    Loved this video and the video of you guys creating this canoe. Montana is such a beautiful state however I've never been to that part of Montana but definitely would love to do that journey down that stretch of river like you guys did. Thank you so much for sharing and excellent choice in music also it kept me attuned with excitement the entire time.

    I've been waiting for this video. It seems much more stable and less "truckish" than I anticipated, though watching you launch it, a portage is a non-starter. I imagine grounding it on a shoal could be problematic as well. Overall a very interesting project and great maiden voyage. Well done.

    I really enjoyed watching you guys on that adventure. This is the way one sould experience the beauty of nature. Just be out there, not destroying nature like thousands of tourists doing it by rushing to that one point of interest by car, trampling down everything and leaving loads of trash behind. I wish we would have such beautiful rivers down here were I live, where you can go for days and weeks without having any dam or other building blocking your way. Our rivers are blocked by dams every few kilometers, which makes it impossible to really travel far by boat and also there are almost no fish in there anymore, because they are also unable to travel along the river. Keep on going and let us be part of your adventures, greetings from germany
    One question, where is the water at 15:00 coming from? Is it normal that some water seeps through the wood in that kind of canoes? Or is it coming from some rain?

    • @thomasjelpel
      @thomasjelpel  5 років тому

      The water in the canoe was from a passing rainstorm. :) Here is another one of our canoe adventures in Montana: ua-cam.com/video/oMm0sgRCNwo/v-deo.html

    I'm an experienced canoeist in Minnesota, but I've never paddled a dugout. How does it "ride" compared to the store-bought varieties?

    • @thomasjelpel
      @thomasjelpel  3 роки тому

      It's like driving a truck compared to driving a car, not quite as sporty, but it has more mass. The flat-bottomed dugout canoe is substantially more stable than modern plastic canoes.
