    I do a sticky primer all over, then a skintone shadow from just above the crease up to the brow. It's the best of both worlds - the lid and crease still grab the color but the transition blends out really seamlessly :D

  • @strawberica
    @strawberica 9 років тому +2

    The only time i'd ever apply a skin colored shadow over primer first would specifically be above my crease where I'd want a shadow to blend out. I guess as a transition color but I don't even really do that because I want my eyeshadows to stick to my primer. I get why people do it, but it doesn't make sense to me because I feel like it dulls or lightens whatever shadows you put on top. Maybe for a super neutral eye it wouldn't matter much, but I am with you, I prefer my shadows to stick to the primer.

    i set my eye base with a shadow thats my skin colour but only enough to take away the tack, i usually leave the lid without powder. if im using neons i wont do powder at all but anything else its a good idea to do it. it just stops the eyeshadows from looking patchy :P maybe try it sometime just lightly setting with a fluffy brush, i think people dont like it when they actually try to pack it on and get the pigment to show up, you could even use a translucent powder, that would help a lot if you have oily lids c:

    I did also wanna mention I love your bleached brows. When I was blonde I bleached my brows too, sometimes almost white, and I really loved it. I would only put a Taupe-y eyebrow pencil in it, if I wasn't wearing any eye makeup, cuz I looked pretty creepy with pale brows and no makeup. But with makeup, the pale brows really popped. I became obsessed with bleaching them as pale as possible. But I have black hair now, my natural colour and so my natural black brows. But I still miss my bleached brows. :/

    Today you used concealer first then eye primer. If I do that, it will crease. If I use only concealer and powder, it will crease. I have to lay down the eye primer first. And then my mood changes whether I go in with an all over light shade or apply the crease color first, and it also varies whether I wait for the primer to dry or not. Hmmmm....not very decisive, am I?!
    Ways of color application changes over the years. But I find it refreshing to go back to my roots, and then maybe tweak it just a tad.

    I tried powdering my base for a couple of weeeks but somehow especially shimmer shades just didn't stick to the eye and got even patchier than without doing so. I just stick with a base (without concealer underneath) and then shadows straight onto it. Somehow works better for me :)

    With placing a skin shade on my lid, I normally do it when I want to correct the color of the eye primer. I use Kat Von D's High Voltage Eye Primer and its too yellow for my skin tone, so it lends a yellow cast to everything I do. I normally put a white or vanilla-y pink matte highlight shade to tone it down if I want something more cool toned or neutral. I doesn't fully work but its the best i can figure out for finishing off this tube. I think I need to switch to something different but her formula is just so good! :( the color is just wrong:(

    I put my shadows right on top of my primer. It's a waste to set it I usually wear the Too Faced Candle Light or the NYX in white or black whats the point of wearing black eye primer and then setting it with a nude shadow then put black shadow over top? Also the Too Faced Candle Light primer is really shimmery and it's a waste to set it with skin colour shadow over it and cancel out the shimmer th whole point is to have the shimmer.

    ive bene using concealer and face podwer/ bone coloured eyeshadow since then it covers any veins / discolouration on my eyelid so its a clean slate for any colours i add to it
    wheras most primers you can still see veins / discolouration
