- We're back with the latest HODINKEE Radio Fantasy Draft, and this time it's all about summer watches. If you're anything like us, your watch wardrobe does end up being a bit seasonal, with dressier pieces on leather straps getting more wrist time when it's sweater weather and those chunkier watches on NATOs seeing more sun when the mercury rises. Stephen was able to get Cara, James, and Jon into the virtual studio with the mission of each of them emerging with their ideal summer watch collection. And like every draft, we leave it up to our listeners to determine who won.

It would be helpful if you gave a ballpark as to what each watch goes for. Some of your "$5" (i.e. $15,000+) are actually $100,000+. It would also be interesting to see what the panel would do if they each had $10,000 to spend to start a collection. They'd have to end up with 3-5 watches. Ok, I'm going away now.

IWC Spitfire has a leather lined strap. DISQUALIFIED.
I was gonna say... don't all the IWC pilots watches come with a single leather strap (only)...no extras??? Turns out he was correct. The IW326801 is the only spitfire, (aside from a Chrono also), that doesn't come on a leather strap!

More of these please. That was terrific. But no Aqua Terra? That would probably have been my first round pick as a perfect all-round summer watch. Loved the Bulgari and Cartier picks though.

I gave Cara a hard time for her shirt! Deservedly so!!! But her draft collection is very respectable! And BTW, I dig her pick of the ladies Patek! But that shirt collar thō! It's like "which one of these don't go together"? 😋
Cara - killing it with the 3rd round. I have a mint vintage Sea Wolf 35mm Bakelite on an oyster bracelet with just the perfect hint of honey patina on the numerals. This and my vermeil Must de Cartier Tank are the happiest couple.

Surprised no one picked the IWC Aquatimer. I’d either go with Stephen or John’s picks.
Blue dial VC Overseas, AP Royal Oak Offshore Diver (kudos, James; if I couldn't pick this, I'd go with a blue dial Rolex Yachtmaster, which is gettable, similar to the Submariner), B&R 03-92 Orange Carbon, G-Shock GMWB-5000-2 (metal square on a rubber strap), and Seiko SRPD77 (green Seiko 5).
