- The Texas hunting culture in the last 30 years has been shaped by the exotic game that has been introduced to our great state. Sometimes unwelcome, but interesting none the less; these non native species make for great targets that expand hunting seasons.
We got the great opportunity to hunt free range Axis (or Chital) Deer in the Texas Hill Country during the heat of the rut! the hunting was tough, but its a great chance to get in close to deer and learn more about these spotted Indian deer.
We also spent time fly fishing for native Texas fish on the river to beat the heat. We caught Guadalupe Bass and Long Ear Sunfish. Floating and fishing the clear waters of central Texas is something everyone should give a try.

I used to hunt about 25 miles south of Luchenbach close to a tiny town called Sisterdale The ranch is now in the Texas Heritage Ranch foundation It had been in the family for about 130 years Right on the Guadalupe River Beautiful country and tons of wildlife

It’s a pay for play currently! Wt are at a premium due to high fence. Which hardly pay a ranchers bill. IYKYK about axis…..

Exotics are year round but can you use rifle or only bow outside general season?
