My suggestion for the new island name is “Partea rock”. Maybe you can put an amusement park on it.
Nice, I was thinking the same thing!
Is it in the house tonight?
In my opinion it would be better a natural reserve or a zoo
Yes this
And a bit of nightlife
Imagine walking in London with Biffa. Suddenly you ask your self, where is Biffa? You turn around and see Biffa in the middle of the road managing traffic.
Or seeing him building a roundabout ;D
And as he directs traffic you can hear him say "hugo there, hugo here."
@@Saber721 ooh, Jumpy game
Ehh Line mathematics again

A desolate rock a bit from shore looks like the ideal spot for a luxurious tourist area! With maybe a Ferris wheel, some fancy restaurants and such!
That is my idea as well!!!!
I was thinking that too. Someone above had the idea of Oolong Island and another was Long Island (sort of tea related and fitting the resort idea lol)
I think you may need to put (hidden) pathways between the tram stops and the road, as they don't seem to be connected and people aren't using the trams
👍
Steam workshop invisible path. I think also that need smal path connection
I have an idea! Can New Tealand have a transportation company that runs the different lines.
Tea Time Transport - “We’ll have you home in time for evening tea”
that is the best slogan-
@@ultrapancakes100 it was either this or “home by tea time”
also, name the bus station area "Tea Time Transport Transfer"
@@bow-tiedengineer4453 I love it 😂
This is much better than anything I came up with!
Please call an island 'Long Island' and build a 'Long Island Ice Tea' factory on it. Not traditional tea I know but still great tea :)
As a Long Islander I can appreciate this request.
I was along those lines too, but calling it long tealand?
I feel that name need to be reserved for another more elongated island
@@cainnorbert It wouldn't suit the newly unlocked island but I spotted a few long islands surrounding the main island in episode 1 when the map was shown off
I thought of rock island iced tea for what he said in the video, but we are on the same page ;)
“We’re coming up to a roundabout now. Hold onto your teabags!” - Biffa 😂
petition for the small transport hub to be called "Tea-Junction"
I'll sign
Maybe Teapot Junction?
I had that error for ages!!!!!!! Couldn't find where it was till someone said to check the steam forum. Hate it when that happens. You can turn off the traffic lights from spawning when you make a junction in Traffic Manager options, saves a lot of time rather than having to go back over your roads to turn them off! Really loving this series XD
Oh I love how Biffa suddenly realized at 5:12 we are bleeding money... I'm betting we will soon see parks that charge a ton of tea leaves to enter and exit :)
I never thought I would be this emotionally attached to a simulated city
Name suggestion for the traffic hub: seeing as it's in the Earl Grey area, right underneath Eral Grey End, how about naming it Earl Grey Relay? :)
Or Earl Grey Delay
Oh! I was starting to think there wouldn't be an episode today, so glad we get one after all and yay it's a New Tealand one.
I am playing Evil Genius while watching this and can't help but think that island would make a great evil genius island somehow.
For the new tile, I think oolong island is a perfect name.
I love that the three tiles make a T as well.
He attached the cemetery dirt road to the tram only road when he moved it. I bet he’ll notice later and laugh about it
I mean it’s not gonna be used much (or at all) tho anyway
@@Zidzods The cemetery cannot pick up dead people without road connection
One might say now it’s a... dead end.
I was just about to point that out lol
Its a shame because everyone is dying to get in there....
The island could be called “The Tea Isle”, a play on the the tea aisle most British supermarkets have 😛
My suggestion for your ‘desolate rock’ is ‘the loose tea leaf’. Since the island isn’t connected to the mainland, referring to the style of tea made with unbagged tea leaves.
Yes! Loose Leaf Island!
the time between the last video and this one felt like an eternity
Or more like Teaturnity!
@@kevinkorinaughton3498 lol
@@kevinkorinaughton3498 you had the chance to say ‘eternitea’ but you missed it😔
If you ever make a beach resort you can call it "Cuppa-Cabana"
I suggested Camellia for the Region name, but now I think you should save it for the 🔬 Scientific College Campus in the future! 🌱 (Camellia sinensis is the scientific name for Tea)
Ps. Thank you so much for your quality content Biffa. We all greatly appreciate what you do!
Finally my time has come to tell you what I wanted to tell you all along on other videos. Bus lanes don't do anything to help the traffic flow until you change their settings in TMPE. You have to dedicate the bus lane to busses otherwise everyone will use them.
That's why my bus lanes never seem to work. Thanks for the tip.
Matcha tea is stone ground, so that might be a fun name for the rocky district! It would make a really good touristy location.
Also, the tram line could come up amd wrap around the bus hub, and never need to go on the road.
@22:57 I love that the road goes through the natural rock arches. I saw that and thought it would look great!
Thanks Biffa for making it happen, although - as you said in your unfinished sentence - it's an asset that wasn't exactly designed to have a road go through it!
And to have it as a bus route to boot is just perfection!
Can't wait to "Ride a bus" through the tunnel once it opens up!
22:50 I think you should build the statue of liber-tea on that island :) Make it a tourist destination
Liber-tea island. I like it!
Nice 👍
Oh come on Biffa! That rock asset was clearly made to have that road through it! The suggestion was perfectly clear, with how the original roads were laid out. And those arches. 😉
10:17 "Don't tell anyone, I'm going to use the Move-It mod ...."
Me: *Tells everyone*
You put more efford in that little town, than I put into my last big city. I Love New Tealand.
My suggestion for the new island name is "Alcatearaz" have a prison on it.
Realised this one isn’t in the playlist for some reason!! Got me all confused thinking there was only 3 eps so far! Happy to have this one too :)
👍
Rakiuratea Island name for the island, Rakiura is a name of an actual New Zealand island.
Biffa picking up and moving the graveyard had me in stitches 😂
Perhaps the island could have a nice luxurious flight club (or maybe a local airport, if it fits)
I'd suggest to have all the bus lanes in ur hub to face south, and then have the most eastern one face north. This way, all buses use the same road to exit, and they can pick their lane there, which will stop them from doing the derpy thing they're doing now.
Hey Biffa!
Just a thought: I think I would reverse the direction of the one-way turn-around for the tram.
They currently have to cross the oncoming car traffic twice via left turns.
If you reverse the direction, they only do right turns.
Anyways, have fun and happy easter!
Also if you put the gteen bus stop along the bottom road the busses would turn around in your "terminal-
IMHO that island should become a tourist attraction. Think like Miyajima near Hiroshima.
Edit: Congratulations on the connection though the mountains. Looks really great.
I have a name suggestion for the transport hub,
“The Teapot”
A play on words with “depot”
Thanks to you biffa my Spotify playlist has grown considerably, not only are you one of the greatest cities skylines players out there. Your taste in music us impeccable.
The island should be called “Chailand or Teailand” just like Thailand!
❤️Chailand is great! Because it's literally a small island! Clever idea
That coastal road passing through the rocks and that tram & bus hub is look beautiful mate! Glad to see the detailing is here promised in the first episode! Splendid work my friend
Name the road "Teaside Rockway" =D
Got to build a hobiton (hobteaton?) In New Tealand surely haha.
Those beautiful rock arches need to be a national park! I'm loving the look of this map!
Being called "Desolate Rock" makes me want to call it "Emptea Island", but not so good once developed :)
I'm rewatching the New Tealand series. This is one of my, if not the most favourite episodes. The transit hub, LRT style tram, and the coastal road through the rocks. After spending elementary/primary school in New Zealand the winding road along the cliff side is a lot like the one from Whitby to Wellington City in Wellington region, and I just love trams and trains. 😀
Love ya work Biffa, Would be nice to see some development in Left-Hand drive mode
True
Only heathens drive on that side of the road.
@@wschmrdr when you see heathens you are referring to around 1.5-2 billion people
Seeing how there's over 6 billion on the planet right now, that's still a 2:1 or 3:1 ratio, depending which one of your numbers is used. My point still stands. Heathens.
@@wschmrdr ok edgelord
Sweet as milk & two sugars! You could use raised pedestrian walkways in the new hubs ad to avoid pedestrian crossings. The nature walk palklife paths and bridges would look blimin' gorgeous!
I would name the island: "Desteatute Wildlife Preserve" and make it a nature reserve. You could use ferries from your transport area to get there.
another great video Biffa, loved the tram line by the road by the sea, very cool idea :)
by the way, I think the dirt road coming from the lighthouse and the cemetery is not connected to the road as you intended
For the island maybe a Natural Park?
The island almost has to be some kind of Jurassic Park style zoo
Beautiful new city and I'm glad I can come along for the ride. Thanks for sharing with us, Biffa!
Well obviously the new island is the Hoitea Toitea luxury spa resort. Only accessible by boat/ferry of course. Good opportunity to use lots of coastal features.
TranquiliTEA Island - nature reserve w/ lots of camping sites. rock climbing from that unique park would look great as well on that rocky island as well.
I think you should put a university campus on that 'desolate rock'.
I agree!!
The city has barely started and it's already freaking gorgeous! This map does help a bit though lol
Great stuff Biffa!
I dunno about naming, but that rock is begging to be a casino/resort/tourist trap.
Or evil villan lair
What's the song at 31:30 called? I searched the list on the youtube audio library and cannot find it, it's killing me. I need to know!!
I enjoy seeing trams run alongside main roads, as I've mentioned in other videos before where I live in Germany that's how a majority of our trams work, only in certain inner city areas the trams are on the roads because of space, but than again our city centres usually have car restrictions to residents and delivery of goods only so it isn't that big of a deal to have the trams there.
The city my uni is in spent a lot of time and money to rejig one of their main arterial roads leading into the city centre, they have the tram running in the middle between two big roads either side and at the main train station they redid the location to allow for trams, bicyclists and cars to have their own separate lanes and now the tram and bus stops aren't in the middle of the road anymore, making them even more accessible for wheelchair users (because while the pavements were lovered at the pedestrian lights it still meant you had to cross the street and now you can just roll up to the tram) and also as a pedestrian you don't waste your time on the lights anymore. And cyclists really needed more protection with such a major car road.
It took them years and multiple phases to implement it all, but it's a tourist magnet plus so many students use public transport and bicycle they needed to do it. But yeah, every year or so they replaced bus and tram stops while working on certain parts so you'd have to get used to new routes and timetables all the time 😅
The bus and tram hub could be called - Teapot (but pronouced like 'depot' haha) :)))
Yess!!
So based on other comments I like the Twining’s Memorial Transfer Terminus for the bus thing, particularly because it’s haunted after you moved that graveyard! And for the Island I like Loose-Leaf Island.
Don’t forget to name the nature reserve along the waterfront. There were plenty of good suggestions there! (Mine was Rooibos Reserve)
Gosh that coastal road looks fantastic now. Don’t see a lot of scenic road building in Cities: Skylines but wow, did that ever turn out nicely!
Buys tiles in shape of a T
Well done sir
He makes such wonderful cities, very aesthetic. i can't even come close with my cities nor does my computer run the game well enough (nowadays its almost 10 years old) to play this anymore, not with all them odds and ends added. so i just enjoy biffa's videos and live vicariously through them lol
I'm getting a bit bored with them because they always end up looking about the same. I keep hoping that he'll do something truly different just once.
Call it "the long brew" and build a prison on it? There's a good prison Set on the workshop that allows you to build walls around your prison that intersect with your roads to form gates
Long Brew Island would be there perfect place for a penitentiary.
Excellent work, Biffa! I think this may be your BEST series yet. I am lovin' it!
Thank you 👍😁
New tealand ayy, what a creative name
Having a Amusement/Theme Park on the island and some ferries from all the other places.
Or maybe you can place the Chirper's Castle on the island with some city park stuff around.
Great new series btw.
Make an airport on the island with another transportation hub for everything
An airport island call "High Tea" would be funny.
Loving this new build man! I’ve been wondering why I haven’t seen more people using the tram since you’ve built it. Guess we will have to give it some time and see what happens. 🫖
My name suggestion for the traffic hub is "Tea-junction".
Plus 1
I'm loving the city so far!! You should extend the tram so it follows the cost around to the other side of the city. I think It would look really good going round the rock formation where you build that road through the arches.
Something will happen with cemetery
The road ia not connected to main road, just connect to tram road
I’m so happy you uploaded these t- cities videos; it just gets your imagination brain on and is an escape from reality.
Thanks biffa
Watching from New Tealand...er, Zealand!
Looks like a place you'd stay on holiday as a kid and always want to go back! I think its the palm trees and the tram.
What about the ‘isle of teasy’. Like the isle of jersey.( if only we could go to jersey at the mo☺️)
Soon! End of the month they open again!
Loving the new little road. You have your own little "Petite Cote d'azur" there...
*waits for the bodies to pile up since the cemetery is no longer attached to the road network*
i noticed he only connected the dirt road to the tram line
5:49 That bus just totaled the car and forced the driver to take a bus. Savage.
You didn't connected cementary to road network, only to tram line.
Great video again Biffa 👍 you can use the Node Controller mod to change road widths, really useful for squeezing roads through spaces
Why would you mangle that peninsula with a hideous tunnel, that was crying out of a beautiful coastal elevated road.
Excellent work on the transit and the road through the stone arches is something else.
The cemetary is disconnected from the main road!
Still the best way to start my Saturday, a cup of coffee and Biffa.
That sounds like the wrong beverage, thematically speaking.
@@patrikhjorth3291 it is but I don’t like tea. So coffee will have to do.
@@jeffb1859 my body doesn't agree with tea so coffee and a Biffa video is my go to on a Saturday as well. Us coffee drinkers might be in the minority here, but I think of it as an all beverages are welcome sort of thing 😆
People keep saying build an amusement park on the island, i say build a Zoo "Tea-rassic Park"
That tunnel looks great.
I think the island should be another national park/ nature preserve connected by ferry to the transit hub
My suggestion for the island would be like "mystic black tea island". or something like that. love this series.
Watching the smoothly flowing traffic just doing their thing is my aesthetic
I get serious Massive Attack vibes every time the music plays during the end city tour. I love it!
Transit hubs don't usually have their own names, just named after the district or a nearby attraction.
For example, this one could just be called Earl Grey Transit Hub, since it's right next to Earl Grey End.
zoo, park, or amusement park for that area. perhaps a ferry over to it and walking paths throughout. definitely looks like some sort of disney/zoological type thing should go there. Maybe call it the Memorial Tea Gardens lol
You should name the entire road at the bottom leading through the Stone Arches "Oolong Drive" (coz you know,, it really is Oolooooongg drive all the way around :p), the mountain pass after it "Oolong Pass" and what is currently Fawn Hill (your bus station exchange area) to "Oolong's End". BTW loving this map and how you're detailing everything so far.
Thanks, nice suggestions too 👍
Hey there Biffa! God bless the citizens of New Tealand :D
In my opinion you shouldn’t put this much fences in the city.
I reckon you put them as a visual border of an area. For such concept it’s better to use another type and colour of the surface - like different type of pavement.
As for the fence - it makes people take longer routes, cuts the zone out of the urban pattern and also breaks the total permeability of a zone. In case of the newly built terminal in the city - having 3 fenced areas creates a look which is (imho) not as appealing as if that’d been a large nice square with hotdog stands, monuments and so on.
Also on a human scale - imaging walking along a fence. Or rather walk through a vast square
For your transit depot, there should be 1 lane bus roads you can use for the areas where the busses drop off/pick up that would be better then the 2 lane with 1 bus lane road your using there. also, don't forget to use traffic manager to ban non-bus traffic on those bus lanes as the default allows cars and trucks to drive on them. lastly, the reason that on bus came out and turned right instead of left was because it got stuck in the right hand lane which forced it to turn right to get out, if you used traffic manager, you could force it to pull out into the left lane so that it can go back to it's route with out being diverted to the right for a significant distance.
Tip from someone from a huge tropical metropolis: where heatstroke is real, shade is king. People plant their own trees, spread some canvas over the yard, wear hats, carry umbrellas... they do anything you can thing of to escape the sun. If you leave people to bake on the concrete, they'll bunch up where there is any kind of shade, from trucks to lamp posts. So... When you're designing public spaces that are meant to be comfortable: plant lots of trees, throw some fountains in as heat sinks, zone low density commercial for people to buy refreshments from. Not that this is coded in any way, shape, or form into the game, but just so you know if you go for a slightly realistic tropical city planning.
Just a tip, I think it's better if you do shorter bus lines with less buses but make them overlap more often
A few suggestions.
-Turn the turnabout for the tram to the other side of the street. Then it won't have to cross over any lanes and cause traffic issues.
-There is a two lane one way bus road among the small vanilla roads
-You forgot to put walking paths between the road and tram line so your citizens haven't got any way to get to the tram.
Just have to say Biffa, absolutely amazing start to this city! I love it probably as much as you do! Can’t wait to see what’s to come! Great job.
If the whole area is New Tealand then the island needs to have a Kiwi-themed name...
Stewed Island (like Stewart Island)
or the Māori name for New Zealand is "Aotearoa", so the island could be Ao-tea-roa.
Other islands in the archipelago include:
Motiti > Moteatea
Matakana > Makacupa
Te Hauturu > Tea Hauturu
The Road through these arches of rocks looks great! 👍🏻
I think you should allow the "pick your lane" on the exit of the yellow bus stop. This removes 2 problems:
1. Will prevent your yellow buses from getting stuck behind the trams.
2. Will allow your yellow buses to turn left when leaving the depot in stead of forcing them right.
Both these problems are caused by the game only allowing lane changes at nodes.
