believe it or not, i almost played against messi, i was in the youth of ajax, and cruyf organized a tournament for all the players under 21
just happend to be messi got transfered to the main team just in that week itself
@@kennethflaming8606 Good thing you didn't have to but also would have been a great story! Back when I played club (I'm 37 now) I played against and on a few teams with MLS players. Which isn't nearly the quality of Ajax but back then in the US. You didn't travel outside of the US unless you were really really lucky (that and our club team alone cost 2k a season) and no one would give you a shot no matter how good you were. So most of us gave up after college or hs.

That must have been an awesome experience playing for such a good academy! I'm glad you guys are taking Americans finally, it's great we get to learn for clubs with history and competition at every level. Not that we don't have fantastic players here but you guys seem to have them throughout every single division from top to bottom.

@@_Jake.From.Statefarm_ Yeah MLS is still a good level to play at, its indeed harder in america here in europe we have alot of good youth teams, no never made the first team , but i did play with youth and the last year i was there with the reserves after 5 years at ajax i had to go, not good enough anymore so moved on to another team still good but not on that level and you don"t learn as much as with ajax for example, but nice storry you have there aswell, i'm 33 now aswell, peace bro!
@@kennethflaming8606 Totally bro! I don't think the average person understands that. Just how many good players there are out there. I found that the div1 guys aren't always the most talented (relatively speaking to someone on their level) but they are consistent. They hardly ever have bad days, they are reliable, etc. I was a striker but admittedly I'd have multiple games where I felt I was just non existent for whatever reason while others I was a stand out. I'm sure you know the feeling. I'm always super impressed by guys at that level that just are ALWAYS standing out, everytime they touch the ball, or just even move into space. Hopefully you'll find a spot in the game still at some point. If not coaching or some form of management!
@@_Jake.From.Statefarm_ yeah you are right about that, even now as of today so much money involved that alot of talented youths break, sometimes you gotta be lucky aswell, my main problem was my position ,left wing or right wing, somtimes left mid right mid, but at that time my weak foot was not that developed yet, but coach wanted me to be able to play both sides and it came to bite me, altho today my left foot is atleast 3 stars on fifa lol, yeah i'm not gonna go for being coach or anything cause you need a degree for that and europe is packed with 'coaches' i work in security now lol, funny thing is every 2 weeks we play home, i am security at the stadium for some extra pocket change, i hope soccer gets more attention cause if you want, america could be a superpower in world football,the pool you could draw from is gigantic, netherlands belgium verry small amount of people we can recruit, but they are so talented cause of infrastructre but its gonna take time and starts with youth development, MURRICAA FUCK YEAH

One of the core aspects of what makes him so hard to defend against is the amount of touches he gets on the ball when he drives. It makes it incredibly difficult get the ball from him when he's touching it on basically every other step. And if you hesitate for a split second you're either fouling him, or you just got nutmegged 2 seconds ago.
99% of the games Messi will literally walk around on the field, analyzing his opponents and then, as you said, use his amazing acceleration to destroy the defense. So he's usually not working very hard physically but saves up energy to explode against the opposing defense. Of course this ability is getting worse with age.

@@lapulgamagic8386 Read again. I didn't say 99% of the game but games, plural. It's something he always does in 99% of the games/matches but not 99% of the time IN games of course. That'd be impossible since he's a key player that gets the ball a lot (don't actually know after he moved to PSG but the little I've seen he still does great things with the ball, although when I watched them the team didn't connect well with the front 3 so he didn't get it as much).

what ive noticed in Messi's gameplay is that his mental game is out of this world. The reason that it looks like he's just choosing between going right, left, backward or forward is because he's literally baiting defenders into positions where a simple touch to the right or left makes them look silly. He pretty much mastered stop and go movement and the defenders that try to match his movement are the ones that get burned. Defending someone like this you need to keep moving. You can see it in all the clips. The defenders that get burned are the ones that are static, the ones that have a chance are the ones that run with messi rather than trying to block him. Despite that tho, Messi's agility is not of this planet. So even if you know the answer....well ye
