9:10 This weapon is based on the IRL gun "VSS Vintorez" - a Soviet/Russian integrally suppressed tactical sniper rifle, in service since 1987. Iconic stuff. No wonder it's one of the "Old Earth" weapons here is Starfield.
The "Old Earth Hunting Rifle" is closely based on a real life soviet-designed sniper rifle, the VSS Vintorez. It also featured an integrated suppressor and fired heavy subsonic rounds. Very interesting weapon :)
With the caveat I haven't played the game, I would guess that when one bar of white health is depleted, one red blip of the lower bar is removed to get full white health again. Like an armor or something, or health packs.
It's a fun quest, I loved it! I did it on hard mode so for you it shouldn't be too bad. I predict this will take you a few episodes to finish though. I can't watch the ones before this though because when I told you about how I got caught stealing, I ended up in the same boat you did getting caught with contraband. I backed out of it and to an earlier save but I do know I'm going to do it eventually since I realized it is another mission. But I haven't done it yet.
You can always loot after the thing is over like I do. The ships right there so you just go back in and get all the stuff and carry it back slowly, lol. You have to stop and fill up with oxygen every minute or so.
Yeah! Mantis mission! The enemies with the red and white bars actually have 3 health bars. They're like mini bosses, and I'm pretty sure they always drop improved loot. My tip for deciding what loot to grab and what not to: I usually pick up guns. If I remember correctly, the ammo in the weapon gets added to your inventory even if you drop it afterwards, and ammo weighs nothing. Guns generally sell well and the weight isn't bad. beyond that, anything that shows a value greater than 10,000 is worth grabbing in my opinion. I don't really bother with food, helmets, or melee weapons. Just not enough value for the weight.
there are different skills for different weapons which could explain why some , you would think are good are not as good , because you have not got the skill for that weapon class .
The malestom has a higher dps so even though its physical damage is lower than the other it outperforms it. The mod you ate looking for is called Star UI, go check it out.
Glad you tried the "old earth hunting rifle" and like it :). As I said, I only kinda knew what it was based on ( other commenters have given you the correct IRL name for it), nothing about how it would be in game. I did figure it was likely suppressed based on the caliber and what appears to be an integral suppressor, but didn't know for sure, I didn't look it up. As far as it's rate of fire, well, it's a military weapon. I think hunting rifle should be in quotes as it IS designed for hunting - but not necessarily hunting animals....
Oh, and I should add that I don't know about ammo availability. The design is centuries old and the rifle may well be too. So no idea how hard the ammo will be to find/purchase.
As I type this, I have just made it to the bottom of the Mantis lair, so not too far ahead. However, I'm getting ready to record two new episodes now. Not sure where I'm headed after the lair.

I wish I knew where that desert planet is that they showed in your loading screen. I've check out a ton of planets already and I haven't seen it yet.
I always found it weird that you can get a perk on a gun that applies a bleed effect to a target...I mean, it's a gun, people are gonna bleed 🤔

Lair of the Loot or How to Add Weight to Dead Enemies
LOL
Yeah! Mantis mission!

Almost lvl 60 and haven't done this yet, might try it though as I'm only 3/30 on stealth melee kills...

How far ahead are you in this game Fox? I like to know that so that I don't say anything redundant.

34:30 3 hahaha
You do a lot of red headed guys I've noticed. Are you a redhead in rl Fox?
No, I was just trying to make them look sort of like my fox mascot.
@@MentalFox Okay, fair enough, I thought so 🦊
Don't do the Mantis Mission until you can pilot A C class ship😊
